Chapter Four

"Oh I see, so you skipped your work today?"

Brio chuckled as I told him about what happened with my encounter with the disciples of Sky Castle, those three cloaked men and that I supposed to have work today.

I'd been sitting here at the castle's main room talking with him for half an hour now while we await the King's call.

The other guy, Jazz, was still soundlessly sleeping on the couch across us. I peeked at the book on his face and the title was "Percy Jackson". So this guy must be a bookworm recalling what Fredrik told Brio earlier.

"I wonder how are they doing at the restaurant right now." I sighed before taking a sip on my tea.

I had so many questions for the Song beside me yet I just couldn't have the face to bomber him with them. Since I was facing a leader right now, it's a good opportunity to ask about the situation here in the Sky Castle, right? And about the crisis in our country and why they gone silent. But I think pointing all that to this guy might be too rude of me. I must first hear what the King had to say.

As I was stirring my tea with a spoon, I heard voices and looked up to see the two new guys who just entered.

I gasped when I saw that one of them was the blonde guy I met from the restaurant, the Love Prince. As expected, his handsome face never failed to make me blush. Maybe he's a foreigner because he looked like one.

The guy with him was taller and had short dark hair. He was wearing glasses and was holding something that looked like a document. I noticed a glimpse of light on his finger and I saw that it was the same ring that Brio was wearing. I furrowed my eyebrows and looked at the love prince's finger. He was also wearing the same style of ring. The sterling silver jade ring.

What's with the ring that almost all these Songs were wearing them? Maybe it had something to do with the Sky Castle, that a leader must own one? Or was it only for the Songs? I wonder what's so special about that ring.

The glasses guy was the one who first noticed us. He pushed up his glasses as he looked at me.

"Oh, we have a visitor." He stated coldly.



I was surprised at how unfriendly he seemed. The vibe he gave off was kind of intimidating so I just gave him a hesitated smile. I wonder what's wrong? Or maybe it's just the way he was.

The love prince looked at us and as soon as his blue eyes landed on me, his lips gently curved upward and I soon forget the intimidation I felt. This angel was here now so I shouldn't worry anymore, I guess.

When I realized how absurd these thoughts I had, I shook my head inwardly to clear them of.

What was I thinking? It felt like I was crushing on this guy. I didn't even know his name yet, and I just met him. Oh my god, what's wrong with me?

"You're here, Medley." The love prince said quietly and both guy looked at him, surprised.

"You've met already?" asked the glasses guy.

"You two know each other?" asked Brio at the same time.

"Yeah, we met at a restaurant yesterday." The love prince answered and the glasses guy shot him a look.

"You've been out alone just to eat to a restaurant? What were you thinking?" The glasses guy said sharply and the love prince just shrugged.

Watching them, it seemed that the things they could do was so limited that even eating at a restaurant or going out alone was prohibited. This blonde guy just broke a rule and now he was being scolded by his co leader.

If I became a key, would I be forced out to quit my job at the restaurant? Thinking about that made my hear sink. I had grown to like my job and the people there.

I turned to face Brio. "I'm sorry I forgot to tell you. Yes, he's right. We met yesterday at the restaurant I was working at."

I glanced at the Love Prince and smiled sheepishly. "I was actually surprised to see you there and serve you as a costumer. So you're the Love Prince, yes?"

I tried to let go of my awkward self to say something just to ease the tension between him and the glasses guy. I didn't know why I was thinking it's all my fault.

He returned my sheepish smile as he looked at me. "Yes, you're right."

I could feel my face flushing so I lowered my head. The way he stared was something I couldn't hold much longer. Suddenly I remembered that I still hadn't learned his name yet so I should grab this chance to ask him.

"I'm sorry, but I still haven't know your name. M-may I?"

His eyes widened slightly and I could see his face reddened and he looked away.

"I-I'm sorry I forgot, my apology. It's Apollo."

Now he was acting shy and embarrassed and it's just so damn cute. Was the first song really this innocent? Even his name was beautiful.

I glanced at the glasses guy but he's just wearing a straight face. The embarrassed first song didn't amuse him.

I heard Brio laughed and turned to face him. He stood up and walked towards them. He put his arm around Apollo while still laughing. The glasses guy was just watching them with his brows knitted together.

"Now our love prince appeared to be not knowing how to introduce himself right. What a first song you are." Brio teased Apollo.

"Oh and young lady, this other guy here is Banjo." Brio addressed to me and I glanced at the glasses guy.

"Banjo, she's the summoned Major Key, Medley."

Wait, what? Major key? So I was summoned as a Major key?

Since there were two keys, they were known as the Major and Minor key. Or also known as the First and Second Princess. And after hearing I was summoned as a key, I was hoping that I would be the minor key, so not much responsibility. But me as the Major key? Seriously?

"Oh, I see." Banjo said and I noticed a slight change in Banjo's expression, like a shadow falling to his face but it was just for a slight moment. He turned to me with a cool expression instead and pushed up his glasses again. "I'm Banjo, the Fourth Song. I'm the Hate Prince." He introduced formally.

My mouth widened in understanding. So that's why his attitude was like that, he's the Hate prince after all.

I found Brio watching me and seemed to get what thoughts I had in my head.

"And his title doesn't have to do anything with his personality, alright? He's not really like that, Medley. He just have a... situation."

Oh. I wonder what did Brio meant by that? As I stared at Banjo, he actually seemed familiar, or maybe his name. Maybe I remembered him from a ceremony before but thinking about that, I'd never had a clear look of their faces before since I was always watching from afar.

Banjo shoot Brio a look. "Shut up, happy prince."

I nearly snorted but successfully held myself back. I didn't wanna upset Banjo anymore than he already was.

"So Medley's the summoned Major Key." stated Apollo as if he wasn't surprised about it. Maybe he already knew about me after meeting me at the restaurant, I guess?

Banjo noticed the sleeping guy Jazz and neared him. "What a prince."

He lightly kicked the couch in attempt to wake him up but Jazz just groaned.

"Have manners and sleep in your own chamber."

Jazz didn't move an inch. Banjo reached out his hand to take the book from his face but it seemed like Jazz sensed it and put his hand on it. Jazz's finger was also wearing that same ring.

"This guy doesn't learn." Banjo sighed, but he didn't sound angry.

"I'm off, then." He looked at me, then at Brio and Apollo before disappearing into a door that leads to a long hall.

After a long silence, Brio decided to break it.

"So say, Apollo. Where do you head to? You came here with Banjo from the throne room, what's the matter? And where are the others?"

As I heard the word "others", I suddenly felt nervous. I think meeting three of them was enough for today. And there's still the king.

"Ah, I was just about to head to my own chamber but seeing that Medley is here, I guess I have to return her good service by entertaining her today." Apollo said and nodded his head to me. The gesture made his wavy blond hair bounce.

"The king discussed something about matters at hand. He'll discuss about it with all of us tomorrow. And the others are on their own rooms, maybe all surprised with the news of summoning new Keys despite-"

Apollo was cut off by the sound of a door and we both looked up at the sudden appearance of a woman, or should I say, a maid. She bowed to us before delivering her message.

"Greetings, my lords. I am here to bring the summoned Major Key, Medley Donahue, to the throne room as ordered by King Orpheus."

I gulped as nervousness once again flooded my whole body. So my relaxation time with these friendly princes was done and it's the time to face the real reason I was here all along. To meet the King.

I couldn't help but be anxious about meeting the leader of Cradle, King Orpheus. How should I face him? How should I talk? Wha would King say to me? Why would he summon like me as the Major Key?

I suddenly felt a tap on my back and I turned my head. Brio was giving me an encouraging smile as he tapped my back.

"Now it's not the time to get anxious young lady. Cheer up, the King won't eat you."

"Yeah. And I know you needed to hear everything from him, right?" Apollo said with a kind smile on his face.

"Okay." I sighed and rose from the couch. I slowly made my way to the maid who was still standing, waiting for me.

"This way, young mistress. Follow my lead." She held out her hand towards the door where Apollo and Banjo emerged from and I followed her as she started to walk.

I stopped for a moment and looked back over my shoulder at the two Songs. I smiled to them and bowed.

"Thank you for your time, Brio and Apollo. I appreciate it."

Apollo just smiled and Brio waved his hand.

"It's nothing. You're one of us now, so please look forward for our company often." Brio said and my heart softened.

"Of course." I said in a quiet voice before disappearing into the door after the maid.
