Chapter 1

The Daughter of the Duke, Veronica Campbell, was sentenced to death because of the charge of murdering her own Father, the Duke. With the Royal Guards, she was walking in the midst of the people, either nobles or commoners, wearing rubbish clothing, and her hands were tied. She felt the dark stares of people around her, but she just walked straight to her final destination.

She stood against the countless people of the kingdom. On her back, a guillotine was waiting for her head. And a man began to speak and said, " Veronica Campbell, you have been found guilty on the charge of murdering the Duke, your father. The punishment for your sin is Death— This time, the kingdom will give you the time to confess your sin while facing its people!". She looked around the crowd. Above the stage, she saw the Prince glaring at her and beside him was his fiancée, Arabella Williams. Then she remembered how that woman framed her for the murder of her Father:

She came back to the mansion and she saw the Duke lying on the floor, then the royal guard suddenly came with Prince George and her fiancée, Arabella. Arabella, acting as the witness of the crime, pointed her finger towards Veronica as the killer. Veronica was known to have many enemies because of her villainous personality, so they called her as the Villainess; so she wasn't shocked at all when the court didn't consider her defences, and found her guilty instead, even innocent.

Veronica knew that it was pointless to insist her innocence from blind people, but still decided to stand for what is true. And said, " I have nothing to confess, I loved my father more than anything, I have no reason to kill my father—"

The people of the empire raised their voices against Veronica. Veronica suspected that they had been paid by her enemies to do it.

But Arabella suddenly spoke and denied her words, " Liar! I know your evil deeds — and I also saw you do it! ", she cried and embraced the Princes like a damsel in distress.

" You're so shameless, Veronica. Do you think anyone would believe you!? ", the Prince said. Veronica was furious inside, but she held back and was calm. Then the royal guards took her and placed her head on the guillotine. At that last moment, she uttered words from her mouth.

" You know, Prince, the only thing I've done wrong was to fall in love with an idiot like you... ", and Prince flinched and clenched his teeth.

" And you, saltwater bitch—".

" What does she call me!? ", she was miffed.

" You think you win now, taste your last chance to live because if we meet again, even in another world... I'll make your life a living hell ", she said.

Arabella was shivering from the dark stares of Veronica. She didn't know why, but she felt very terrified. So she shouted at the guard, " WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? KILL HER! NOW! ".

Prince George was shocked by Arabella's expressions. Arabella was breathless in fear, trembling like she had met with a demon. And Veronica just closed her eyes and smiled, and the rope was cut and the blade fell down.

Veronica found herself floating on an empty space. " Is this hell? " , she uttered. Then a light gleamed towards Veronica. And when she looked at it, she saw a girl she didn't know reaching out her hand towards her. And she heard voices calling out her name and said, " Veronica, please help me". So she also reached out her hand until she could grab it. Then the light began to shine so bright that she couldn't see anything but only white.

She suddenly opened her eyes, and drew a deep breath. She felt like she woke up from a bad dream. When she looked around, she found herself inside of a small room with unfamiliar things to her. Then she suddenly remembered about the guillotine, so she immediately touched her neck.

" My head... ", she said. She thought that her head was cut.

*ring* *ring*

She was shocked when she heard a bell-sound coming from the rectangular thing. She tried to touch it, but she flinched when she felt it vibrating. " What is this thing?", she asked while agitating. Then the image of a girl appeared on the screen of the object, when she saw it, extreme pain came into her head and the memories of a girl, named Arianne Cruz, appeared in her vision.

Arriane, 19 years old, was the third daughter of the house of Villafuerte, who was well-known as one of the richest families in the country. But despite being the daughter of a rich family, she doesn't receive any privilege from the family because of being the daughter of a commoner. She lived with her mother separated from the Villafuertes, but she still couldn't escape from the harassment of her cousins and siblings. Especially, from the second daughter of the house, Arabella Villafuerte.

Veronica, inside of Arriane's body, felt an extreme hatred when that name appeared in her vision. It reminded her of the woman with the same name who killed her and her father. She clenched her hand and grinned from ear to ear.

" It was a coincidence... we have an enemy with a common name, Arriane ", she mumbled and grinned.

Veronica and Arriane's memories had already overlapped inside Veronica's mind. So she became familiar with the things inside the room. But Veronica looked first in the mirror, and when she saw herself, she was shocked and disappointed.

" Arriane, do you know anything about grooming yourself ", she said while asking the real owner of her body. As a former daughter of a Duke, she always maintained her most precious looks toward the eyes of the people, so she was very uncomfortable when she saw her current condition.

" Maybe I should borrow some beauty kits and beauty products from her mother ". She sighed. Her mother, Elaine, worked as an officer staff and designer, and unlike Arriane, her mother likes using beauty products. She knocked on the door of her mother's room.

As the door opened and a woman came from inside, Veronica was shocked when she saw Arriane's mother. Veronica's mother, the Duchess Diane, was well-known because of her peerless beauty and intelligence in the whole kingdom, and she was a kind-hearted mother to Veronica. But she died because of an illness when Veronica was only 5 years old, leaving a scar from her heart. But Veronica still remembers the Duchess' face, and she sought the resemblance of the Duchess from Arriane's mother.

" Do you need something, Arriane? ", her mother asked. But Veronica was dazed, and afterwards, tears began to shed from Veronica's eyes.

" Mother? ", she uttered and immediately embraced her. Elaine was surprised.

" Arr---Arriane... What did happen? ", her mother sputtered. Then Veronica felt the presence of her passed mother, the Duchess, from Arriane's mother, like she was also reborn with her. Veronica pulled herself together and immediately wiped her tears away.

" Nothing... I just missed you, mother ", and she smiled. She tilted her head.

" Are you sure? But it's just 3 days...by the way, do you need something? ", Elaine asked.

" May I borrow some of your beauty kits? ", she said. But her mother was startled and stunned.

" Mother!? "

*Tears of joy*

" Huh!? Why are you crying mother? ", she asked. Then Elaine wiped her tears away.

" I can't just believe that you also want my kits. You said that you didn't want it. And you always bashed me whenever you saw me using them. ", Elaine said.

" What!? What kind of daughter are you, Arriane? Do I need to say sorry on your behalf ", Veronica said inside her mind.

" Okay fine... I'm sorry, so can you please let me use it? ", she replied. Then she saw the sparks from her mother's eyes and suddenly grabbed her shoulders.

" Okay but let me help you", she said while giggling. Veronica felt nervous, Veronica sat on her mother's desk, and there was also a mirror where she could see herself. Even though the mirror only showed the face of a different woman, Arriane, she also saw herself, as Veronica, projected into the mirror.

Then her mother began brushing her hair first. She wanted to protest that she could do it by herself, but she felt that the scene was very familiar to her. That reminded her how the past Duchess, also groomed her in front of the mirror. She felt like time repeated itself.

" Be honest, did you get bullied again? Tell me who it is? ", she suddenly asked. Elaine knew that her daughter was always bullied, especially when she was around the Villafuertes.

But Veronica answered, " Nothing really happened, mother, no need to worry ".

While her mother brushed her hair, she said in her mind;

" The owner of this body was always oppressed by those people for a long time, maybe that's the reason why I heard her calling for help in my dream... So, as my compensation for letting me to use this body, let the true Villainess feed them the taste of true pain... And I, Veronica Campbell, promised that you will love to see them, when I'm already kicking the *** ". She leaned her head upon her hand and grinned from ear to ear.
