The Heir’s Summon

The car pulled into the long driveway of Jungkook’s private mansion, a secluded estate separate from the main Jeon household. The headlights illuminated the grand entrance, but inside, the house was dim, untouched, and silent.
Jungkook stepped out, his coat draped over one arm as the door shut behind him. He walked through the vast yet eerily empty halls, his footsteps echoing against the marble. The staff knew better than to linger—this space belonged to him alone.
He entered his study, placing his coat on the back of a chair before unbuttoning the top of his shirt. The air inside was cool, the stillness pressing in on him. His gaze flickered toward the clock. A few minutes past midnight.
His birthday was approaching.
With a sigh, he loosened his tie and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, overlooking the darkened garden. There was nothing to celebrate. Another year, another responsibility.
The silence was interrupted by the vibration of his phone. He glanced down at the screen. A text from "Father".

The Sire requests your presence at the main estate. Arrive promptly.
Jungkook’s sharp gaze lingered on the glowing screen of his phone for a moment.
A formal command, devoid of warmth.
He locked the screen, slipping the device back into his coat pocket. There was no need to acknowledge it. He would go. He always did.

Dining Hall, Jeon Estate
The heavy doors opened, revealing the long dining table—polished wood, untouched food, and the ever-present suffocating silence.
At the head sat Jeon Jin, the Sire, regal and composed, his hair gleaming under the chandelier’s glow. To his right, Kim Namjoon, the man who shared the title of father but nothing else. He remained unreadable, his presence just as calculated as always.
At the far end, lazily twirling a wine glass, was Kim Yoongi, his elder brother by blood but nothing more. He barely glanced up, lips quirking in dry amusement.
Jungkook took his seat without a word. The butler poured him a drink, and the moment the glass was set down, Jin finally spoke.

"The High Priest has requested a ritual before your birthday. You will meet him tomorrow."
Jungkook’s fingers tapped lightly against the crystal glass and met his father’s gaze, unwavering.

"Understood"
Namjoon leaned forward slightly, voice low and weighty.

"This is not just a formality. There are things you must prepare for."
Jungkook held his gaze, unfazed.

"Then I will prepare."
Yoongi exhaled softly, his amusement barely concealed.

"How typical, Like he has a choice."
His tone was indifferent, as if the conversation was nothing more than a predictable script.
Jungkook ignored him. There was no need to engage.
The conversation was brief. Once it ended, Jungkook stood, his chair gliding back smoothly. Without another word, he left the dining hall, footsteps fading into the distance.
.
Back in his quarters, he loosened his tie and sat by the window, staring out at the sprawling estate. The night stretched endlessly before him, cold and silent.
Jungkook didn't miss the slight tension on mention of the priest, Something was shifting. And it had everything to do with his upcoming birthday.
But he no longer had any curiosity or wait, he was just living for his responsibilities as being the supreme being and the protector.
