“Just for today ...” Rachel said.
As days and weeks pass, she wears a mask that won’t allow others to see further.
While that mask helps her feel safe, the silence of her room end up attacking
her.
I did nothing to protect them. I was so scared that ... my body just froze. Even
when I saw my father's gaze, not even at that moment did I run to protect him.
She got on her knees, looking at the ceiling as if it were the sky. “God, if you really
exist, why did you let all this happen?” Smiling, she burst out laughing,
“Dammit, what am I doing?” lowering her head “Have I fallen so low that I can't
even take responsibility?” She clenched her fists until her fingernails marked
the palms of her hands.
The bitterness of the night and its silent environment was probably what caused her
to keep hurting herself, trapping her in the past.
Please breathe father, father! Father!!! Don’t leave Me. Hugging him. Mother,
please call the doctor, it looks like dad isn’t in good condition. Touching
his cold body, what's happening, why is
nobody coming ...
Coming back to her senses the only thing she sees is her empty room. “I miss
everybody, if only I could go back in time, so I could say one more time how
much I love every single one of you.”
As she got on the bed “I don't know if someone can hear me. I don't know if life
goes on even after death.” Sighing “I always thought that the love I received
was the best thing in my life; I’m sorry to say that although it was the most
beautiful thing at the time, now is the same thing that hurts me the most. ”
Hugging her legs “In the end I can't find any other words to say thank you,
thank you for loving me so much.”
In the morning, the sun's rays forced the night to take away the bitterness with
her.
The maid started to help Rachel dress. “I have told you that you guys don't need to
bother with this, I can do it myself.” Smiling.
“This isn’t a bother, we were specially chosen to serve Your Highness. This is an
honor that many of us dream and only a few can achieve. ” Lucy says while
adjusting the dress.
“I don’t want to impose myself on what you think, even though serving someone is
an honest and hard-earned job you should look for what really makes you happy.”
Sighing “This is fine for a while but in the long run you also need to achieve
your own goals.”
“My lady, I don’t mean to be rude, but we were grown to be this. We aren’t allowed
to think about our goals, the only thing that can cause us to leave is
marriage. ” Silvia said.
Raising an eyebrow Rachel notices what is happening. “But I imagine you do have your
own dreams, am I wrong?”
“Mm, if I can be honest with my Lady, when I was little I always wanted to become a
famous painter one day. ” While looking for Rachel's hair accessories.
“Well, I've never thought of another job, but there's something I've always wanted to
do,” Silvia says.
Lucy immediately turns her head “I can't miss this, you
never talk about yourself.” Silvia's face turns red, but she takes courage
pressing her hands together. “It's not that big of a deal, I just ... Mm ... I
just want to, one day go out and see the world beyond this kingdom.”
Rachel sees her in amazement. “ You have never gone out?”
“No” Silvia answers.
Rachel felt silent for a moment. Silvia worried... “But, don't worry Your Majesty
although dreaming is nice, it is better not to do it because the higher one
dreams the more painful the fall of reality will be. It no longer affects me to
think about whether I go out or not. Furthermore, there are many kind people in
the palace. ”
Leaving the brooches, Lucy takes Silvia's hand. “I don't believe that, because even if
I couldn't be a famous painter I would always paint and dream. It hurts me to
think that someone can stop dreaming because dreams give us hope and without
dreams, what is the point on keep living? ” Rachel's eyes widened for a second,
and then she smiled “Both of you are unique, I understand and respect your
reasoning.”
Hugging Them “I can understand since I did it too. Would you girls like to hear a
story? ”
“Of course.” Both of them said in harmony.
Taking a seat Rachel looks out the window. “Where I come from, there is no magic, but
there are Kings and princesses.”
A kingdom without magic? Lucy asks.
“Amazing to hear, isn't it? Well, returning to the story as you know the status of someone
from the royalty, needs to remain stable and with a good reputation. In my
kingdom, I used to also have someone that made my hair and chose my clothes to
maintain that reputation. ” The maids listen in amazement. “Everyone knows what
a princess needs to do except her. In that aspect I think that no women is
different am I right?”
“Your Majesty ...” Silvia said.
Rachel only smiles “Before any of you say anything please wait. I am not telling this
story to be the victim. I had the option to stand up for myself, but I
didn't. I had the option to run but I didn't want to. To be honest I really
don't know when it happened. I always wanted to be the perfect daughter to my
parents. I played a game trying to be someone I was not. Soon enough I lost my
sense of what was real and what was a lie. Then, when I wanted to go back I
only found the confusion of becoming a stranger in my own body. ”
Rachel's eyes left far away from the room leaving the maids alone. “The books became my
refuge since they gave me the emotion that I couldn’t feel for myself. In the
books, I could imagine that I also accompanied all those people to their
adventures. ”
Coming to her senses, she turns to look at the maids. “Today I regret not the things I
did, but what I didn't do. I never fought for what I wanted. I played and lost the
most valuable thing I had. Now I know you have the right to dream just like any
other person would, and that there is no worse defeat than when you give up
before you even try. ”
“Your Majesty,” Lucy says while words are missing.
“Everything sounds very beautiful Your Majesty, but we already signed a contract.” Affirms
Silvia.
“What kind of contract?” Raquel asks.
Lucy interrupts “One that says that once we signed we have to serve my lady for life
even if it were to cost of our own life. “
“Then I don't see any problem,” Rachel affirms. Silvia bows her head “Excuse my
ignorance your Majesty, but I don't quite understand.” Rachel puts a hand on
her shoulder “It's not that difficult, just leave it in my hands.”
Taking Rachel’s hand Lucy kneels “Thank you, Your Majesty. I promise that your servant
will always follow you.” Silvia joins “that's right we'll always follow my
lady.” Lifting them up “stand up don't do this, please.”
Rachel looked at the Clock ... “I wouldn't want to interrupt but I think it's getting
a little late.”
Lucy, hurried back to find a hairpin. “Yes, don't worry, My Lady you will look
beautiful.” Smiling Rachel sits down to have her hair done.
“My lady, what accessory would you like the most? The one with diamonds or pearls?”
Lucy asks.
“I think this time I will let you choose.” She answers.
“Wow, it's the first time I choose. Mm, let me see, I think the pearl would look very
elegant.”
Silvia snatches the hairpin. “No, the one with diamonds would look better.”
Lucy defeated. “Okay. It still looks pretty.”
Silvia opens the door. “Your Majesty, everything is ready for us to take you to
breakfast.”
Taking a deep breath “Very well.” Rachel smiles.
