Chapter 4
Narrator (Author)
The next day, Yunxiao was speaking to Jin Guan while reading a
book aloud.
Yunxiao (Fourth Prince)
You must behave before you can be a gentleman. Mother I recently learned mid-level concubine Kang Huan frequently delivers meals to
Haoyu Zhou Zihao.
Jin Guan
You worry she will take advantage to do harm to me?
Yunxiao (Fourth Prince)
I don't dare
Narrator (Author)
Jin Guan tenderly caressed his hair as she spoke quietly and giggled as he stated his sentence.
Jin Guan
She will definitely do it,
silly boy.
Yunxiao (Fourth Prince)
Then why are you so calm Mom?
Narrator (Author)
Jin Guan chuckled softly as she spoke.
Jin Guan
You've read a huge number of books. You still don't know what it is, but destruction will get worse as she becomes more
active in the future.
Narrator (Author)
Jin Guan looked at the light blue sky as she continued to speak
Jin Guan
Oh right a few days will be your father's birthday
Jin Guan
Jin Guan looked at Yunxiao as she gave him a wink as she continued to speak
Jin Guan
Write a gift of
congratulations! Don't try to write too well.
Narrator (Author)
Yunxiao simply glanced at Jin Guan as if he were a cute
10-year-old before bowing his head
down in respect and spoke.
Yunxiao (Fourth Prince)
I understand.
Narrator (Author)
The scene changes to a room at the Royal Palace as the
days go by and it is Ke
Zixin's birthday. As Kang Huan talked, there
were many gifts, including a pricey jewelry, and it was the emperor's room.
Kang Huan
These appear to be the birthday presents Sister
Jin presented the emperor. What a
significant issue
Narrator (Author)
Kang Huan took an emerald bracelet,
holding it high while
speaking.
Kang Huan
Don't bring up anything
else. This emerald alone is worth a fortune.
Narrator (Author)
As she spoke, Kang Huan clung to Ke Zixin
and put her other hand on his shoulder while
holding the emerald bracelet on her other hand.
Kang Huan
The fourth prince is truly treasured in Sister Jin's
eyes.
Ke Zixin
What does the fourth prince have to do with any of this?
Narrator (Author)
While speaking, Kang Huan put her other palm over her mouth and
pretended to be
surprised.
Kang Huan
The emperor didn't know this emerald bracelet came in the name of the fourth prince
Ke Zixin
It is merely a bracelet.
Narrator (Author)
Kang Huan gently giggled as she spoke politely.
Narrator (Author)
Kang Huan took a grape from a bowl and gave it
to Ke Zixin
while speaking angelically.
Kang Huan
No matter how good the bracelet is, I'm stingy. It is merely present for the
Jin family's grandchildren. Since having a son is now so difficult, Sister Jin has not given birth
in many years. The Jin family naturally
cherishes their daughter more.
Ke Zixin
It makes sense what you
said.
Narrator (Author)
With a smile on her face, Kang Huan spoke softly.
Kang Huan
But I feel that the jade from emperor is better
Narrator (Author)
Kang Huan took the jade bracelet to her palm as she wore the emerald bracelet on her other hand on her wrist as she continued to speak
Kang Huan
Have a look is the bracelet on my wrist more elegant?
Ke Zixin
Nonsense I believe your wrist is as white as snow; no one can
match you.
Kang Huan
I'm so grateful for your affection Emperor,
and I apologize if I don't seem attractive enough. I am aware that I am not as attractive as other people are.
Narrator (Author)
Ke Zixin delicately held her arm and
murmured as he uttered her name.
Ke Zixin
I would have never loved you Huan, if everyone in
the harem was as simple as you are.
Narrator (Author)
As he said that to her, Kang Huan spoke joyfully as she placed her around his arms.
Kang Huan
Please don't blame Sister Jin on her behavior; she doesn't mean any harm.
Ke Zixin
Huan, you're too kind.
Narrator (Author)
She smiled evilly as Kang Huan got up and left his room as she wasthinking.
Kang Huan
(Thoughts): If I see you again Jin Guan, I'll end it
this time.
Narrator (Author)
A male servant came to his room holding a tower of gifts as he spoke
Male servant
Emperor about these gifts-
Ke Zixin
Put this away because Jin Guan's family is so
wealthy that they won't
take the emerald bracelet gift too seriously. As
for Kang Huan reward her with a jade bracelet.
Narrator (Author)
The scene changes to Jin Guan as she sneezed then spoke
Jin Guan
Who is once more talking bad of me, ey?
Yunxiao (Fourth Prince)
Mother, I should leave right away since you seem ill.
Jin Guan
Huh? Why the rush? You have not yet worn this skirt.
Narrator (Author)
Yunxiao shivered when he heard her say that. He then put the skirt
on in another room and walked out
dressed in a girl's clothing. His face was crimson from embarrassment and he
talked in an
embarrassed tone.
Yunxiao (Fourth Prince)
Thank you for the care
Narrator (Author)
Suddenly, the Emperor's messenger spoke.
Emperor's Messenger
The emperor has arrived
Narrator (Author)
When Yunxiao heard that the emperor had
arrived and saw him approaching them, he
froze and hid behind Jin Guan.
Ke Zixin
What are you doing?
Jin Guan
Emperor do you think Yunxiao looks good?
Narrator (Author)
As Jin Guan brought Yunxiao in front of her so the emperor could see him, Yunxiao's face grew
even more red with
embarrassment because he was dressed as a
girl and was looking at the emperor. The
emperor expressed surprise at what he was witnessing by saying Jin Guan in a loud voice.
Ke Zixin
You are aware that Yunxiao is a boy, Jin Guan.
Jin Guan
So? Yunxiao likes it too
Yunxiao (Fourth Prince)
Mom treats me with a lot of kindness.
Narrator (Author)
When Ke Zixin heard Yunxiao refer to Jin
Guan as Mom, he was shocked. He couldn't
believe that Jin Guan had simply allowed
Yunxiao to do so.
Ke Zixin
(Thoughts): Have I heard it incorrectly? She simply allowed him to refer to her as Mom when he called her that. No way, she must
have instructed him to call her Mom when I'm around to simply please me.
Ke Zixin
Humph it's a joke. Yunxiao go get your homework
Yunxiao (Fourth Prince)
Okay
Narrator (Author)
Ke Zixin sat down as Yunxiao went to his
room to change and get his homework. When
he returned to give the emperor his homework,
the papers were disorganized and dirty, and Yunxiao's
handwriting were
terrible. Ke Zixin also looked like as though it was the worst handwriting he had ever seen. Then Yunxiao apologized in a low voice.
Yunxiao (Fourth Prince)
Yunxiao: Mom has recently teaching me how to express congratulations in writing. But because I struggle
with writing, it's really rather ugly.
Ke Zixin
Yes, that is among the worst and ugliest examples of handwriting I have ever seen in my life.
Narrator (Author)
Jin Guan was furious that Ke Zixin was
hurting Yunxiao's
feelings by using harsh words, but she maintained her composure and took the
homework as she spoke.
Jin Guan
Nonsense I think it's good so pure special style moreover the precious and gold son of the Emperor.
Narrator (Author)
She smiled while speaking and winked at Ke Zixin, but secretly,
she wanted to slap his face.
Jin Guan
Whoever has the audacity to forbid him from eating because of
his poor penmanship will be punished correct?
Narrator (Author)
Ke Zixin didn't anticipate her to smile at him as he talked, so he
turned his head aside as she
grinned at him.
Ke Zixin
You! Your temper, you should have adopted a princess.
Narrator (Author)
She spoke while grinning and giggling softly.
Jin Guan
I have fate with the fourth prince
Ke Zixin
It's okay to be stupid. Character is the most important
Narrator (Author)
Saying this Ke Zixin left the Palace of Jianzhang Palace as he walked away he thought to himself in his head
Ke Zixin
(Thoughts): It's been so long since I've seen her
smile, what was that smile earlier, and why
does it feel good to see her smile again?
Narrator (Author)
Guo Chen emerged from a treetop as Ke Zixin was leaving. He
appeared irate as he
watched Ke Zixin converse with Jin Guan
earlier. When Guo Chen saw her smile, his heart
skipped a beat. He also appeared annoyed that Ke Zixin had to see her smile earlier, Guo Chen
thought to himself in the back of his mind.
Guo Chen
(Thoughts): Why did seeing her smile make me happy, and what
does this emotion I'm having now
feel like this? Why did he turn away when she smiled at him and why
is it making me want to kill him for
some reason?
Narrator (Author)
The scene changes to the Royal Palace at Kang Huan's room as the days passed after Ke Zixin meeting Jin Guan. Zheng Zihan was at Kang Huan's room serving but at the same time being a spy for Jin Guan as Kang Huan asked Zheng Zihan
Kang Huan
You say that Jin Guan dressed the fourth prince as little
girls?
Maid of Jin Guan
In addition, the fourth prince
was hardly allowed to
learn by the low-level concubine Lady Jin Guan,
who I believe is raising a kitten rather than a
child.
Kang Huan
In this instance, I think she overestimated how
hard she tried to raise a prince, but it is only
pass the time.
Maid of Jin Guan
And one last thing
Narrator (Author)
Zheng Zihan looked nervously around the
room before
speaking once more.
Maid of Jin Guan
The emperor made frequent visits and
expressed his appreciation for the First Prince
birth to Lady Li Jing.
Kang Huan
Ah she is way out of my league
Narrator (Author)
