My Flirtatious Hubby's Ghoulish Requests
Chapter 5 - Nightmare?
I laid down in the bed, suddenly missing the familiar scent.
Instead of lavender, I was greeted with musty dust and I had a hard time to breathe.
I couldn't seem to settle myself. I felt scared of both the innkeeper and Halford.
Just to keep me in a calm state of mind... should I find something to block the door.
Not the key... who knows if they have made doubles.
I decided to move a heavy set of drawers across, setting them in front of the door.
That way, if anyone tried to get in, I'm sure that they'd have trouble doing so or at least they'd wake me up while moving it.
And so, after I had finished moving it, I laid down in my bed.
My eyes closed, and I eventually nodded off.
I woke up suddenly, looking towards a line of light coming through the door of my bedroom.
Someone was pushing against the door aggressively, and I immediately froze.
Upon noticing that the figure behind this scary attempt at opening my door had nudged the drawers a little, I got out of bed and immediately began pushing against the drawers, trying my very best to keep the doors shut.
I pushed and pushed, the banging getting louder and more frequent.
I felt my blood pumping, the terrifying look of fear on my face turning the atmosphere around me stone cold.
The longer I spent leaning against the drawers, the more harder it got to keep pushing back.
Whoever was on the other side repeatedly kept on opening the door, and I kept on pushing them back.
There was no voice, just loud noises that caused me to shiver in complete fear.
I don't want to be scared anymore...
At that moment, sunrise answered my prayer and shine through the window.
As the light crept up to my nightgown and touched my bare feet, everything suddenly stopped.
The banging, the pushing, everything.
In that moment, I felt peace.
My exhausted body immediately gave up after that, and I think I must have passed out since I woke up in my bed once morning struck.
A knock caused me to press my head at the very back of my bed.
Halford Smith
Lady Katherine? Are you awake?
I took a deep breath and pushed the drawers back to where they were before opening the door.
I immediately closed it half-way when I realised that I was still in my nightgown.
Halford Smith
Breakfast is downstairs. After which we shall resume our route to the Gailwind Heights.
Gailwind Heights... that must be the name of Marquis Stevens's estate.
Katherine Solace
U-Um, before you go...
Katherine Solace
Did you hear any loud noises last night?
Halford Smith
Loud... noises?
Katherine Solace
Yes, like the sound of a bang perhaps?
Halford Smith
Um, no, I heard no such thing.
Halford Smith
Why, did you hear something?
If he didn't hear it, then perhaps it was a nightmare.
A very real-feeling, terrifying nightmare...
