Chapter 5 - The Emperor
Derek Smith
Sir. I've brought our new accountant to her station.
Walking into the CEO's office at the highest room in the building, Derek watched the back of a chair until it turned around, revealing "The Tyrant Emperor Of The Business World".
Liam Castella
What about this morning's meeting?
Derek Smith
It has been delayed due to the terrible traffic incident across town.
Liam Castella
Inefficient. Cancel it and reschedule for tomorrow. And this time, anyone who is late won't have their seat at the table.
His sharp gaze almost sliced through Derek's head but he remained calm and composed. After all, he knew that the President wouldn't harm anyone directly.
Making their life a living hell? He'd do it in a heartbeat.
Having inherited the company when he was 16, he immediately made it one of the top cooperations in the east and expanded over multiple countries in the space of a year.
Efficient, hard-working and scary.
Fear, after all, has proven to be the best motivator.
And fear is what he instills into people.
The murderous yet decisive drive to succeed paired with the terrifying pressure he gives out during meetings makes him the perfect tyrant CEO.
Liam Castella
I've finished reviewing the four present contracts. Send these three to be signed and have this one rewritten completely.
Derek Smith
May I ask what I must say was unsatisfactory?
Liam Castella
There was a spelling mistake on page three.
Liam Castella
I want it redone.
Derek Smith
Yes, Sir. Apologies. I'll ensure that it is done to our company standards the next time.
Bowing, Derek took his leave but not before Liam stopped him.
Liam Castella
What is my father doing here this morning?
Derek Smith
Pardon me, Sir?
Turning around, feeling a little pressurised, Derek faced his Boss with a little fear preserving his body.
Liam Castella
Do you believe me to be blind, Mr Smith?
Derek Smith
No, not at all Sir.
Derek Smith
You are capable with your vision as well as your management skills.
Liam Castella
Then I'll ask again.
Liam Castella
Why is my Father in the company this morning.
Derek Smith
*thinking* I could lie and say that he has an impromptu meeting but he has already memorised his schedule.
Derek Smith
He must be here to see someone.
Liam Castella
Take me to him.
Liam Castella
I want to see what is so important for him to disrupt my day with.
Meanwhile, in my office, I was looking through ledgers and monthly receipts that were given out to the different departments.
Grace Rivers
That's too much, and that's too little. Signs of bias perhaps?
Grace Rivers
The amount is substantial, not just a calculation error.
A knock on the door snapped me out of my working zone, my eyes finding a handsome man in his fifties, still dressing like he was in his thirties.
Ron Castella
Hello, Miss Rivers.
Grace Rivers
Can I help you? Sorry, I just started today so I'm not familiar with everything yet. If you could give me an hour, I'm sure that I'll be able to help you then.
Ron Castella
Oh, I'm not an employee. Well, not anymore.
Ron Castella
I was just wondering if you wanted a chat.
Grace Rivers
Of course, but please excuse me if I'm being rude, working at the same time.
Grace Rivers
This is my first day on the job, so I have to familiarise myself with everything as soon as possible.
Ron Castella
That's the right mindset to have.
