I head towards Liam's room after putting on a blue uniform that is completely plain with no print. There are others in different colors. When I enter, I see a small pile on the car-themed children's bed. His room is all decorated in this style. I approach, kneel on the floor, and start caressing his brown hair.
Julia – Good morning, my sweetie, time to wake up – he grunts and turns to the other side – Come on, Liam, you need to take a bath, and you're already late.
He opens his blue eyes. My God, how beautiful he is. I smile at him.
Liam – I don't wanna go – he says sullenly, and only now does he realize that I'm a new person in the house – Who are you?
Julia – I'm the new nanny, my name is Julia.
I introduce myself, extend my hand, and he looks at it warily but doesn't shake it.
Liam – Are you going to mistreat us like Lisa? – he says, looking at my hand.
Julia – Of course not, my dear, who is Lisa, love? – I say, holding his face so he looks at me, worried that someone has hurt him.
Liam– Our other nanny, but Daddy fired her after she slept with him, I don’t know what that means – Good heavens, I don’t know what to think about him, or if I should kill her for mistreating children, or both. What kind of things have these children gone through, my God?
Julia – It's adult stuff, baby, let's go for a bath, okay? – he nods – While you get undressed, I'll wake your sister up quickly, wait for me there.
Liam – I'm not a baby. – He says, jumping out of bed. I leave his room and go to Liana's room. I'm surprised when I arrive and she's already dressed, sitting on her bed.
Julia – Good morning, princess – I say, and she looks at me startled, then her expression softens, becoming quite curious.
Liana – You look like a plincess, who are you? – She asks curiously.
Julia – How kind of you, you look like a very beautiful princess. – I say, approaching – My name is Julia, I'm the new nanny, and don't worry, I'm not like Lisa, okay?
Liana – Okay.
Julia – Did you take a bath? – I ask, and she lowers her head, I take it as a no – I'll let it slide today, it'll be our little girls' secret, but only if you promise to take a bath tomorrow – I say softly, and she smiles shyly but then shrugs.
Liana – I pwomet to take a bath tomorrow.
Julia – Stay quiet, I'm going to help your brother.
I go to Liam's bathroom, which has the door ajar.
I knock on the door.
Julia – Do I have your permission to enter?
Liam – Yes.
Julia – Whenever someone sees you undressed, when helping you with your bath, they need to ask your permission first, okay? And it can't be just anyone, tell Daddy and Mommy about anything.
Liam – Yes.
I teach him how to wash his private parts and take a bath properly. From now on, I'll just have to stay close to prevent accidents.
We arrive at the school, which looks like something out of a movie, right on time. I decided to accompany them with the driver, after all, it's my job. Dora said it's not necessary, but I want to show that I'm someone who will accompany them in everything.
Julia – Have a good class and a great day.
They don't answer, they look at me strangely. I sigh, well, I guess it won't be as easy as I thought.
I go back to the mansion and help tidy up the children's rooms.
At lunchtime, we all eat together in the kitchen.
Julia – In Brazil, we love rice and beans, steak, fries, or eggs for lunch.
Dora – Here, eggs are for breakfast. – She says while eating.
Julia – I still haven't gotten used to eating eggs for breakfast – I say while eating my pasta – I still prefer bread, cheese, and ham.
Fred – And I like lots of eggs with bacon – the driver says, and we laugh.
Jane – I don't know if it's because I spend a lot of time in the kitchen, but I only like to have a coffee and eat fruit for breakfast. – Says Jane, the cook and Mr. Fred's wife.
When it's time to pick up the children from school, I go along too. We arrive right on time. Soon the instructor hands them over to me. Mr. Fred helps me put them in the car seats.
Julia – How was your day? – I ask excitedly.
Liana – I pwayed a lot. – She says unenthusiastically.
Liam – It was normal – he says without giving space for more questions.
I decide to let it go. At home, I help them with their bath, look at their notebooks and agenda. I see a note from the teacher for the father or mother to go to the school principal's office.
Later, I tell Mr. Evans.
I wanted to take them to the living room, but neither of them wants to play. They each stay in their rooms. I decide to leave it. Tomorrow I'll try a deeper approach. Today I'll give them time to get used to my presence.
At dinner time, they eat silently in the kitchen too. I take the opportunity to have dinner with them right away, after all, we're alone. Everyone has already gone to their respective homes, and apparently Mr. Evans doesn't accompany them at dinner either.
Julia – So what did you play during recess today?
They look at me as if there's no emotion there, nothing. They're children, shouldn't they be sweaty? Or the food cold from talking so much instead of eating?
After dinner, they say they're very tired, but before they get up from the table, I decide to ask.
Julia – Do you know why the teacher wrote a note in your agenda? – I ask calmly. They widen their eyes, look at each other, and shake their heads in denial.
Liam/Liana – We don't know – they say together, heads down.
Liana – Auntie, isn't our dad going to talk to us today? – she asks, looking really sad.
Julia – I think he's still working, my angel – At least that's what I think, I conclude in thought.
Liam – He sometimes gets home early, he just doesn't want to talk to us – he says, and I see his eyes fill with tears, soon followed by Liana's.
Liana – I wanna sweep – she says with her little eyes red too.
I kneel beside them and hug them. I know how hard it is to feel alone, without the affection of a father and mother.
Julia – I'll always be here with you, okay?
They don't answer, they just nod. I take them to the room, first Liam's to get his toothbrush, and we go to Liana's room. They find it strange but don't say anything.
Julia – Let's brush our teeth together, okay? That way you'll always have each other and never be alone – I say, and they shrug, starting to brush their teeth.
When they finish, I wipe where they got wet, and I take the opportunity to ask
Julia – Isn't it good to have company? – they agree – Especially from those we love, right?
Liam – So does that mean our dad doesn't love us? – He says, and I realize that he's quite mature and intelligent for his age. I take a deep breath before answering.
Julia – He does love you, my dear, but he needs to work to be able to give you everything good and best.
Liana – I pwfefer my daddy – she says, I think my heart cracked now.
I put them to sleep, first I hug them and give them a kiss, a little quick? I don't care, since I met them I felt a soul connection, I felt like it was for me to love and protect them, it must be because I also didn't have a present father, I don't even know who he is, or because my mother was a drug addict who didn't care or simply didn't care about her daughter? Maybe, but I'll do the impossible for them, then I'll deal with the consequences.
Liana and Liam (three years old) ❤

In this work I'm trying to adapt to writing in the way you ask me to, it's being quite a challenge.
Please don't forget to like it ❤
