Just A Touch Of Death

Prologue

In the night when the moon was high and glowing in the sky and the whole royal palace of euphoria was as silent as a graveyard the once eerily quiet atmosphere was suddenly destroyed by the painful screams of a woman as well as the continuous encouragement of other women.

"Lady Angelica... please push!! "

A maidservant said urgently as she squeezed the hand of the struggling woman who laid helplessly on her bed screaming in pain as she pushed with all her might feeling the body tearing pain of childbirth rip through her soul.

"Just a little more my lady"

"I can see the head of the baby! Push my lady"

"I'm trying!!!"

Angelica yelled in between her screams as tears roll down her eyes.

The maidservants felt sad for their mistress, but they all knew there nothing they could do to ease her pain.

"Please try harder!"

Marta the eldest of the three maidservant said encouragingly to Angelica who had both tears and sweat dripping down her face and thankfully after three more hours of painful screams the healthy cry of a newborn baby fill the entire room of Angelica.

Angelica slumped down on her bed with a lazy smile on her pale and sweaty face feeling exhausted.

One of Angelica's maidservant Jenna took the crying and bloody baby to the washroom to clean her up.

"You've done well my lady"

Sarah, the last of Angelica's maidservant said gently to Angelica as she caressed her sweat soaked brown hair with a loving smile on her face.

After a while Jenna came back from the washroom with the baby gently wrapped in a swaddle in her arms but with an ugly expression on her face.

"My lady it's a girl b-but....she has....red hair "

Jenna said grimly as she placed the

crying baby in angelica's tired arms and she gladly accepted her with a smile on her face.

In the kingdom of euphoria the color red was considered a bad omen since the color represents death but that wasn't the problem.

The child looked nothing like her mother and her father... the king.

"She's mine"

Angelica said softly as she stared at the baby who laid weightlessly in her arms. The baby's hair was a dark shade of blood-red and Angelica knew that her hair color would be a problem for her in the future.

"B-but my lady the baby looks nothing like the king. The king would never believe you if you say she is your child"

Marta said, and the other maid servant nodded in agreement.

"I know you're all worried about the king not accepting my child as his. But I swear to God that the child is his. I may only be a lowly servant, but he would believe me for the person he laid with, right? "

Angelica said slowly as she rocked the baby in her arms gently.

The maidservant all sighed at her words not knowing why she was so in love with the arrogant king who goes around sleeping with every woman he sees.

Marta let out a sigh not knowing what else to say to the young mother who wants nothing more than the king's attention and affection.

" Jenna I thought I told you to inform the king about the lady's safe delivery "

Marta said sternly to Jenna making her grimace sadly.

"I did, But he didn't care...."

The room went silent at Jenna's word and the maidservant glanced cautiously at Angelica wanting to see her reaction. but all she did was smile.

"I wasn't expecting much. I'm a fool to think I'd gain the favour of the king after I bear his child "

Noticing the dark and solemn atmosphere Sarah immediately forced a smile on her face wanting to brighten up angelica's mood.

"What do you plan to name the baby my lady"

Noticing Sarah's intentions the two other maidservant join to contribute.

"Yes my lady what's the baby's name? "

"What are you going to name your daughter? "

angelica's expression brighten at their questions and she immediately answered.

"The name of my daughter will be... Celestina Angelica de Vengeance "

Immediately after Angelica declared the baby's name, her cry's came to an abrupt stop making everyone smile in relief. Celestina's eyes shot open and a pair of glowing electric blue eyes were revealed.

"Her eyes are glowing... "

Angelica stared in shock at her daughter who was now gazing at her with innocent curious eyes. Celestina's

Tiny arm rose up slowly and her small and warm palm came in contact with her mother's cheek.

Celestina's eyes glowed brighter and all of a sudden Angelica grabbed her chest finding it difficult to breath.

"My lady are you alright? "

"I-I can't b-breathe... "

Angelica barely responded as she grabbed her chest struggling to breathe as she stared down at her daughter who was still staring at her curiously with her glowing blue eyes.

"Go call the Imperial physician. Hurry!!"

Sarah immediately ran out of Angelica's room to get the physician.

Angelica pulled Celestina's hand away from her cheek and her glowing blue instantly dimmed to a baby blue color. Angelica's eyes widen in realization of her daughter's terrifying ability.

"D-do not t-touch h-her hands"

Angelica said to Marta as she grabbed her approaching arm stopping her from touching Celestina and immediately after that her eyes rolled behind her head and she fell backwards on the bed... dead.

"M-my lady?"

"My lady wake up! "

"My lady you can't die! "

The maidservants yelled and screamed for the dead Angelica to wake up as they sobbed painfully not wanting her to die.

Still in tears, Jenna carried Celestina from angelica's dead body rocking her gently in her arm, but all Celestina did was stare... at her mother's unmoving body.

"She's so young, but she has to grow up without a mother "

Jenna sobbed as she stared at angelica's dead body.

Marta walked over to Sarah who was carrying Celestina with her face stained in fresh tears.

"She's too young to lose her Mother "

Marta said before holding Celestina's little hand in hers.

'D-do not t-touch her hands'

Angelica's last word rang in Jenna's head and just as she was about to warn Marta, Marta fell to the ground ...dead.

'What the.... '

Jenna glanced at the baby in her arms then at angelica's dead body before settling at Marta's body.

"Monster..."

Jenna's loud scream rang out of angelica's room destroying the silent atmosphere of the night.
