Penny was having an injection after she had gone through the follow-up examinations. I was sitting beside her in silence as if I was her family, but I felt wronged.

A doctor dragged me out and said, "Young man, your girlfriend is quite weak. She even has symptoms of anemia. You have to take good care of her after this. Or there might be other complications as she grows older. I'll prescribe some dietary supplements for her, and you need to get them at the pharmacy on the second floor."

I nodded. The 200 dollars from Emilie's card would be enough to cover those.

I went to the second floor. It took the staff member five minutes to collect all the supplements on the prescription. "502 dollars. Card or cash?"

I froze and then yelled, "What the hell are these? Are you trying to blackmail me?"

The clerk was still calm. He turned to the man who just bought medicine from the window next to mine and said, "He just spent 1,300 dollars on her girlfriend. If you don't have enough money, why did you knock your woman up?"

"Idiot!" I scolded that man. Then I recalled Penny's pale face, so I had to take out Emilie's bank card again and said, "Give me a discount. Or at least a two-dollar off."

The staff member took the card away and rolled his eyes at me. "That's new. Do you think you can get a discount at a hospital?"

I felt heartbroken about the lost money. Having a friend with benefits was so costly.

I walked Penny out of the hospital. The rain brought the atmosphere down to depression.

Penny walked beside me for a while. To my surprise, Penny asked, "Howard, do you think I should go to Bayberry for filming? I got invited."

"Do you think it's a reliable source?" I didn't want to irritate Penny, yet I had zero interest in her career.

"I've gone to the audition. The director and the producer were satisfied. They thought I was fit for the role."

"Then, sure. I thought you models always dream of getting into the show business. Grab the chance and get it. And by the way, these are from the doctor. Remember to take them. I'll text you about how to take them." I then handed the bag to her.

Penny didn't take it. Instead, she gazed at me for a while. Penny said softly, "It's only a transition. I graduated from Sylin Theater Academy. I majored in acting."

"Holy shit! No wonder you could fool me every time. It turns out you are a pro! I'm so blind. How can I never see that? You are an STA graduate!" I said scornfully.

Penny ignored my irony. She then looked at me and, "Howard, do you think I'm pretty?"

"Why do you think I slept with you?" I stared at Penny. She was the hot and attractive next-to-door kind of girl.

Penny nodded. "Howard, forget about Jane. When I become famous, my love will belong to you. Only you." Penny then took over the bag and then left.

After a while, a breeze pulled my senses together. I then recalled the appointment with Emilie at 1 p.m., yet it was already one-thirty. I grabbed a taxi and headed to my old place. On my way there, I recalled spending 602 dollars from Emilie's card, yet I told her I would only take 200 dollars. How was I going to pay her money off?

I panicked when I thought of Emilie's gorgeous face.
