Chapter Three

As soon as we arrived at the Sky Castle after crossing that long stone bridge, my eyes stared at the beautiful scenery that never failed to amaze me as we exited the fancy car.

The white castle was so big and it was made of glass that glistened under the sunlight. The castle looked like a large crystal sparkling with its unnatural beauty. It was surrounded by beautiful green grasses and trees that danced as the wind blew across them. We only get the chance to see this castle if the Formal Ceremony would be held.

It's an event where Key would introduce her chosen Song (the Chosen Song will be the Main Song despite what rank he was) and all Songs will perform their magical melodies to cast the protection around our country.

Now thinking about it since these cloaked men told me that I was summoned as a Key, those responsibilities would now be mine as a new leader of Sky Castle.

I shook my head with those thoughts right away. There's no confirmation yet that I was really summoned unless I hear it from the King himself.

"This way, miss Medley. Please follow us." One of the cloaked men said, pulling me out of my thoughts.

I turned on my heels and follow them. We ascended the glass stairs that leads to the door of the castle.

As the cloaked man opened the double door, I noticed that the door handles were shaped like the Eight Note.

"Everything about this castle is music." I breathed, mesmerized by the whole existence of the Sky Castle.

As soon as the door opened, I was blinded by the light that I shut my eyes close. When I opened them, my eyes and mouth widened in both surprise and amazement as I took in my surroundings.

The inside of the Sky Castle was mesmerising. Everything was sparkling. The floor tile was made of white nano glass that I felt guilty stepping my feet on them. Soon my eyes were caught by the grand imperial staircase with wrought iron railing connected to the interior balcony.  There's also a crystal chandelier hanging from a beautifully carved domed ceiling that lit up the whole place.

Whoa, this place was majestic. I was really inside the Sky Castle which everything seemed to be made of crystal.

We were soon greeted by a tall man with a wrinkled face, a gentle smile plastered on it. Sliver strands lined his short dark hair that shone under the bright light. He's wearing a tailcoat which told me right away that he's a butler.

The disciples man introduced me to him and the butler bowed to me right away. I waved my hands sheepishly as I told him that he could drop the formalities.

The three disciples left as soon as they explained everything to the butler, whose name was Fredrik.

Fredrik made me sit on a fancy couch as he disappeared to prepare a food for me even though I told him I was all good.

He informed me that the King was busy for the moment and would meet me after an hour or so.

I sighed as I thought about being absent from my work today. I texted my manager while on I was on a ride, and told him I was feeling sick today so I couldn't come to work.

When my eyes landed on a couch across me, I cursed inwardly when I just noticed that there was a guy sleeping soundlessly. I couldn't see his face because it was covering by an opened book. Maybe he fell asleep while reading. Is he one of the Songs?

I sighed in despair as I realized that I would be surrounded by these Princes once I really become a Key.

Girls always dreamt about being surrounded by handsome princes but in my case today, I felt very nervous and unsure of everything.

As I blankly stared at the sleeping guy while thinking all about these sudden turn of events, I hadn't noticed another guy who took a seat beside me until he spoke.

"Watching our Jazz, eh?"

I suddenly jumped from my seat and saw a guy sitting beside me. His cheek was resting on his fist as he stared at me, a smirk on his face.

I gasped as I took in his profile. His dark hair was cascading to the tip of his nose, partly covering his eyes. But after watching me staring at him, he pushed his hair to one side and straightened on his seat which revealed his hazel brown eyes. His mouth curved into a kind smile as he faced me.

"Now, don't just stare. Let's introduce each other, okay?" His voice was so naturally friendly that I felt frozen in my place.

"But before that, can you take a seat, young lady? I apologize for startling you." He said as he tapped his hand against his chest.

"Erm, I...okay." I said nervously and I flushed in embarrassment. At this moment, I wished Diana was with me so she could save me from the trouble of socializing.

He watched me take a seat and shot me a smile to calm my nervousness.

"So I heard you were the newly summoned Princess, or rather, a Key."

"I guess, yeah." I said with uncertainly.

"That was what those cloaked men said to me. But I think I must confirm it first from the King. Everything is confusing."

He watched me and nodded his head. "I see. I understand how confusing it was all to you. After all, it's all so sudden."

I sighed as I began to relax with him. His friendly demeanor made me feel comfortable. It was the same feeling I had when I first met Diana. His personality was easy to get along with.

"By the way, I'm Brio. And you are?" He asked as he held out his hand.

I smiled and took his hand. "Medley. Medley Donahue."

I noticed that he was wearing a sterling silver jade ring. I examined the jade stone and I realized it was real.

He flashed me a smile and I felt the warmth of his hand since I was holding it for quite longer while looking at his ring. I quickly let go of his hand and I could feel the blood going up to my face.

He chuckled and put his hands on the back of his head as he stared at the ceiling.

"So you already know now, of course, that I'm one of the Song."

I clenched my fists on my lap as I think of a thing to say. Something we could talk about. I didn't want to appear timid infront of a Song, just no way.

I inhaled as I took a courage of asking him what I was about to ask.

"So, what Song are you?"

He looked at me for a moment with a surprise look on his face, then his mouth curved upward.

"I'm the Second Song, the Joy Prince."

I smiled sheepishly at him and muttered, "I see."

Not hearing what I said, he asked, "I'm sorry?"

I shook my head smiled widely.

"Nothing. I just can't believe I'm having a small talk with a prince."

He seemed surprised and embarrassed at what I said that he scratched his head and blushed lightly as he laughed sheepishly.

It's actually true. I really couldn't believe I was having a conversation with a Song, a real conversation. And I was actually inside the Sky Castle right now.

And most especially, me being a Key? Where's the King right now, I so badly wanted to be cleared about everything that happened today.

Looking back on the previous day, the very first time I actually met a song was the Love Prince, the First Song. Since I was in the castle right now, would I be able to meet that blonde guy today?

I sighed in despair as I thought that being a summoned Key, I would be able to meet all the 11 Songs, especially the King.

I only saw the King once at some pictures illegally uploaded on the internet and I was wondering how he looked like in person.

Thinking about these leaders, their profile was always put on private that you could only know their faces if you see them in person.

Pictures or videos of them on internet were always being removed. That's how mysterious these people in Sky Castle were.

I once heard before that their privacy had something to do with their safety from outside Cradle.

And if I really become a Key to the Sky Castle, would I also have to change my lifestyle and follow the rules of Sky Castle as being a leader? Would I hide my existence and be banned from using social media?

Sighs, all about it was so unbelievable.

I was interrupted from my thoughts when Fredrik arrived, holding a tray.

His eyes widened when he saw Brio and did a slight bow.

"Lord Brio is also here."

Brio smiled widely at him and scratched his cheek. "Yeah. Can you bring me a tea also, Fredrik?"

The way Brio speak to him was so friendly, it was like he wasn't speaking to a butler but a friend.

Fredrik, the butler, put down the tray on the glass table in front of us. It's a black tea and a sliced of strawberry cake with a cherry on top.

I suddenly felt hungry as I saw the food but remained cool.

"My pleasure, Lord Brio." Fredrik bowed again and glanced at the couch across us where a sleeping guy was at.

"And Lord Jazz is still asleep, I see."

"Yeah, he was up reading here last night. So I guess he won't be waking up until evening comes." Brio said like it was already expected.

What the hell, evening? Just what time did that guy sleep that he wakes up that late?

"And please do tell Lord Jazz that one of the series he likes already published a new sequel." Fredrik said.

"Will do, Fred. Thanks."

The butler left to get a another tea and that left us alone again, and that sleeping guy also. What Song he might be?

I took a sip on my tea and sighed in pleasure. Damn, this tea was so good. I cut a small piece of cake and entered it in my mouth. It's really good.

I felt awkward with the silence that fell upon us so I tried again to come up with something. "So, what Song could that guy be?"

I asked, pointing at the sleeping guy.

Brio cocked an eyebrow then smirked.

"Sorry, but you have to know that from him."

"Oh, I see. I guess I should ask him once he's awake."

Fredrik arrived with Brio's tea and cake and Brio received them gladly.

"Thanks, Fredrik. Now all I have to do is accompany this young lady while she waits for the King's call."

I suddenly felt nervous when Brio reminded me that I would soon be speaking to the King himself. And I know after that, my life will change.
