Consequences...
Wilma
I can't believe my dad did that!
Wilma
Broke someone's car glass and blamed it on you.
Wilma
You wouldn't even be able to break it!
AJ
It's your dad after all.
AJ
What I still can't believe is that your brother is back!
Wilma
He hasn't given me any freedom since!
Laying back on the blanket, Wilma sighed.
Wilma
How did your parents take it?
AJ
Better than I expected....
AJ too, leaned back, letting herself lay back comfortably on the blanket....remembering how she was scolded for the incident that night three days ago.
A great start to the week.
Mum
AJ, darling... Walk with us to the living room.
AJ had kept her head down, knowing that this was the part where they'd drop the bomb on her.
After not yelling at the store's car park or in the car, she knew she owed it to them.
Nodding, she followed them to the living room.
Dad
There is no follow us. There is no more talking.
Mum
We said we'd talk about this...
Dad
You said that it also wasn't her.
Dad
She hasn't denied anything.
Dad
And if she did, she'd still be wrong.
Mum
What do you think we should do?
Mum
You seem to have this all under your control.
AJ had stood there watching her parents seated across from each other, exchanging words of disagreement.
She had turned red faced yet again. This time for causing her parents to argue over something that she felt like she had caused.
Her brother had showed up...without all of his friends for once.
He had shut the front door and joined them I the living room.
Having been too lost in her mind, feeling guilty, AJ had lost focus and missed the part where the argument had become a discussion.
She'd missed what they had agreed to.
Kol
What are you agreeing to?
AJ had almost hugged him.
She wouldn't dare open her mouth until she was sure she was in the clear.
Kol
Now I'm really confused.
Dad
If your sister has to go anywhere...
Dad
...and I mean anywhere...
Dad
...outside of the house...
Dad
..she is to have you with her.
Dad
Anywhere. Outside of this house. Besides school.
AJ was brought back to reality by Wilma sighing again.
Sighing and fanning off a bug.
Wilma
How did your brother take it?
Wilma
Kol seems to hate treating you like a kid.
Wilma
You said your parents are making him "babysit" you?
AJ
Yeah...something like that.
AJ
He did yell at me a lot.
AJ
And he made me sit through his friends and him playing video games and then a whole assignment!
AJ
Just so he'd take me to get a piece of cake!
Wilma
Sounds just like Kol!
They both laughed lightly though their situation was no where near normal.
Having both snuck out after everyone was asleep in their homes, they were now lying under the stars.
Just across the road from Wilma's house was a clump of trees then a dirt road.
Racing through the path they'd made years ago, they'd easily made their way there than placed their blanket down to have a night picnic.
Minus the few singing and biting mosquitoes...and the other little insects...it was really calming.
Wilma
You saw him after I did.
Wilma
It's like he's someone else entirely.
They both paused, letting their minds roam free. Thinking over everything.
Wilma
You had something to tell me earlier...
Shifting uncomfortably, AJ sat up.
AJ
Remember the kid from kindergarten...
AJ
..and primary school...
Wilma
or the one who left with his parents?
Wilma
...or the one who broke your brother's toys?
AJ
The one who broke my brother's toys is his best friend.
AJ
I can't even remember the one who left.
Wilma
So it's the creepy one..?
AJ paused trying to figure out the right phrasing.
She could feel the tension building as Wilma waited for it.
AJ
I think he's stalking me.
Wilma gasped. The sound seemed to describe exactly what AJ had been feeling.
Both girls looked over to see William.
Standing just informed of the trees, he was like a shadow, hiding.
They both got to their feet. Surprised and fearful...they stood, Wilma behind AJ, unsure of what to do.
Will
Why are both of you here at this hour?
They glanced at each other, mentally gulping.
William started walking towards them.
