Last Goodbye's
They were silent when Taehyung got back into the car. He silently whipped his tears with his sleeve. He was trying to mentally prepare himself for the next goodbye he was going to have to face.
They were heading back to the house so that Taehyung and his grandmother could go out for dinner. She had wanted to have a special evening with him before he left.
He wasn’t ready to leave her yet. She’d been his rock all his life and now he was heading off to god knows where and he wasn’t going to have that rock with him.
They had made it back to the house, and his father stopped him before he headed inside.
Kim Woobin
I know this isn’t your first choice Taehyung, but I promise it will be good for you. (Sincere look)
Taehyung wished he’d had the same relationship with his father as he did his grandmother. Maybe this was their opportunity? Taehyung swallowed his pride and decided to forgive the man.
Kim Taehyung
I know, I know you have my best interest at heart. It’s just a lot to get up and leave all my friends and family.
Kim Woobin
You’ll be able to talk to your friends still, and your halmeoni will be able to visit you.
Hearing he’d still get get to see his grandmother help calmed Taehyung’s nerves a little about the whole situation
They headed inside and Taehyung found his grandmother dressed in a sleek black dress.
Kim Yeongae
Go get snazzied up Aein, we’re going somewhere fancy. (Winking)
Kim Taehee
Don’t keep him too long Mother, they need to be at the airport in a few hours. (Eyeing the group from where she was chatting with her father. )
Kim Yeongae
Oh hush, I’ll spend as much time with my favorite grandson as I want. (Smiling warmly at Taehyung as he went to his room to change.)
Taehyung almost mentioned that he was her only grandson so it didn’t actually mean anything. But he knew he’d be the favorite even if he’d had siblings or cousins.
Taehyung put on a dark red suit and fixed his blonde hair. He took one last look in his mirror before he headed downstairs. He looked back at the room knowing fully this would no longer be his room. He’d have a new one come tomorrow.
He headed back downstairs to see his mother and father talking with his grandfather. His grandmother took his arm and led him from the house.
Kim Yeongae
I’ll take you to that new restaurant that just opened up! (Excitedly as walked to the car.)
Taehyung drove them, his grandmother hates driving.
Taehyung thought we’re running everywhere while he listened to his grandmother tell stories to him. She also had some new form of drama or story to tell him. Every weekday she’d go out to brunch with her friends and they’d just have a gossiping party.
Oh what would Taehyung give up to just be a gossiping old lady and not have to go to some secret agent school.
They got to the restaurant and sat down ordering their food.
Kim Yeongae
You’ve been quiet Aein, it’s unusual.
Kim Taehyung
Sorry, I just have a lot on my mind. I’m not really ready to say goodbye.
Kim Yeongae
Oh it’s not goodbye Aein, it’s I’ll see you later. You’d have to put a 100 pound cement wall between us and I’d still make time to come visit you. (Gently, taking his hand into hers.)
Kim Yeongae
I know you’re nervous and scared for change, but you are so strong Taehyungie. You’re going to do amazing things there.
Taehyung squeezed his grandmother's hand with a small tear escaping his eyes.
Kim Yeongae
No, no, none of that Taehyungie. (Wiping the boy's tears with a napkin.) You will do great things, I know that for a fact. And hmmm maybe even find love? (Winking with a small smirk.)
Kim Taehyung
(Shying away from her, a small chuckle escaping his lips.) What do you mean love? (Raising one eyebrow at her.)
Kim Yeongae
I mean, I saw your eyes when they landed on that Jeon boy. Is your Omega finally interested in someone? (Giving him a teasing grin.)
Kim Taehyung
(Rolling his eyes at the old woman.) He stirred a little bit, that means nothing, it was just a picture. He could be horrible in person.
Kim Yeongae
(Waving the boy off,.) Oh hush, there is no way a boy that looks like him can be anything but amazing in person. I’m trying to have some great grandchildren before I die, Aein.
Kim Taehyung
I’m only eighteen, no babies talk. (A stern look came into his face, but he couldn’t help the laugh that escaped his lips.)
The old woman would have him off and married already had his Omega been interested in anyone that his grandmother had ever pointed out to him.
Kim Yeongae
Fine, I’ll wait. But I do want to see you happy Taehyungie. Maybe you’ll find your Alpha or Beta at the agency. (Giving him a warm smile.)
They finished conversing and eating. The meal was really good and Taehyung had gotten the steak, one of his favorites. His grandmother continued to tell him about how this was going to be amazing for him.
It felt different when it was coming from her mouth. It almost felt as though he could trust it more. He trusted his grandmother with his life. And if she thought this would be good for him, then he’d go full fledged into it and become the best agent that he could.
They made their way home and Taehyung stopped her before their entered the house.
Kim Taehyung
I’m still a little worried they won’t like me.
Kim Yeongae
(Touching Taehyung’s cheek gently with her hand.) They will love you, Aein, anybody in their right mind would love you, and if they don’t, well screw them. (Patting his cheek before opening the door.)
Taehyung rolled his eyes but his heart warmed at the thought. He did seem to get along with most people he met. But he was going to be the outsider, most of the team except for Park Jimin would have been on the team together for a couple years. But Jimin still had a year on him.
They walked in greeting his parents and grandfather who were seated in the living room.
Kim Taehee
How was dinner? (A slight edge in her tone.)
Taehyung knew she was probably a little upset that he’d chosen to just have dinner with his grandmother before leaving, but it wasn’t like his mother wasn’t going to visit often. Now he understood why she left a lot too.
Kim Yeongae
Lovely, I do believe our Taehyungie is ready to go.
Taehyung went over to his grandfather and gave him hug telling him he loved and would miss him. He then went over to his mother.
Kim Taehee
I’ll miss you. (Wrapping her arms around him.)
Kim Taehyung
I’ll miss you too.
She pulled away, slight tears in her eyes and kissed him lightly on the forehead.
Kim Taehee
We’re all just a call away if you need us.
His father ushered him towards the car and Taehyung gave his grandmother one last hug before he left the house. He didn’t know when he’d return.
