The Strange Bond
Silence. Nothing but silence. I smell danger.
Atike blinked thrice, before pulling out the chair for me to join the banquet.
Since Atike can't speak, I had to gather some knowledge about her sign language, in order to communicate.
Eyzel Feray
"Leyla, bir şeyler ye, aç değil misin? (Leyla, eat something, aren't you hungry?)"
My younger brother broke the silence.
Leyla Feray
"I'm eating.."
Kardeşim, benim durumumda olsaydın, senin de iştahın kesileceğine inanıyorum. (Brother, if you were in my situation, I believe you would lose your appetite too.)
You're not more than 9, too young to understand a lot of things.
Father signed a servant to take Eyzel upstairs, along with the food left on his plate. And after Eyzel's gone, his indifferent eyes fixed on me.
Why — Say it out loud! I'm dying from tension.
Baba
"Sana uygun bir koca arıyordum. (I have been looking for a suitable husband for you.) Here are some photos of them and details about their positions, choose one. I'll get you married."
He passed me an envelope, which, probably contains the photos of my suitors. I didn't bother looking at it twice, even.
A bolt from the blue. Father was the only one supporting me, on my persistence about getting married after graduation. What went wrong? ...I don't want to get married any sooner!
How do I get out of this?!

"Baba, Mezun olduktan sonra evleneceğim, bu konuda bir anlaşmamız vardı.. (Father, I'm going to get married after graduation, we had an agreement on this.) ..Please try understanding."
His brows furrowed. The eyes so sharp — he looked at anne (mother), and she nodded, before he answered.

"You are 24 this year, Leyla. Old enough to get married, and have a child, even."

"You can't be serious! I need to graduate before that. Please!"
Kemal Feray
"Whatever we decide for you, is the best thing! You have to understand that! Didn't we give you the best life? Now you won't listen to us?"
My elder brother, Kemal, who was silent for so long, finally spoke — Fiercely as always.
Anne
"The suitors we looked for, they earn enough. And are from respectable families, you should be happy that you even get to choose."
Mom, not you, too. I — How can I tell you that there's someone I love? I don't have the guts to tell you about that... Can't I borrow some time, before marrying the man you choose for me, at least?

"Please.. Just.. Give me time."
Barely able to mumble such words — I stood on my feet, impulse taking over my mind. Without even looking at the faces of my family members, I ran to my room.
I shut the door. Falling on my knees, I buried my face between them. Why, why do I feel this strong urge to cry. Teardrops welling up - I try harder to subdue the pain.
Until, careful footsteps approach me, and a palm softly caresses my hair. I don't have to look up. I knew whom it was.

"Lucifer, can you.. Cuddle me?"
I needed him, his attachment - only then can I be sane. I share this strange kind of bond - to this particular person only. One moment I want to get rid of him, then again I want him.
