Jared set his glass down and strolled casually toward Thea. He pushed through the men crowding around Thea and Joan.
"Stop," Jared spoke with his heavy baritone voice, instantly freezing them in their tracks.
Thea, disillusioned by her empty bottle, finally struck the man in front of her who was about to grab her hair.
"NEVER!" Thea snarled at Jared.
Her bare feet made her more agile as she took on the assaulting men.
"STOP IT!" Jared yelled.
Thea and several of her attackers seemed to ignore Jared's outcry.
"I SAID STOP IT!" Jared bellowed, his voice heavy as he slammed the table in front of him, breaking it in two.
The scuffle abruptly came to a halt.
Thea, who was gripping a man's hair, flung him to the floor.
She looked over at Jared, approaching him carefully and on tiptoes to avoid the scattered bottle shards on the floor.
"You're my type, my handsome Tarzan," said Thea with a smile.
'Crazy woman,' Jared thought, looking over at Thea's blue streaked hair.
Then, noticing Thea's feet were slightly bleeding from the glass, Jared carried her out of the bar, with Joan trailing behind.
"Where's your car?" Jared asked.
"Over there," Thea pointed to a truck across the street.
Jared raised an eyebrow then looked back at Joan.
"Over there, Sir. Sorry, my friend gets a bit wild with the beer," Joan apologized with a bow.
Now Thea felt the effect of her earlier drinks. Her head rested against Jared's chest, and she closed her eyes.
Jared took her to Joan's car.
"JOANN!!! What are you doing here?" someone called, recognized by Joan as her uncle.
"Uncle Jo? Oh God," Joan panicked, jumped into her car, started it, and sped away.
"HEY!!!" Jared shouted after Joan left with Thea still in his arms.
Uncle Jo started to chase Joan's car, muttering, "That naughty child."
"Sir, do you know this woman?" Jared asked.
The man named Jo turned to Jared and saw the sleeping Thea.
"I don't know her," Jo said and walked away.
"This has to be my unluckiest night," Jared muttered.
He then proceeded to his own car, laying Thea in the back seat.
Stepping out of his car, Jared pulled a pack of cigarettes from his jacket pocket.
Ten minutes later, the car door opened, and Thea vomited outside.
"Disgusting," Jared muttered, puffing on his cigarette.
Thea leaned against Jared’s car and looked at him.
"Where’s my friend?" Thea inquired.
"She ran off," replied Jared, still sitting on the hood of his car.
"Good," she said.
"I’ll call a taxi. Where's your address?" Jared asked, stepping down from the hood.
"I want to go with you. I'm an adventurer, so I'll join you tonight," Thea declared.
"I might just take advantage of you later," Jared said casually.
"Oh really?" Thea stood and staggered toward Jared.
She took Jared’s cigarette, inhaled, then blew smoke in his face.
"I’m very good at judging character. You’re no rapist, my Tarzan," Thea said.
Jared smirked and stepped closer, staring intensely into Thea’s blue eyes.
"Oh God... You smell of vomit, Miss," Jared said, promptly stepping back and getting in his large car.
Thea followed into Jared's car, and he looked at her.
"What are you doing?" Jared asked.
"My car's gone, and my friend abandoned me. Surely you wouldn't leave a pretty girl like me in this lion's den?" Thea fluttered her eyelashes repeatedly.
Jared didn't respond. Then Thea shifted in her seat to sleep.
"My head is killing me, and I think I’m really drunk, so drive," commanded Thea, already closing her eyes.
"Alright, just wait and see what I'll do with you later, Miss Rich," Jared murmured.
"I'd like whatever you do to me," Thea replied faintly, still asleep.
"She's so crazy," Jared mused.
