(Julia Mendes)
After much searching, I finally got a job. I even thought I wouldn't get one, after all, what kind of person hires someone without qualifications to take care of their child? Of course, to gain experience, I need opportunities, but a billionaire CEO hiring just anyone without even a supplemental interview is quite strange, although, in reality, he wasn't even the one who interviewed me.
Not that I'm complaining. I was starting to despair because I had very little money to help with the rent I share with a friend. After all, I was fired 4 months ago without any rights, all because I didn't agree to go out with my married boss every time he found me and bothered me. Determined to put an end to it, I spoke with his wife, who was the coffee shop manager, and she fired me without any rights.
It's unbelievable how blind some people are in these types of relationships. For her to act like that, she must go through it regularly. I only regret my job and her accepting this kind of humiliation. One day, everything will catch up.
I'm Brazilian, I came to New York to try my luck after finding myself alone, without anyone. My mother didn't know who my father was. When I was eighteen, she died of an overdose. Then, a year later, unable to bear the judging looks from the neighbors because of my mother, I finished my intensive English course and came here. Within a month in the city, I got a job at the coffee shop, stayed there for 8 months, and tomorrow I'll start as a nanny.
Alisson – What series are we going to watch today?– my friend who New York and the coffee shop gave me asks, sitting next to me on the sofa and taking a slice of pizza.
Julia– What Life Took From Me – I say, and she rolls her eyes.
Alisson– I'm going to miss you, I'm even going to miss those boring soap operas – she says and hugs me.
Julia – Me too, but I'll come home on weekends, you won't get rid of me that easily, silly – I say, making her roll her eyes.
Alisson– Yay, at least I'll have the whole week to have some good, loud sex – she says, and my face turns red, unfortunately, I hate that– I love how you blush, little virgin.
I'm not a virgin, I lost my virginity with a boy from the English course, it was so bad it only lasted three minutes, barely enough time to break the hymen.
After that, my mother died, so I worked hard to save money to move in a year. I was never one to make friends, which complicated things. When I arrived here, I only looked for a job and worked, and I don't think about it. They say men only cause problems, so I decided to stay away. After all, I'm running away from problems.
Julia – I'm not a virgin and I'm not interested in talking about my sex life. – she rolls her eyes again, she must have a headache already.
Alisson– You're annoying, Julia, have you packed your bag? – she asks while eating. I've already eaten, unfortunately, I can only handle two slices of pizza, I'm small and my stomach matches my size.
Julia – Yes, I'm only taking lingerie and sleepwear, after all, they said I'll be wearing uniforms.
Alisson – Well, that saves on fabric for your clothes – she says, and we laugh.
Julia – The salary is very good, if I pass the probation period, I'll start an online college course and I'll be able to pay for you too – I say, moved.
Alisson– I love you, you know that?– She says, hugging me, and I return the hug tightly.
Julia – I love you more, now let me watch Alessandro.
Alisson— He's a hottie indeed, but I prefer her with Jose Luiz.
Julia – Don't start.
Alisson– How old is the child?
Julia – I don't know, they barely interviewed me, and it was the CEO's secretary. She only asked if I liked children. I said yes, so she said I was hired, wrote down the address, the amount I would receive, and told me I would sleep at the house from Monday to Friday.
Alisson— That's weird.
Julia – Yes, but I need it and any sign of danger I'll call the police.
Alisson – That's right, already leave it on quick dial.
We watched a few episodes of the soap opera, hugged a lot, I'll have to leave super early to get there around seven thirty in the morning.
When I arrive at the address, I see that it's a very luxurious condominium, real mansions. The lady who I now know is the housekeeper came to greet me with a somewhat distrustful smile, she was as short as me and had huge rosy cheeks.
Housekeeper– You are Ms. Julia?
Julia – Yes, that's me, and please just call me Julia, Ma'am.
Dora – I'm Dora – She says and extends her hand, I accept her greeting – Let's go in, the children are still sleeping.
Julia – Children? – I say when I stop walking.
Dora – Yes, the twins Liam and Liana. – she says as if it weren't obvious.
Julia – Well ma'am to tell you the truth I didn't know anything since I was barely interviewed, now the value of the salary is explained. – she smiles weakly
Dora – Over time you will understand why they didn't give you details – she says looking sad. Finally recovers and continues – They just turned three, now in the morning they go to school and only arrive at four in the afternoon
Julia – Hum all right.
We go up a huge staircase and she tells how the house schedule works, and the children who thank God only study. I've read that rich parents create a routine that even I couldn't handle for children, it's a good thing these don't or else I would need a nanny.
Dora – This is your room, it's next to the children's room, on this corridor there is only your room and the two children's rooms and that is the playroom – points to the door next to my room – and this is Liam's room and that one Liana's.
Julia – ok, I can do it. – I say confidently, but to myself, Dora looks at me enthusiastically and agrees
Dora – Yes, you can girl, the house has few employees daily, there's only me but I go to my house before nightfall, rarely I sleep here only because of the children, the cook and the children's driver are married and live in the staff house at the back of the mansion. The two cleaners only come in the morning and the kitchen helper also comes in the morning and leaves at nightfall. The children have breakfast at 8:00 am at 8:30 am their Fred takes them to school, at 4:00 pm he picks them up, at 7:00 pm dinner.
Julia – All right– I enter what will be my room and leave my bag on my bed, I have to wake up the children and get them ready at the speed of light.
Dora – they like to have porridge before going to sleep, if you need help with anything I'm in the kitchen, important warning, whenever the children start asking about their father or mother, make up some story or start a game, although they already realize that their parents don't care about them, anyway we try to make everything better– she says and turns around, but seems to remember something– good luck girl and welcome, your energy is wonderful, don't be like the former nanny, these children deserve to be treated with a lot of love at least by someone.
