Little Emilio hated being left in the care of the neighbor, an old lady with strange hobbies, many of which people related to witchcraft, even so, the child's parents did not get carried away by nonsense and trusted her a lot, so much as to entrust her little son to him.
For him, it was the most horrible of nightmares, he couldn't sleep a wink due to the series of inexplicable noises that were always heard in his small apartment, and especially because of a terrible song that she repeated over and over again to accompany his steps. .
-One two Three; You hear me but you don't see me...
-Four five six; you won't find me...
-Seven eight nine; I'm closer than you think...
The boy then felt stalked, he looked around, he watched every corner, he wanted to hide, but it was practically impossible for him, because it is well known by all that monsters are under the bed or the closet and those were the best hiding places. Not even in his house did he feel safe, because the old woman hummed the same tune all day, and Emilio listened to them because both houses had a common wall.
As time went by, the boy grew older, and the fear became less, until one night, while walking home from work, a whistle echoed in the dark street he was passing... the tune seemed familiar, but couldn't remember exactly. Until the whistles became words:
-One two Three; You hear me but you don't see me...
The blood from the young man's body fell from the blow to his feet, causing such heaviness that it was impossible for him to move them, he was nailed to the floor, listening as a couple of steps approached his back.
-Four five six; you won't find me...
The same terror that paralyzed him then gave him the impetus to run, almost flying, until he reached his house. There, a fit of laughter washed over him, he felt a bit silly running away from childhood memories of him. So, after taking a deep breath, he continued with his routine, first listening to his answering machine messages.
The only one was from his mother, asking him to attend the old lady's funeral. At that moment, he could not stop the chills that rose electrifying his entire body at the same time, and his hair stood on end when he heard again:
-Seven eight nine; I'm closer than you think...
