Chapter 5 - The First Test

Rio and Azark's relationship continued to flourish over the next few months. They spent as much time as possible together, going on dates, exploring the city, and getting to know each other even better.

But as their bond grew stronger, so did their fears. Rio couldn't shake off the feeling of being vulnerable as an omega, and Azark worried about the potential backlash from his family and friends who may not understand or accept their relationship.

One day, while they were on a date in a fancy restaurant, Azark's fears were put to the test. His old friend, Dax, walked into the restaurant and spotted them sitting at a table.

Azark's expression turned to one of worry, and Rio could sense that something was wrong.

"What's going on, Azark?" Rio asked, reaching out to take his hand.

"That's Dax. We used to be really close, but he's an alpha who...well, he doesn't exactly approve of omegas," Azark said, his voice low.

Rio felt a shiver run down his spine. He had heard stories about alphas who didn't accept omegas, who believed that they were somehow less than human.

Before Rio could say anything, Dax approached their table, a smug look on his face.

"Well, well, well. Look who we have here. Azark, I didn't know you had such an…interesting taste in companions," Dax sneered.

Rio felt his face flush with anger. How dare Dax speak to them like that!

"Excuse me, but we're on a date. We don't have time for your negative opinions," Rio said, trying to keep his voice steady.

Dax turned his focus on Rio, his expression turning even more hostile.

"You don't know the first thing about what it means to be an omega. You're just a...a pet for alphas to play with!" Dax spat.

Rio felt his heart sink. He had heard these words before, but hearing them come from an alpha was even more hurtful.

But before he could say anything, Azark stood up from the table. Rio could see the anger and determination in his eyes.

"Dax, I won't stand here and listen to you insult the person I care about. Rio is a human being, not a pet. And if you can't accept that, then maybe we shouldn't be friends anymore," Azark said, his voice steady but filled with emotion.

Dax looked taken aback for a moment before sneering at Azark.

"Fine. You can have your little omega. But you'll see eventually that they're nothing but trouble," Dax said before storming out of the restaurant.

Rio felt a sense of relief wash over him, but also a deeper sense of love for Azark. He knew that this was just the first test of their relationship, but he hoped that they could make it through together.

As they finished their dinner, Azark took Rio's hand and looked into his eyes.

"I'm sorry that you had to experience that. I promise that I'll always be here for you, no matter what. You're not a pet, Rio. You're the love of my life," Azark said, his voice filled with emotion. Rio felt a smile form on his lips. He knew that he had found someone who truly cared about him, and he couldn't wait to see what the future had in store for them.
