Chapter 5

In Veronica's past life, magic was a part of the daily life of the society, but it can only be inherited by blood and succession. So, magic is only common to the noble families.

At the age of 12, Veronica awakens her magic, and it is the power over one's will, which could be dangerous if the Royal family discovered it. Veronica has the power to command anything a person does by looking into his/her eyes, and the said person will do the command unconsciously. However, because of Veronica's limited power, Veronica can only use her power once a day. In addition, the command must be done for at least an hour or the Magic would wear out. But she wanted to test her magic to this world. So, as Arabella was in front of her, Veronica, who was driven by rage, decided to use her ability against Arabella. She stared at Arabella's eyes and uttered the command from her mouth. Arabella was started as her senses gradually faded out while hearing Veronica's words.

" Die... ", her words echoing to Arabella's mind. Then Arabella suddenly took her metal pen from her bag and pointed it at her throat. And her blood splashed as she pushed the pen through her throat, which stained Veronica's clothes. And Veronica uttered a wicked laugh while wiping the bloodstains from her face—

But those were just Veronica's imagination. It is true that she possessed magic from her past life but when she first tried it on a mall staff to get a free dress, it didn't work, she became a laughingstock. Afterwards, she just concluded that magic doesn't really exist in this world. But she couldn't deny that she was disappointed and humiliated back then.

Veronica was just gawking while she was imagining, and she came back to reality as Henry tapped her again.

" Ms. Cruz? ", Henry asked.

" O, sorry... Nice to meet you, Ms. Villafuerte? ", she said. She has no idea how Arriane addressed Arabella in the past.

Arabella was surprised and confused.

" What happened to you? You used to call me, Bella. ", Arabella said.

In the past, Arriane wanted to get close to Arabella. She always followed Arabella and did whatever she asked, but most of the time, she ended up getting played by Arabella and her cousins. For a few years, Arriane held with hope that Arabella would like to befriend her, but eventually, she gave up and chose to stay away from her. And at the same time, she moved with her mother to another house and got separated from the Villafuertes.

" I think I should go now, Ms. Cruz. I hope you will meet again tomorrow at school. ", Henry said, and as he left with a smile for Veronica, he went out the door, straight to his car. As he passed Arabella, Arabella came after him while fixing her glare towards Veronica like she threatened her to stay away from Henry.

Veronica just watched them, with cold shoulders, until they were gone.

" I finally met you... Like that wench, your presence irritated me as well. ", she thought. She grinned as she closed the door, and she felt that tomorrow will excite her.

Meanwhile, Arabella and Henry finally arrived at Villafuerte's villa. Unlike earlier, Henry came back to his cold personality again. He walked straight inside the house, ignoring the maids. But Arabella chased after him and held his arms to stop him.

" Henry... Are you upset? You keep on ignoring me since yesterday... Have I done anything wrong to you— ", she asked with a distressed face.

Henry turned around and faced her. He looked into her eyes and stared at them for a few seconds. But instead of a smile, Arabella saw his cold stares like he looked pitiful on her.

" I'm tired so don't bother me... ", he said.

" A bother...? So going to that girl's house wasn't bothering you? ", she protested.

" That girl? Even though they have already left the house, she is still our cousin. So, you should cherish her as well... And also, don't act like my woman, like I said unto you... We're cousins... ", Henry coldly answered. Then he turned back and went to his room.

Arabella was trembling and blazing in anger while watching him walk away. Her dark personality started manifesting in her mind, and she said,

" When the time comes, you will be mine, Henry... Only mine ", and she chuckled inside.

As what Henry advised her, Veronica had no choice but to attend school. But Henry's sudden change of personality, different from what Arriane knows, still troubled her mind. Her mother drove her to school, but while she was in the car, she felt uneasy from her mother's stares at her.

" Arriane, are you sure that you want to go to school with that get up? *stares* ", Elaine asked.

" Yes... Why you ask, mother? ", she replied.

" Nothing... But I'm worried for you. If there's a problem, then don't hesitate to talk about it with me... I will help you. ". Elaine was worried because of her daughter's sudden change of personality, like she's not the daughter she knew before.

But Veronica just smiled, and suddenly hugged her mother.

" Arriane... It's dangerous— you see I'm driving! "

" Don't worry, mother. Unlike before, I've learned to manage myself. So from now on, I'll try my best not to give you any trouble again ", she said while embracing her.

Elaine felt the tenderness and fondness of her daughter from that embrace. She liked how her daughter had changed, but there was still worrying left inside her heart. So, as she stopped the car in front of the school, she said to Veronica,

" But still, if there's a problem, then tell me. I am your mother and I am worried about your well-being. Do you understand? "

" Okay, I will... ", she answered and gave her mother a kiss on her cheek.

" I shall go now, take care ", Veronica said. But when she tried to open the car door, I couldn't open it. She's still not familiar with it. Then her mother helped her to open it.

" Here you go... ", her mother said.

" Thank you, mother hehe "

" Take care, my dear... ",

" You too, mother. See you later ", Veronica replied. Then Elaine saw a dazzling smile from her daughter's lips and how the morning sunlight reflected and shone on her face, like she saw an angel who came to soothe her heart. After Veronica closed the car door, Elaine found herself smiling as she started up the engine.

" When did my daughter become so lovely...? ", she thought.

Saint Catherine University is one of the most renowned schools in the country. And Veronica was attending this school as a second year accountancy student. This is an ideal school for every student who wants to have a high quality education. But the bad thing about this school is it's filled with spoiled and proud people who harass other students weaker than them, and Arriane was one of them.

Veronica turned towards the school entrance and went inside. But the school guard was dazed and confused when he saw Veronica, the same as the other students around her. Veronica immediately noticed the eyes of the surrounding people, as they were mumbling around about Veronica.

With a normal person, he/she could be embarrassed and intimidated with the glares of the people around like Arriane felt before. But for a Villainess, like Veronica, this is just a piece of cake, as she already used to it back in her past life when she's attending social gatherings. And the reason why she attracted so much attention was because she was not wearing a proper uniform.

The official uniform of the academy for girls is a white long sleeve polo, a necktie and black blazer for the torso, and a skirt that is sometimes above the knee (Black pants for the boys). But when Veronica saw Arriane's uniform in the closet, she couldn't help it but felt embarrassed. There's no way Veronica could wear a revealing skirt. So she decided to wear a plain white dress that can hide most of her skin, especially her legs. Paired with a hat and a small bag that only has a pen, cellphone, a piece of paper, and her wallet inside.

Some people around felt awkward in her outfit, but others, especially males, were enchanted by how Veronica carried herself gracefully and modestly. It is given that modest walk and good posture are some of the things that Veronica had learned from her tutors in her past life as a daughter of a Duke. But some girls were not pleased with Veronica, so a group of three girls stood in her way. The three were all glaring at Veronica.

" Haha what's up with the outfit... I think you came to the wrong place, loser! ", the girl in the middle said while making fun of Veronica. Veronica felt disgusted when she saw her excessive accessories in her ears.

" Sorry, so I don't have any business with a witch like you... ", Veronica calmly answered.

The surrounding students, same as the three girls, were shocked after hearing her answer. The girl in the middle was offended and suddenly raised her fist against Veronica. But Veronica was able to catch the girl's fist with her right arm, she grinned and mumbled,

" Don't ever dare to touch me with that filthy hand of yours...! ", she grumbled. Then Veronica immediately swung her palm and slapped the girl with all her might in her face. The slap was so strong that it stunned and knocked her down.

" HOW DARE YOU!! ", the other girl cried. Then she charged towards Veronica as well with her fist. But Veronica was startled when the girl's fist was suddenly caught by a man with black hair and royal blue eyes, wearing only a long sleeve polo (without a coat) with an open top button.

At the moment their eyes met, Veronica felt her heart stopped beating for a second. His eyes were as calm as the sea and peaceful as the blue sky. But those expressions of his eyes seemed familiar to Veronica like she had already seen them before.

" E-Edward!? ", the girl sputtered as she trembled in fear.
