Chapter 1 - What Is A BFF For?

I've been stuck behind this desk since 8AM this morning.

I can almost feel myself merging with my seat.

It's the busiest season for our department and I haven't been able to relax in ages.

Scheduling fashion shoots, making sure to profile any potential new models who might boost our ratings even more, and sorting out important issues with this season's wardrobe with our designers.

I can't even look away for a minute unless I want to be left with a backlog of emails to read and reply to.

Lisa Taylor

Caramel macchiato, two pumps vanilla, extra cream.

I looked up and almost cried when I saw my savior and best friend Lisa walk in with my favourite brew from the coffee shop down the street.

She chuckled.

It's the least I can do, after all I took the morning off for an appointment and you had to pick up my slack.

Violet Gardenia

It's fine. After all...

We looked at each other and spoke at the same time.

We laughed at each other as she then took her seat next to me and began helping me with my backlog of emails.

Ever since I first entered the company three years ago, Lisa has always been by my side.

She vouched for me when there was a discussion as to who should replaced the previous manager, who had retired.

Now, people call me Manager Violet and I've got an insane salary.

However, I'm sure that it is only that high in order to compensate the overtime that we are forced to put in every evening.

I took a sip of my macchiato and I fell back into my chair.

Violet Gardenia

It's so good...

Lisa Taylor

I'm glad that you like it.

She then leaned forward and smiled.

You always make such a cute expression when you're enjoying food or drink.

I blushed.

Violet Gardenia

D-Do I?

Lisa Taylor

Don't be embarrassed, it's cute.

Lisa Taylor

Be careful not to show it in front of the guys in the PR department. I'm scared that they'll be after you like hounds to their dinner.

Hounds? Dinner?

Seeing my confusion, Lisa quickly changed the subject.

Lisa Taylor

Oh, could you go bring this to the director?

Violet Gardenia

Hm? What is it?

Lisa Taylor

Oh, just a draft for something. It's urgent, so could you go up now?

Violet Gardenia

Yes, of course. I need to stretch my legs anyways.

I took the folder that she gave me and slowly walked out towards the elevator.

The moment I was out of sight, she took out her phone and began texting a certain Assistant Smith, a mischievous grin crossed her lips.

Lisa Taylor

Hehe, Brother, you owe me one again.
