Kio is still sitting alone when Draco approaches him in the lunch room.

Draco (ML)

Hey, my name is Draco. You are Kio right?

Kio (ML)

(*startled*) Huh? Oh yeah. That’s my name

Draco (ML)

Good 😊 is this seat taken?

Kio (ML)

Sorry, go ahead (*about to get up and leave*)

Draco (ML)

Wait, where are you going?

Kio (ML)

Somewhere else so you can sit here

Draco (ML)

Oh, but I wanted to sit with you

Kio (ML)

(*pushes up glasses*) You want to sit with me? Why?

Draco (ML)

Well you looked kind of lonely here so I wanted to talk to you

Kio (ML)

Ah…well that’s not necessary

Draco (ML)

But I want to stay. Why don’t you tell me a bit about yourself?

Kio (ML)

I’m fine. Really (*gets up and leaves*)

Draco (ML)

(*stunned*) No way. Did he just ignore me? This has never happened to me before. Getting someone’s attention has always been easy for me. So why is he being different?

Draco walks back to the table that Levi and Mia are sitting at

Mia

Gesh that was so quick! Guess you got his phone number already huh? Are you guys going to go on a date or something?

Draco (ML)

No. Umm…actually…

Levi

HAHA, no way! Did he reject you?

Draco (ML)

Well not exactly. He kind of just…ignored me

Mia and Levi look at one another before bursting out in laughter simultaneously

Mia

HAHAHAHAHHA

Levi

HAHAHAHAHAH

Draco (ML)

(*annoyed, eyes flash red*) Enough already!

Levi

(*out of breath*) sorry. It’s just that no one has ever rejected you before. I’m so surprised

Mia

Yeah, I wonder what went wrong

Draco (ML)

I don’t know. I just introduced myself and asked if I could sit with him. He offered me the whole table but when I told him that I actually wanted to talk to him he just got up and left

Levi

Hmm, well looks like Kio may be a bit of a challenge for you

Draco (ML)

It doesn’t matter. I’m still going through with this bet

Mia

You guys are so competitive for no reason

Draco (ML)

I don’t care. I love proving people wrong so that’s what I will do

Levi

Alright, then I guess the bet is still on

Draco does his best to get Kio’s attention in the hall way. Whenever he sees him he waved to say hi but Kio never responds. Three days pass before Draco is actually able to talk to Kio one on one

-In the lunchroom-

Draco (ML)

Why are you sitting alone again?

Kio (ML)

(*looks up from book*) Huh?

Draco (ML)

(*sits down in front of Kio*) I said why are you by yourself? I know you are a freshman but school started 3 days ago. You should have a few friends by now

Kio (ML)

I don’t need friends (*starts reading again*)

Draco (ML)

(💭Gesh, he’s so hard to talk to! He barely responds. Maybe I should tease him a bit)

Kio still has his nose in his book when Draco quickly snatched it out of his hand

Kio (ML)

(*looks up with wide eyes*)

Draco (ML)

(*flips through the pages*) Is this what has you so distracted? What are you reading anyways

Kio (ML)

(*tear falls*) umm sorry…I (*quickly grabs book bag and runs away*)

Draco (ML)

(*stunned, holding book in his hand*) 💭What the hell was that all about? I can’t believe he just got up and left again. He even forgot his book! But why did he seem so freaked out? He even teared up a bit

Draco remains frustrated for the rest of the day as he thinks about everything that happened in the lunch room. He keeps Kio’s book in his locker with the intentions of giving it back to him the next day. But Kio never shows up in the lunch room again

-Friday during lunch-

Mia

Draco, why are you sitting here? Shouldn’t you be trying to win over Kio

Levi

Ha, maybe it isn’t going so well

Draco (ML)

(*rubs forehead*) No, it isn’t actually. I’m not sure what to do. The last time I tried talking to him I teased him a bit. He teared up and ran away

Mia

Aww, that poor kid. He must be scared of you!

Draco (ML)

But why? I’ve never done anything to him

Levi

Maybe you should try a different approach. Dont talk to him the next time you see him. Just sit beside him

Mia

Yeah! Sit in silence and maybe he will get used to you

Draco (ML)

(*thinking*) Hmm, maybe that could work. But I have no idea where he is! I see him pass by in the hallways sometimes but I have no idea where he goes during lunch

Levi

You said he was reading something last time, right

Draco (ML)

Yeah, it was a book about art

Mia

Then maybe he spends his time in the library now! You should probably check there

Draco (ML)

Ah, good idea! (*about to get up and leave*)

Levi

Where are you going?! Lunch is almost over you know. Just go tomorrow

Draco (ML)

Oh, good point. I guess I will just wait until Monday
