...Brandon Scott...
"Brandon, what's going on with you, man? I've noticed you've been distracted since the day I arrived at the royal castle," inquired Linkon, his Beta.
"I don't know what's happening to me, Linkon. I haven't felt comfortable since the day I came to this place."
As I was responding to my Beta's inquiries, I caught a familiar scent in the air.
"Do you smell that?"
"Smell what, Brandon? I don't catch a whiff of anything."
Linkon replied as he sniffed the air.
"She's here."
"Who's here, man?"
"The doe. I can smell her lavender scent."
"Doe? Lavender? What are you talking about, Brandon?"
Hey, where are you going, man?
"After her."
"You must be going mad."
"..."
"It seems we're fated to bump into each other."
"Alpha Brandon?"
I was so startled I ended up spilling the mug of coffee I was holding.
"Do you need help, girl?" asked Linkon.
"No, thank you! I can clean this up by myself."
"I'm Linkon, Brandon's Beta."
"My name is Amara. It's nice to meet you. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go."
"Hey Brandon, who's that girl?"
"She's a senior at the academy. I don't know her. Just that there's something off about her. Can't explain right now."
"In that case, we better go to the border. We need to check the perimeter."
"..."
...Amara Follen...
I don't understand this feeling that Alpha Brandon causes in me, the pain I feel in my chest whenever he's near is overwhelming. I think it's a sign that I should stay away from him. I have enough unresolved issues without looking for more trouble.
"Daughter, are you going somewhere?"
"I'm going to sketch some birds. I'm bored in this castle."
"All right, just don't go too far."
"Don't worry; I'll be around."
Art has always been a pastime for me, always helping to soothe my thoughts. After walking a bit, I set up my easel and placed my blank canvas on it, took my piece of charcoal, and started to sketch. Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my head; my vision blurred, and I felt my hand rapidly moving across the canvas. Minutes later, my vision cleared, and I was shocked at what my eyes fell upon on the canvas — a large black wolf. As I studied it, I felt something was missing. I took some paint with my brush and began to give life to its eyes. It didn't take long to complete the large black wolf; its eyes were now painted an emerald green surrounding a golden circle. The intensity of its gaze hypnotized me. Could there really be a wolf with an aura as commanding as this one?
"Amara?
Finally found you."
"Mia? What are you doing here?"
"I came to fetch you for a party."
What are you hiding there?
"It's just a painting."
And what party is this?
"Some alumni decided to throw a party at the pack's club, and they invited the entire academy."
"I don't know, I'm not in the mood for a party."
"I knew you would say that, so I already called your dad, and he said it's no problem as long as you stay at my house. He doesn't want us walking alone in the middle of the night."
"Looks like I don't have much of a choice, do I?"
"..."
"Are you sure this dress looks good?
I think it's too short, and my back is too exposed."
"It's perfect, Amara, and I have the perfect sandals for you to pair with it."
"Hello girls, I've come to pick you up.
Wow, Amara, you look stunning."
"See, even Kyra agrees."
"All right, let's go, I'm ready."
As soon as we arrived at the club, I felt numerous pairs of eyes on me. The girls immediately hit the dance floor. Since I didn't want to dance, I was forced to sit at the bar because all the other tables were occupied. At one of the tables sat Lina with her group of friends. A group of witches occupied a table a bit farther away, and the remaining tables were filled with werewolves. The music was loud, and everyone had a drink in hand. I wasn't in the habit of drinking, so I decided not to take the risk.
"May I sit next to you?"
"Sure."
"I'm Max, from class twenty-three. Our classes are part of hunting and combat." The good-looking boy introduced himself.
"Pleased to meet you, Max. My name is Amara."
"Enjoying the party?"
"These kinds of places aren't really my style, but yes, I'm enjoying it."
...Brandon Scott...
"Man, thanks for bringing me to the party. I know I'm not part of the academy, but I needed to relax a bit."
"You're my Beta; you should be with me at all times."
"I'm going to get some drinks."
While I waited for my Beta with the drinks, my eyes swept the whole place, scenting everyone there. It didn't take long for the sweet aroma of lavender to hit me, and I searched the crowd until I found her sitting near the bar, talking and smiling. Rage filled my chest when I noticed she was wearing a tiny black dress with her back exposed for all to see; my wolf growled at the sight of a man seated next to her.
"Brandon? Finally, you arrived."
"Good evening! Alpha Lina."
"Come sit with me so I can introduce you to some old friends."
"I'm waiting for my Beta."
"Don't worry; he can find you just fine."
I could no longer bear this overwhelming apprehension and the immense desire to be near that girl. I could not keep my eyes off her. As soon as I saw her rise and head toward the bathrooms, I decided to follow.
"I'm going to the bathroom; I'll be back in a few minutes." I left without leaving room for any questions, standing at the darkest end of the corridor, waiting for the beautiful doe to come out.
"..."
...Amara Follen...
I needed to cool down, to somehow alleviate the heat burning within my body. Once my vitals stabilized, I decided I was ready to head back to the party. As I stepped out the door and took a few paces down the corridor, I felt a massive hand harshly pull my arm, causing me to collide with a solid chest as if I had struck petrified rock. A woody fragrance filled my nostrils, alerting all my senses. As I lifted my head, I was startled to find myself facing the handsome man.
"You?"
