Are you mad at me, Hyung?" Donghao questioned softly. Yoo Jonghyuk stared at him.
"No, I'm not." He replied simply.
"Then..." Donghao trailed off.
"But..." Yoo Jonghyuk interrupted. Donghao looked at him again. Yoo Jonghyuk licked his lips nervously.
"I still care about you a lot, Donghao." Yoo Jonghyuk explained slowly.
"Does that mean you don't want to talk?" Donghao asked.
"No, no, it means I want to talk to you," Yoo Jonghyuk assured quickly.
"You don't hate me?" Donghao asked softly.
"No."
"Then what happened to her?" Donghao asked.
"She killed herself."
The words hit Donghao like a punch to the gut. He gasped, and his jaw dropped open slightly.
"She.. she..?" He stuttered. He couldn't finish the sentence.
"She died." Yoo Jonghyuk nodded. Donghao clenched his fists tightly. His knuckles turned white and blood trickled down from his fingers. Yoo Jonghyuk noticed.
"Donghao, it's okay.Everything is going to be fine." Yoo Jonghyuk said calmly.
Donghao raised his gaze up to meet his brothers' eyes. They were filled with sympathy and concern. He sighed heavily, and let go of his pencil. He rubbed the side of his face gently and stared at the wall.
"We have to find Jaehwan." Yoo Jonghyuk declared. Donghao nodded and sighed again.
"I know. I'll help you." Donghao replied.
They spent another moment in silence before they decided to leave the room and go to search for Jaehwan. As they walked down the stairs towards the lobby, Yoo Jonghyuk glanced down at Donghao and saw that he wasn't looking at him, or anywhere really. He wasn't paying attention at all.
Chapter 14
~*~
They made their way downstairs together, silently. Neither of them saying anything to each other. They stepped into the lobby and walked toward the front door. A police officer was talking to an elderly couple. He looked over at them and nodded to them politely. Donghao and Yoo Jonghyuk exchanged glances. Then both of them went to stand in front of the officer.
"Can I help you?" He asked politely.
"Officer, do you have a moment? There are some people we want to ask you about." Yoo Jonghyuk replied politely. The police officer glanced between the two and then nodded to Yoo Jonghyuk.
"Of course. Come this way." He said.
Yoo Jonghyuk and Donghao followed the policeman to where there was a police car parked at the entrance. It was a plain police car, but it didn't look old. Yoo Jonghyuk wondered why someone would rent a police car for a family visit. He didn't understand how the police could afford such a thing. Maybe it was because they were rich, but he didn't think that was the case. They got into the car and waited for him to drive them to Jaehwan's place. They drove silently for a while until they arrived. Once the police car pulled up to a house, both of them hopped out. Yoo Jonghyuk opened the back door of the police car, and grabbed Donghao's bag which he always put there during breaks. He put it in the trunk and turned around to see Donghao standing next to him, looking out the window with a gloomy expression on his face. Yoo Jonghyuk sighed and approached Donghao, pulling his sleeve.
"Hey... Are you alright?" Yoo Jonghyuk asked quietly.Donghao smiled lightly but didn't answer. He looked down at Yoo Jonghyuk's hand on his arm and then at him.
"You're bleeding," he muttered suddenly.
He reached out and touched the wound. Yoo Jonghyuk felt slightly alarmed when Donghao's touch sent shivers down his spine. Donghao had never touched him before. Not even once. He had never seen him touch anyone before and he found himself extremely uncomfortable by the fact that Donghao was touching him now.
"It's nothing." Yoo Jonghyuk muttered as he shrugged Donghao's hand off his arm and held his wrist instead.
He looked at him, trying hard to ignore how close their faces were. Donghao looked at him strangely.
"It doesn't look nothing," Donghao muttered. Yoo Jonghyuk sighed again.
"Well, it will heal." He said.
"It looks like a knife wound." He continued, looking at the cut on his arm.
"Oh, shut up, Donghao." Yoo Jonghyuk snapped, pulling his arm away from Donghao sharply. Donghao recoiled as if he had been burned by the action. He looked at him and scowled angrily. You shut up!" He spat harshly.
Yoo Jonghyuk flinched and looked away. Donghao scowled and looked down. He shook his head and turned away from Yoo Jonghyuk, turning on his heel. He stormed across the pavement, and entered the house, slamming the door behind him. Yoo Jonghyuk stood there staring at the closed door, a few seconds passing before he turned and followed Donghao inside. He sighed and shut the door, and made his way further into the house, walking toward Donghao.
He stopped in front of the bathroom door, and knocked on it twice before entering. Donghao sat on the floor of the bathroom, leaning against the door. He had curled up into himself as far as possible, hugging his knees to his chest, his arms wrapping protectively around his legs.
Yoo Jonghyuk sighed sadly and took a seat in front of Donghao. He placed a comforting hand on Donghao's back, rubbing gently, trying to sooth him. He watched him for a little while, and sighed again.
"Donghao-ah..." He muttered quietly.
Donghao glanced up at him briefly, then lowered his gaze and rested his cheek on his knee. He hugged his knees tighter, squeezing them tightly. You shut up!" He spat harshly.
