Chapter two : Tania Reynold

Far away in another part of the world, there is a girl who is busy in her school library. She took out a book and looked around for something. If she couldn't find it, she would search in another bookshelf. She tried to be as quiet as possible because she knew she was in the library. But finally her recklessness came. Her hand nudged the pile of books that were still messy next to him. Yep, The reckless Tania. It's not wrong if her friends give her that nickname.

Brukk!! the books fell scattered and made a fairly loud sound. Tania immediately took the books quickly.

"Miss Tania Reynolds." call someone. For a moment, Tania was silent. She turned to find Mrs. Nancy Daniels already on her feet and standing beside her. Her eyes glared at Tania and the glasses she was wearing fell down the tip of her nose. Tania closed her eyes and bit her lip slowly. Tania stood up slowly and faced Mrs. Daniels, the librarian.

"You've dropped those books several times. You've made this library as noisy as the market." said Daniels mother in a half whisper.

"Actually, only twice, ma'am. I just---" Tania stopped her words for a moment when she saw Daniels' mother glared even more. Her eyeballs almost fell out of place. "Forgive me." said Tania slowly.

"Immediately clean up all that and I beg you to go." Mrs. Daniels sighed harshly. She left Tania with scattered books. Tania immediately cleaned the books.

She had been tidying up the books for a few minutes now. Finally the books were neatly arranged on the shelves, there were no more books lying on the floor. Tania put her hands on her waist and nodded firmly. She smiled satisfied with her work. Tania then walked away and approached Mrs. Daniels at her desk. Mrs. Daniels looked at her with a sour face.

"I've cleaned everything, ma'am and once again I'm sorry." said Tania and immediately went out of the library.

Tania walked slowly towards class. She looked at some of the books in her hands.

'Wow, that's a lot, can I finish all of them?'

"Miss Tania Reynolds." call someone behind him. Tania stopped her steps and turned to find one of her teachers, Mr. Simon Murphy.

"Yes sir?" asked Tania.

"What are you doing here?" asked Mr. Simon.

"I'm from the library sir." answered Tania.

"Library? during class time?"

"What? what do you mean, sir? It's still break time, sir. Just look at the other students still--"

Tania was silent. She looked around. There's no one there. She was the only student outside the classroom. She looked at her teacher for a moment then lowered her head.

"Go back to your class now." Simon's orders.

"Yes sir." said Tania for a moment then turned her body and immediately walked away from Mr. Simon.

"Tania." call Mr. Simon back. Tania stopped her steps and turned her body. "Your class is over here." Mr. Simon pointed behind him. Tania was surprised and looked in the direction she was going to then turned back to look at the direction Mr. Simon was pointing at. Tania smiled shyly and her cheeks blushed when she knew she had gone the wrong way. Tania immediately walked quickly past Mr. Simon and headed to class. Mr. Simon shook his head in surprise at the behavior of one of his students.

Not long after, Tania arrived in front of her class. She slowly opened the door. All of her classmates looked at her.

"Miss Tania Reynolds." call the teacher. Susan Harper, the on-going math teacher called her. This was the third time her teacher had called her name so completely today. Not just one teacher, but three teachers at once. Tania went inside and stood in front of her teacher who was standing in front of the blackboard.

"Where have you been? Class started twenty minutes ago." Mrs. Harper folded her arms across her chest as she looked at Tania firmly.

"Sorry ma'am, I was from the library. I didn't know if the bell had rung." answered Tania.

"Tania sleeps in the library ma'am!" said one of her classmates. All her friends immediately laughed. Tania pouted hearing her friend's words.

"Come on, don't make a fuss. This time I forgive you. Sit down."

Tania walks to her seat. Tania smiled at her two friends sitting in front and behind her.

"Tania, you've only been in the library?" Casey whispered. Tania looked back and nodded. "What for?"

"Find and borrow books." said Tania who also whispered.

"That much?" Casey pointed to the pile of books that Tania had brought. Tania nodded.

"So, next time if you have an assignment, do it right away." said Anne, who sat in front of her.

Tania pouted. "Yes yes." she whispered finally.

"Eh Anne, can you help me do my homework? Please..." asked Tania who was still whispering.

"You, it's always been like that." Casey said.

"I know, I'm also surprised. How can I and my brain forget..." Tania hit her head lightly.

"I think you need to see a doctor." Casey said.

"Am I sick?" Tania protested.

"Perhaps. And your sickness could turn into madness."

"What? you..."

"Tania." said Mrs. Harper.

Tania, who was about to gently hit her friend, immediately turned around and smiled sweetly at her teacher. Mrs. Harper just sighed.

"Anne, help me...please..."

From the second break until after school, Tania still persuaded Anne to help her with the task she was given a week ago but Tania forgot about it and she cursed herself for it.

"Anne..." Tania called desperately.

Anne stopped in her tracks and took a deep breath.

"Give me the book. Let me take half of it. We're going to my house." said Anne at last.

"Anne!! you are the best...!!!" Tania cheered happily.

"Oh my gosh. Don't scream. It's so embarrassing." Anne immediately walked quickly to leave Tania.

"Then me?" Casey asked. "Am I not a good friend?"

"Casey is a pretty friend. Let's go." Tania wrapped her arms around Casey's arms and walked towards Anne's house.

Tania does not stop flipping through the books she borrowed from the library. Occasionally she scratched her head that was not itchy. She tried to understand what she was reading. But the longer she read, the less she understood it. Anne came into her room with snacks.

"Have you got it?" she asked. Tania shook her head.

"Looks like my brain won't cooperate this time." Tania answered weakly.

"Oh god. I'll help you to find it then." said Anne at last. Tania immediately smiled brightly and as sweetly as possible at Anne. "Ughh don't smile like that!! I want to throw up, huweekk.." Anne mocked. Tania pouted hearing that.

"Hey you guys." call Casey. Tania and Anne looked up at the same time. "Did you hear about Mark who said he was dating Lizzie?"

"Really? They're dating?" asked Tania surprised. Casey shrugged her shoulders.

"I don't know, maybe. I heard from the other kids. Said someone saw them kissing behind the school." Casey said.

"Kissing?" said Tania and Anne at the same time. Casey nodded.

"Impossible." said Tania. "I'm sure it's just a rumor."

"Isn't that right? It's just gossip, right? There's no way Mark would want to date a freak like Lizzie." Casey said.

"She's not a Casey freak." said Anne.

"She's a weird person, that's what I think. I won't let Mark fall into her hands. Just like that. I'm popular at school and has been chasing Mark since middle school and still can't date Mark. She just stepped over me." Casey said annoyed.

Casey is indeed one of the prettiest in school. Long and wavy blonde hair, clean white skin and sharp nose and thin sexy lips make her one of the prettiest. All the boys at their school liked Casey. But ever since they were in middle school, Casey had a crush on Mark Chamberlin, the most handsome boy in school. Mark moved to the city of Summerset when they were in middle school and since then, Mark has become the most handsome guy there. But Mark is hard to approach. No matter how beautiful the girl is, if he doesn't find her attractive, he won't approach her. Like Casey. Casey was one of the prettiest girls, but Mark didn't really care because Mark thought Casey was unattractive. Beautiful, but not attractive.

"I've always been confused about what kind of girl Mark likes. Even Casey who is very beautiful is still not enough." said Tania.

"Gosh... I hate to remember that." Casey snorted in annoyance. She remembered when she confessed her feelings to Mark and Mark immediately rejected it. Casey was completely embarrassed and almost didn't want to go to school anymore.

"Hey do you guys here to do this homework or just gossiping?" Anne started nagging. Tania laughed.

"Sorry... sorry. Let's do it again." said Tania as she took back the book she had read.

Kei couldn't believe it. His mouth was wide open. His eyes didn't blink and he didn't even move at all. He was so shocked by what was in front of him. A handsome man, slightly tan skin, brown hair that has been cut short, tall and perfect. Moreover, Kei knew that person.

"Very well, please take a seat at any vacant seat you wish Mr. Miller." Kei's teacher asked the man to sit down. The man sat in front of Kei.

"Okay kids, let's continue again." said Mrs. Nancy Brighton.

"What are you doing?" Kei whispered to the man in front of him. The man turned.

"What do you mean?" he asked in a whisper too.

"What are you doing here?" whispered Kei again.

"School." replied the man while lifting the book he had just taken out of his bag.

"School? You're joking."

"Kei, I really want to joke but I'm really not kidding, joking or whatever you have in mind. And don't think I like this. I don't like it at all. I'm way older than most high school kids!" the man explained.

"Then what are you here for? Ian, if you do something like-"

"Kei." called Brighton's mother, cutting off Kei's words. Kei turned his head and found Brighton's mother staring at him intently with her arms folded across her chest.

"I know you really want to get to know Ian Miller, but it's class time now. Do it later. And I'm pretty sure Ian would love to have a new friend." said Mrs. Brighton. Ian smiled.

"With pleasure." he said with an awkward smile.

Kei walked hurriedly towards the backyard of his school. He was looking for Ian's whereabouts.

"Kei, walk slowly." Ruben who walked along with Kei was a little overwhelmed.

"I want to quickly find out why that madman went to school here." said kei without slowing his pace.

"I'm sure he has his reasons." said Tim. "Or maybe your father wanted him to go to school here, to look after you."

Kei stopped his steps and faced Tim. "My father? take care of me? from what?"

"I don't know but it's definitely something." replied Tim.

"And I have to know that." Kei said then continued his way.

Soon Kei saw a familiar figure, Ian Miller with several girls at his school. Kei came to him.

"Ian." call Kei. Ian turned and smiled widely.

"Kei! What a surprise... come here, join me and these beauties." said Ian.

"We should talk but not here."

Kei pulled Ian's hand away from the crowd of girls. After some distance Kei let go of his hand.

"Wow Kei, this is the first time you've held my hand. I don't know if I should be happy or not. But it's really surprising." said Ian enthusiastically.

"I really don't care how you feel right now." Kei said coldly.

"Oh.. how rude. You broke my heart." Ian said. He tried to make his face look sad and touched his chest.

"Be serious...!!!" shrieked Kei.

"I'm serious Kei." said Ian again.

"Whatever." Kai sighed. "What are you doing here?"

"Uhmm...school?" Ian replied casually again.

"Ian...!!!!" shrieked Kei again. "Please be serious, just once!!"

"All right, all right. I'm sorry." Ian said after seeing Kei's desperate expression.

"Did dad send you here?" asked Kei. Ian nodded.

"Yes." Ian answered briefly.

"What for?" asked Kei again.

"Take care of you of course." answered Ian again. Kei frowned.

"But what for? I'm fine."

"Your father said you might be in danger."

"Danger? Me?" Kei is confused.

"Kei, your father knows about you and Cayden. About your fight. Your father has been silent all this time because he doesn't want to interfere in your business, because he respects you." Ian explained.

"I can take care of myself." Kei said coldly.

"Your father knows that, even though I don't. He just wants to protect you." Ian said.

"Protect me? For what? So that he is not ashamed to have a child who turns out to be a monster inside him?"

"It's not like that Kei." Ian tried to calm Kei who was starting to get annoyed.

"I don't need protection and stay away from me." said Kei and immediately left Ian.

"Hey...!! you came to me earlier." Ian half shouted. "Wait for me."

Kei walked quickly towards his house. Ian tried to catch him. Kei felt sick of being followed by Ian continuously. Ian stuck to him ever since he entered the school. It's been a week since Ian went to school and it's been a week since Ian stuck to him. Kei felt very uncomfortable and disturbed. Even one school talked about it. On the first day Ian entered, he was already a popular kid because of his good looks. But Ian was different from Kei. Ian is very friendly. He replied to all the greetings of the girls who reprimanded him, accepted all the gifts given to him, even Ian happily talked to the girls. But what makes Kei really upset is Ian did all that by sticking to him. Tim and Ruben never did any of those things. Not because they weren't as popular as Ian but because they thought about Kei's feelings. Moreover, Ian really liked his popularity, making Kei very sick.

"Kei, you'll fall if you walk too fast." said Ian who was still trying to catch up with Kei who was walking very fast in front of him.

"None of your business." said Kei coldly.

"Of course it's my business, I'm your bodyguard. How can I face your father later if I can't take good care of you?" Ian said.

"Then don't be my bodyguard." said Kei again.

"If I can." Ian muttered under his breath, trying not to hear Kei.

"I heard you." said Kei.

"Ah.. I forgot that we are wolves. We have sharp ears and noses." Ian said. "Wait for me."

Ian jogged after Kei. Kei backed away as Ian approached. Suddenly a big wolf appeared in front of them. The wolf growled loudly at Kei and Ian. Kei just snorted annoyed at the wolf. He knew the wolf would irritate him even more.

"Cayden...!!! that's really not surprising." who is Ian?

The wolf slowly turned into someone they knew, Cayden.

"I didn't expect to meet lovey dovey. The former prince with his bodyguard. You guys really are the perfect couple." taunts Cayden

"Cayden, I've been wondering where you are all this time. And here he is. I really miss you." said Ian with a sweet face.

"You're disgusting, you know that." said Cayden.

"And you're just a loser and a spoiled child." replied Ian.

"You--"

"You guys really fit." Kei said as he walked away.

"Kei, how about we finish that time?" Cayden put his right hand on Kei's shoulder. Kei took it off roughly.

"Don't bother me Cayden." said Kei with a sour face. He had had enough of dealing with Cayden.

"Maybe... but we have to finish the fight first." said Cayden.

"What about me? Isn't it time you didn't finish the fight with me yet?" said Ian.

"Do not interfere." said a visibly annoyed Cayden.

"Oh... Cayden, are you scared?" sneered Ian.

"You-- You really have no manners. I'm the prince here, but you still treat me like i'm no one!!" Cayden's voice rose.

"Oopss.. I'm sorry, Your Majesty." Ian said with a slight bow, a sign of respect. "You don't think I'd be respectful like that do you? That's a complete waste of time."

"You--"

"Come on Cayden... let's fight. I want to see if a spoiled brat like you can beat me." challenge Ian.

"I'm not a spoiled child." said Cayden.

"Ohh... I'm sorry. Not a spoiled child, but very spoiled. Yes, it should be, I'm sorry."

Cayden couldn't hold back his anger anymore. Hid face reddened. His jaw rattled. He looked at Ian sharply. He was so sick of him. Ian never respected him like everyone else, even though he was the prince of Lykort.

"Are you mad? That's good then." Ian threw down his school bag. "This will be a lot of fun." he muttered.

"Enough." said Kei who had been silent all this time. "Let's go home Ian."

Kei walks again.

"There seems to be a fight here." said the voice of someone who had just arrived. "Or just a useless wolf pack."

Everyone turned to find Fred, Cayden's older brother. He was wearing light blue jeans and a night blue shirt. Fred came with his two friends.

"Ian, is that you in the high school uniform?" asked Fred. "I didn't know you were sixteen."

Ian just stared at Fred coldly.

"Oh...don't look at me like that." said Fred after seeing Ian's piercing gaze. "Hey Kai."

Kei didn't answer either.

"I think everyone here is mute." said Fred looking annoyed that no one answered. "How is your father Kei? he seems to be getting better. I saw him a few days ago."

Kei still didn't answer. He just turned his face away.

"Hey... I'm talking to you, Kei. If a prince asks, you should answer." said Fred in a cold voice and a sharp look at Kei.

"Don't bother him Fred." Ian finally said.

"Don't interfere Ian, I'm talking to Kei." said Fred.

"If you talk to him you're dealing with me." Ian said. Fred laughed.

"Aren't you overreacting Ian? He's not a kid anymore. You don't have to look after him like that. Even you are willing to wear that ridiculous uniform. You really are pathetic." sneered Fred.

"No, you pathetic one. Even at your age, you still have time to take care of a sixteen-year-old. You always say, grow up Ian. I think you should grow up Fred." Ian scoffed back. "Are you sure you're Cayden's older brother? meddling in Cayden's business makes you look more like a bodyguard to me than the prince you've always been so proud of."

Fred smiled sarcastically.

"How dare. How dare a lowly wolf like you judge me!"

"I may be a low-class wolf, I'm not a noble like you guys. But at least I don't have a lowly attitude like you. Much lower than my status."

"You--"

"Enough! Stop it." said Kei who had been silent for a long time. "My father is fine Fred, don't worry and Ian, I'll warn him to be more polite.

"Wait, why is it me? It should be him, Kei!!" Ian protested.

"Enough Ian, let's go." take Kei.

"Yeah, go. Before I make you die like Dylan." said Fred.

Kei was silent. He was feeling very angry now. He didn't like it when anyone brought up Dylan, his older brother.

"Don't bring up my brother." Kei said coldly.

"Wait, are you mad at me? I'm just telling the truth, that your brother is dead. You should have accepted that," said Fred.

"And are you done with killing him? Tch! you're a cheating family." Kei said coldly.

Fred laughed. "Do you want to die like your brother? I would gladly do so."

Kei took a step forward and glared at Fred sharply. His green eyes had turned pitch black.

"Oh... look. Are you sure you can beat me kid?" asked Fred.

"I can." Ian answered. He stepped forward and was already in front of Kei.

"Don't meddle Ian, I can do it myself." said Kei.

"No Kei, you can't." Ian replied.

"Can you stop treating me like that? Stay away from me!!"

"No! I will not stay away from you." Ian said.

"Ouwhhh...so romantic." said Fred, clapping his hands. "I'm really touched." Fred touched his chest and made a gentle face. All his friends laughed.

Kei glared at Fred and Ian alternately and then left them.

"Kei...!!!" call Ian.

"Look how cowardly he is." Cayden said to his brother. Fred just stared at Kei in silence. There was no laughter on his lips.

"If you... no, if you two dare to interfere with or harm Kei, I swear I will kill you both." threatened Ian.

"Then should I be afraid of a lowly wolf like you? You have no manners. I am a prince... no, I am the crown prince. All Lycanthropes will be mine, especially Lykort and you of course." said Fred.

Ian laughed loudly. "I'm not afraid Fred, you know that. I don't care who you are or what you do. But if you scratch Kei even a little bit, I'll kill you. And you, even knows very well, that I'm stronger than you. do I need to remind you?"

"Presumptuous!! If Alpha finds out, my dad finds out, you'll--"

"I do not care." cut Ian quickly. "He's your dad and the alpha at Lykort. But not me and my dad. He's not my alpha. My alpha is Oston Hector Laros, not your dad. So remember my words Fred, and you know, I'm not kidding." threatened Ian.

Fred and Cayden fell silent. They knew what Ian said was true, all of it. That Ian was much stronger than them and that annoyed Fred. Ian left them all and ran after Kei. Ian ran as fast as he could.

"Kei...!!" call him. Ian continued to run until he found Kei walking slowly in front of him. Ian touched Kei's shoulder.

"Kei..."

"Let go!!" Kei violently slapped Ian's hand off his shoulder and immediately quickened his pace.

"Wait for me, let's go home together."

"No!! leave me alone!!" Kei shouted. Ian knew Kei was furious right now. Ian didn't know what to do. Ian was still following Kei.

"Can you stop doing that to me?" Kei stopped and looked at Ian.

"Doing what? I'm just helping you and it's my job Kei." Ian replied.

"Stop making me look like a child, look weak!"

"But I do not-"

"I really hate you." said Kei finally. He knew it wasn't true, he just wanted Ian to get away from him. Kei walked away.

"Okay, fine. Please hate me to your heart's content Kei." Ian's words made Kei stop in his tracks. "You can hate me but don't tell me to leave you because you know very well I can't even if I want to. You know your father's orders are absolute for me Kei, because he is my alpha, not the king of Ordovic because your father and I have made a wolf pact Kei. And just so you know , not only you who lost Dylan. Me too, Dylan is my best friend."

Kei just fell silent hearing Ian's words. That's right. Dylan is Ian's best friend since childhood. They often practice fighting together, go to school, and sometimes do chaos together. Ian was devastated by Dylan's departure. Ian is a very talented and strong bodyguard, just like his father. King Ordovic even wanted to make Ian his bodyguard, but of course Ian refused because he had made a pact with Kei's father, and he also didn't want to be by the side of the greedy and cruel king.

"Go away, don't follow me." said Kei finally. "Just this once, don't follow me. I want to be alone."
