Episode 9

Dimitri

My son cherishes Miss Walton so dearly that I decided to delve deeper into her background, especially since I've allowed my son to spend the night with her. I need to be certain she's the woman everyone claims she is. I've endured enough in life; the last thing I want is for my son to be hurt by a woman. The outcome of this investigation I shall soon know.

Today, after my son played in my office for a while, I left him again with Miss Walton. I ran into her in her father's office while searching for him and my father. As I tried to leave, my son clung to her, and she offered to look after him, so I went off to find our fathers. After our discussion, which felt peculiar and fleeting, I returned to my office where Mr. Walton's assistant informed me that Angela had taken my son out for a meal. I was worried, so I asked the driver to find and keep an eye on them.

After several minutes, the driver reported that he'd found them in a nearby family restaurant and sent me photos. My son is laughing heartily with Angela as they eat, and I've never seen him so happy. I can only hope Angela is the woman everyone says she is – and that my son isn’t hurt by his affection for her.

The driver keeps sending pictures, making it impossible for me to concentrate. Through the photographs, I can see what my son finds so captivating: Angela's immense beauty is radiant, her dark eyes, her smile, her black hair, her fair skin - she looks like an angel, and now I understand why my son adores her. Despite having no blood relation to him, she treats him as her own son, even though she is so young. This girl is unique. I truly hope she's genuine and not hiding anything; it would be distressing to discover something negative about her and be forced to keep her away from my son.

Time flew by, and she came back with my son, who moved into my arms weary and sleepy. Thus, I laid him down in the small crib I have for him in my office, otherwise I'm sure he would have resisted leaving Angela.

After a nap, my son woke up spirited and hungry. After eating, he began wandering and hiding under the office furniture, smiling incessantly and in a great mood. It gladdens me to see him like this; he is my entire world and for him, I am capable of anything.

At the end of the workday, we accompanied my father to our private plane where he and Angel will travel to Russia. We waited for Angel and his wife, but they did not arrive alone – Angela came with them.

"Mommy," as soon as he was close enough, Anton called out and leaped into her arms. She joyfully received him and kissed him.

"Hello, my handsome prince, how are you?" she cooed, hugging him.

"Ready for the trip?" my father asked Angela's parents.

"Yes, all set," Angel replied.

"Well, let's say our goodbyes and board the plane," my father directed.

I bid farewell to my father, as usual, in a formal manner, and then he said his goodbyes to my son and Angela.

"Remember, to get Blanca to go to school without protest, you'll have to blackmail her with a double lock on your door," Mrs. Walton reminded her daughter, which amusingly struck me as an odd way to ensure the little one attended school.

"I know, Mom, you've told me a thousand times. We'll be fine; you're only gone for fifteen days," Angela responded.

"Yes, I hope everything goes well so we can return earlier," Mrs. Walton mused.

And truthfully, I don't fully understand the point of this trip. As far as I knew, we had settled everything in Russia before coming here; I don't see why my father needs to travel with the Waltons now, nor do I understand what they will be doing there. I assume it's important because my father wants to handle it himself, and he hasn’t sought my opinion on the matter at all.

"Princess, I’ll see you upon our return. Remember if you have any questions about any business or contracts to sign, don't hesitate to call us," Mr. Walton advised.

"Don't worry, Dad, I’ve got it all clear. See you soon," Angela hugged her father and kissed his cheek. My son looked jealous, pouting, which caused laughter and tenderness among everyone.

"Don't worry, champ, she won't be taken away from you. You'll have her all to yourself for a whole month," Angel spoke to my son, and he seemed to understand because he smiled again.

After bidding us farewell, everyone boarded the plane, and we left. As we were leaving the airport, I wanted to get to know Miss Walton better.

"I’d like you to dine with us to thank you for all you do for Anton," I said to Angela.

"Right now?" Angela inquired.

"Yes, if you have no other plans, of course," I responded.

"No, I'm free. I'll go to dinner with you," Angela replied, and as if my son understood, he smiled at her, happy.
