Chapter 1 - First Challenger

Episode 1 : World's One and Only

The last floor was a wreck. I couldn't beat it at all.

I'm telling you, upgrade your equipments already. No way you could beat the guys with such weak *** weapon.

The sounds of laughter could be heard. Everyone seems like they're having a normal day as they walked around and talked about many things.
Leaning against the glass wall of a convenience store, Ether snapped close the book he was reading and as he pulled his earphone off, a sigh was let out.
Ether
(Everywhere I go, the only thing I could hear about is that game.)
The book was put into his bag while the earphone was shoved into his pocket. He pulled out a metal mask and put it on his face.
The corner of the mask unfolded and stuck itself on Ether's ears. He then proceeded to check his wristband.
The store's bell chimes and a white-haired silhouette came into view. His hand reached for the onigiri in his mouth and his lips curled into a smirk.
Ether glanced towards him slightly, his hand going back into his pocket.
Ether
You were one second away from being late.
Ether
Let's get going already.
Ren rolled his eyes. He shoved the rest of the onigiri into his mouth and put on his own metal mask.
With the one step that Ether took, the world around them slowly transformed into that of a cyber-based landscape.
Ren
Aren't we waiting for Diluv?
Ren
He left us behind? Wow, what a friend...
Ether
I told him to. You were gonna make us very late otherwise.
Ren grumbles along every step he took as he continuously giving unsatisfied glance at Ether.
The few minutes walk brought them to a small dark alley. A silhouette in black suit came walking and welcomed them.
Kunk
They've been prepared for use. Please go ahead.
The black suited guy proceeded with the payment. They were then guided towards a garage door which was opened manually by him.
The opened garage revealed two motorcycles which had been maintained of very carefully.
Ren excitedly grabbed onto the handle and jumped on the seat. His mask unfolded and covered his whole head, acting as a helmet.
Ren
Ah, Xires! Do you miss daddy, hmm~?
Ether scoffed and headed towards his own ride. Unlike Ren who jumped onto the seat, he put his left leg carefully to the other side and sit on it before starting the engine.
Ether
We'll get going then, Mr. K.
Kunk nodded in response. The heated engines was a signal for the both of them as both the motorcycles moved at the same time.
Ren rides in the lead towards the motor slide as the side of the alley. His motorcycle sped on the slide and as it was released onto the air, the tires turned flat to the side, hovering the ride in the air.
Ether
Careful not to crash into a window like last time, Ren.
Ren
Kuk, shut up! That was a dark past, forget it already!
Ether scoffed once again as his ride sped past Ren. Ren started to speed up more as his face flushed red with anger and embarrassment.
Diluv
Ether's late too, dammit...
Diluv
If it's not for that blockhead Ren...!
Diluv clenched his fist with teeth grinding. Cyan stand up suddenly and spread her hands. Blue particles emerged and quickly formed a shield.
Diluv
We're on top of a whole thirty story building! How are they still attacking?
Diluv quickly supported Cyan's barrier with his. Cyan's black eyes glowed cyan as she analyze their surrounding.
Cyan
One long-ranged rapid-fire weapon user detected. Estimated range, 340 meters northwest.
Diluv
Three hundred and they're rapid-firing...? Don't tell me they're mods user.
Cyan
It hasn't been confirmed but even I'd presume so.
Diluv
Gee, come on! Are they really desperate for the key to hire a mods user?
Diluv
Hey, Cyan! Haven't you done any research about this quest? This is life-threatening enough for even me to just give up if it's not for that guy!
Cyan
Sorry, Diluv, but there aren't even any analysis on this quest having been done by other players.
Diluv
Shit just goes way shittier...

Anyways, this barrier won't hold for long so let's split up. I'll try to hunt down the mods user and you should keep try to contact Ginr while securing a path for me.
Diluv
Think ya can handle that?
Diluv
Alright then. As usual, in three.
Diluv and Cyan both jumped sideways off the building in opposite directions. While Cyan summons a turquoise-coloured hoverboard, Diluv slid on the side of the building and continued running as if gravity didn't affect him.
The attack had stopped the moment the formed barrier dissolved but not a moment passed since Diluv thought of that before the firing starts again at him.
Diluv
Well, at least you chose the right target, you scum.
Diluv
Since it hurts, I'm gonna make sure to rewar—I mean punish you triple.
Diluv
Consider it lucky that I didn't choose to multiply it to hundreds.
As his feet stepped on the ground, Diluv's avatar disappeared from sight and the attack stopped almost immediately as if it was expected.
But of course, things had only just started to get interesting.
