Episode 5

FIRE KINGDOM

(Evelyn Anganos's pov)

It has been a week since I got married to Prince Cy Kiriakidis.

He is a very friendly and handsome man. He has helped me a lot since i came to the palace but more than a wife he treats me as his younger sister.

I still remember how he had told me on our wedding night that he has someone else in his heart and can only do me a favour by being nice to me. For some time, I felt betrayed and heart broken.

It just made me unhappy because I have loved him from the very day I was born. I used to sneak out of my house just to see him sword fighting, my brother always scolded me for it and even at times punished me but looking at him for a minute also made my day.

It was almost Mid night that i heard a soft sound of someone entering my chamber. Who could it be at this hour in my room? Prince Cy had been sleeping in the house of hope, so it must not be him.

I looked around to see how comfortably my lady-in-waiting, Agapi, was snoring. She must be in heaven in her dream. Oh god! I need to handle it all by myself.

Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.

I look around to pick up a hard object for self defense.

To my surprise the only thing i had with me was a beautiful vase, gifted to me by the Queen on my wedding day.

The Prince was supposed to make this palace beautiful as per the norms but maybe he was just not wanting to take the responsibility. Using the vase for my safety will show disrespect to the queen's sincerity.

I could only use a slipper of mine which was made only for me to wear on my wedding. They were made of gold and had left blisters on my feet as an after math effect.

I hide in my cupboard and wait for this trespasser to enter my bed room but in fact he was waiting for me to make a move. This person is not easy to deal with after all! Darn it!!!

I have to think of a better plan. I remember Mother keeping a rope in my cupboard for safety purposes. I try finding it and then concentrate on the man's shadow which was being reflected by the moon light.

I Have to see his face to be able to tell the Prince to investigate this person no matter what. It might be dangerous for the prince as well.

I search my pockets to find the pepper I had prepared for supper. Its weird to keep it in here but still.

I go a little further to look at his face and see him approaching me. I still can't see his face but when i see a knife in his hands, I try to run from there but he succeeded. He grabs me from behind and whispers something in my ears.

Hearing his voice, tears rolled down from my eyes without notice and the only words which came out of my mouth were,"I thought you will not return if I got married to the Prince, Herbert."

"I never meant a word I said back then, Evelyn, You are and will be my lover. We can achieve a lot after you getting married to the prince. the whole kingdom will be ours. You just need to do what I say."

" When did I become Your Lover? Please let go of me. I have a husband to be with and even if he loves some one else, I love him with my whole heart and will only serve him, so please leave. And I will never be your lover."

I could feel him getting angrier and tightening his grip around me.

I knew if I make him any more angrier than now, I Will be slaughtered dead.

But the only one I could think of was Cy. I somehow missed him. We might have only talked twice but everything he said had an impact on me.

"I will not let you off the hook, my girl!" Herbert said.

I was about to reply that the door shot open and Cy rushed towards me and punched Herbert in the gut.

He released me and ran away through the window.

Cy came close to me and whispered in my ears,"Stop playing with fire."

"oh! i will Cy." I told him.
