Episode 11

Still at the restaurant, and after Montanari testing my patience quite a bit, he decided to call the waiter, signaling with his fingers. The waiter was standing on the other side, a short distance from our table. I understood that he was there only to serve us.

The man came towards us and took our orders. The boy was young, blond, with blue eyes, and was shy around me. At times, he would look at me and become even shyer. I held back a smile, seeing the situation, and how flushed his cheeks were.

"Keep looking at my wife like that, and I will rip out your beautiful eyes and shove them in your mouth, accidenti a te (Damned)," Montanari said, slamming his hand on the table, startling me with his sudden outburst.

"Ethan Montanari, stop that. We are in a restaurant," I reprimanded, feeling embarrassed and ashamed.

"SHUT UP," he ordered, glaring at me with those hate-filled eyes. "Because if you don't, you'll get a beating too," he said, returning his attention to the waiter, who was still standing there. The poor boy was trembling in fear of that idiot who was speaking loudly in the restaurant, making a scene. "Get someone else to serve us and get out of here before I put a bullet in your forehead," he said angrily.

The boy practically ran out, entered one of the doors, and disappeared. With that, I bet he won't work here anymore and will buy a one-way ticket to the ends of the world, with no return.

"Why make a mountain out of a molehill, Ethan? For God's sake, the boy did nothing, and you create a scene like this in a place full of people?" I stared at him.

"Elisa, do you not know what 'Shut up' means? Stop questioning what I do, my wife, because my patience has run out and is at zero," he threatened.

Throughout this month that I have been married to Montanari, I have noticed that he takes pleasure in making people afraid of him. I was, I won't lie. But from today onward, that's over.

A few hours passed. Another waiter served us, and this one didn't even dare to look at me. I don't think he even knows the color of the clothes I'm wearing. The whole dinner was silent. Montanari and I didn't exchange a word. I set aside my pride and started a conversation.

"Husband, what do you think about telling me a bit about yourself?" I asked, taking a sip of my wine.

Montanari laughed and looked at me with eyes full of mysteries.

"I can't believe my dear wife is curious to know about my life. That's new," he replied, taking a sip of his wine, while looking at me over the rim of the glass. "Does my life really interest you, Elisa?"

"Well, you're right. Neither your life nor you interest me in the slightest. Congratulations to you, dear. Are you psychic or something?" I teased.

"I'm not psychic. I just answered to not seem rude."

"You don't even know what that is, because politeness is far from you. It's your worst enemy, believe me."

"I didn't know that, but thank you for letting me know," he said. It seemed like nothing fazed him, and I felt irritated by that. "How about we talk a bit about our marriage, kitty? That interests me a lot," he said, with a calm smile.

"Like what? That I'm an unhappy woman, that my life ended by marrying you?" I provoked.

"How about we talk about how you would like me to f*ck you?" he chuckled, making me angrier.

"Imbecile, it seems like you'll never stop being a jerk, will you? I pity you, Ethan."

"I'm just an eager husband, don't worry," he said calmly. "For me, you're like a new dish that I have to taste, and then savor completely. Being a very rare dish, I have to enjoy every bit of it," Montanari showed a sly smile.

"Be careful with this new dish of yours, because if you overeat, it can cause a big stomach ache."

"Is that a threat?"

"No, my love, it's a warning!"

Montanari was on edge, and it was clear. It was like you were in some kind of game with him, letting him play all his cards, and you playing yours, and leaving him with no way out or no option. He was now very irritated.

"Don't play with me, Elisa. Watch your words. No one threatens me, you know that."

"Really? I almost grabbed a knife to kill you, I just didn't because I didn't want to. Courage is what I have in abundance, but don't worry, because at any moment, I'll send you to hell." I challenged him, my heart pounding in my chest.

"You're very brave, darling. Be careful, because if you make a move, I'll kill you mercilessly, and I wouldn't mind becoming a widower." He slammed his hands on the table again, while burning me with his evil gaze.

"I'm not afraid of you." I challenged him.

Montanari stood up from where he was, straightened his jacket, and walked towards me, grabbing my arms and pulling me out of the restaurant.

Once outside, he threw me against the car and grabbed my neck with his strong hands. I dug my nails into his hands, but it seemed like that was not enough to make him feel pain and let go.

"Maledetta puttana, mi hai gia tirato fuori dal serio." (Damn whore, you already got on my nerves) he squeezed harder. I could feel the lack of air approaching. His eyes were filled with hatred.

Montanari opened the car door with his other free hand and threw me inside, without any kind of gentleness. Then, he closed the door so hard that I could see, through the glass, him punching the car's body, with clenched fists. I heard him give orders to the chauffeur who brought us, to take me back home. I settled in the back seat and waited for the car to finally move to get me out of there immediately.
