I see you're curious...

How about we build up some intensity and check out what our favourite stalker is up to?
Earlier that evening...
At the Polard Mansion...
Matt paces his room trying to come up with a plan.
Eli's eyes on him weren't making his brain work any faster.
Their first drafts were due the very next morning.
Eli
How about we take a break?
Eli
Just take a walk or something?
Matt
You were right before...
Matt
We shouldn't have wasted so much time. We should have done this on Saturday.
Eli
Just breathe....and stop doing that.
Eli
Walking back and forth.
Eli
You're starting to make me nervous.
Matt sat down sighing deeply.
It was just a first draft...but if they chose the wrong topic....if they chose one they'd hate...their teacher would never let them undo it.
Sike
You're both being asked to come down.
Matt
Okay. We'll just be a minute.
Matt looked over to the doorway.
In his little world of rules he hadn't expected to be so clustered.
Matt
But why do I have this feeling like we're doomed...?
Matt
Something's up with them.
Eli simply ignored him, leaving the room.
As they were both seated by the table, Matt's parents walked in.
Matt
Something is definitely up.
At his brother's order, Matt stood.
He'd gotten used to everyone ordering him around that it was... normal.
So why did he suddenly feel like he should be fighting back?
Mr. Polard
Good evening, Matt...Spike...
Mr. Polard
Please be seated.
Holding his chair out for his wife, Mr Polard helped her settle in.
She sat with a mischievous glint in her eyes....a look that only lasted a split second...but Matt saw it.
Mrs. Polard
How are my young men?
Sike
But we should be asking of your wellbeing not you of ours.
Sike
It's the least we can do.
Sike
Ain't that right, Matt?
Matt looked over at his brother...when did Spike ever acknowledge him?
Mrs. Polard
Quite the gentlemen we raised, huh?
Barely choosing to respond to her younger son.
Mr. Polard
How are your assignments coming along, Matt?
Matt was becoming more and more uncomfortable.
Why were they so focused on him?
Dinner was usually just mobile meetings.
The most they'd do is tell them that nothing is free and that they had to work harder.
Or simply say..."eat up."
Matt
Better than manageable. All are done but one.
Mr. Polard
Almost exceptional....if you presented them all in good standards that is.
Matt knew that his parents' standards were too high for reality.
Sike
They should be well enough.
Sike
The board at work think that the school rates have been raised somewhat in the past year.
Sike
For him to still have the same grades would mean he's doing even better.
Mr. Polard
What does a business man have to do with school rates?
Sike
They've been taking in trainees...
average school kids who they know show potential and will soon graduate.
Sike
Snatching them up before they're all taken by everyone else.
It took him nearly a minutes to piece it all together.
Mr. Polard
Sounds like a good response.
Mrs. Polard
Let them know he's interested, will you?
Matt could hardly believe his ears.
He knew it would all come to this sooner or later.
But he thought he'd atleast be able to finish college first.
He even thought that since the eldest was so smart and successful that his parents would let him have some freedom when choosing his career.
Or even the option to follow in his father's brother's footsteps.
Mr. Polard
Now onto other matters.
Mrs. Polard
Oh, yes. Good news!
Mr. Polard
We found you a new body guard.
Couldn't they have waited until after dinner?
Until after they'd eaten at least?
His appetite was ...gone.
Matt
What's wrong with Eli?
Mr. Polard
We just considered that maybe it would be good to let you get some air now and then...away from your usual faces.
Mrs. Polard
He'll still be here if you want...
Mrs. Polard
Or we can replace him with...-
After eight months of complaining......nearly three years ago....and they had now agreed to give him space?
Matt
I don't want another guard.
It sure didn't sound optional to him.
Matt
Then, I'm keeping Eli.
Mr. Polard
Okay, so it's settled.
Mr. Polard
Since he also attends your school, he'll be there during the day but afterwards, Angus will relieve him.
Matt agreed to their proposal before they took it away altogether.
Mrs. Polard
I guess we're all going to have a great evening now, aren't we..?
Mr. Polard
Rightly so, my dear.
Without waiting for another order, Matt took up the fork in front of him, trying not to give them a reason to look his way again.
Their meal would pass in silence from there.
Sharing a glance at Eli, they both relayed the same message of reassurance to each other.
Or atleast that's what they thought.
Eli
Protecting you is my job. That comes first.
Matt
You're my best friend. I won't let them take you away from me so easily.
