Race1: The Brands Hatch

 The First Race of the 2015 Ginetta Junior Championship. The Brands Hatch is all set to open the season opener. Patrik Matthiesen took the first Pole of the championship in round 1 and he locks up the front row with Stuart Middleton.

 All the drivers are on their way to the

starting grid. We have 18 laps to go and this a formation lap

 Lap1: it’s lights out and away we go for the first time in 2015. Stuart Middleton didn’t have a great start and he lost some places. He’s currently P5. Frankie Bird had a really good start he start in P8 and he gained 8 places up into P2. Billy Monger who started the race at P18 after a bad qualifying session now has gained 9 places and he’s in P9 at turn 7 and he lost 3 places at turn 8 he was left behind Matt Chapman William Tregurtha makes a move on Billy Monger but fails to overtake him at turn 15 Billy strikes back at Matt Chapman and Chapman couldn’t defend his place. At the end of lap 1 Patrik Matthiesen leads the race from Senna proctor P2, Stuart Middleton in P3, Sophia Florsch in P4, Jonathan Hadfield in P5, William Stacey in P6, Lewis Brown in P7, Dan Zelos in P8, Jamie Caroline in P9 Dave Wooder in P10, Geri Nicosia in P11 and we can see Frankie Bird coming out from turn 18, and Billy Monger is coming out of turn 17 and he’s right behind Frankie Bird. We might see an intense battle between them.

Lap2:  Oh dear, Frankie Bird locks up near turn and Billy covers the gap and he’s right behind him and they are battling the hell out of that car. They are going wheel to wheel and did they touch, oh!! How on earth did they didn’t manage to touch each other. Here we are at turn 4 Billy has the outside line and Frankie Defends well and the gap between Frankie and Billy is decreased to 0.225 seconds as they go out of turn 5. They are going wheel to wheel again in turn 6 and at Questa time Billy pushes Frankie on to the grass and but Frankie Bird is still ahead of Billy. Frankie Bird is slowing down and now Billy can easily overtake him. Frankie is heading into the pits. Frankie has retired the car due to an engine issue and he will not be a part of this race.

Lap3: Billy is now behind Geri Nicosia and he must be trying to overtake her. And he’s successful full in doing so now he’s in P11 and Dave Wooder he’s giving up on his place to Billy Monger at turn 16. Billy gained 2 places in this lap and now he is in P10.

Lap4: The battle for P9 is between Billy Monger and Jamie Caroline. Jamie Caroline is doing everything to keep Billy behind him and he’s defending as hell and Billy has gone for it he had the inside line at turn 15 and overtakes him and Jamie Caroline had nowhere to go. Jamie Caroline is coming back at Billy Monger in turn 17 and regained his position and what a way to finish the lap.

Lap5: Oh poor Jamie, Billy was pushing on him like hell and poor Jamie had to hit the apex late and Billy overtakes him at turn 9 of the first sector and gets purple at the first sector. He pushes hard and gets purple in the second sector and the Billy was 1.23 seconds ahead of Jamie by the end of the third sector and gets a purple in the third sector and he sets the fastest lap of the race.

Lap6: The gap between Dan Zelos and Billy Monger is 0.03 seconds. Billy takes the outside line in turn 2 and successful overtake Dan Zelos with an easy move. Dan ends up hitting the barriers. Dan has yellow flagged the whole lap and the gap between Billy and Lewis Brown has decreased. The safety car is going into pits and we are racing again here in Brands Hatch.

Lap7: Billy Monger is covering a lot of ground in the corners and decreasing the gap between him and Dan. We come into turn 6 and Billy is having the outside line and Dan has the inside line let’s see who comes out on top. What a move from Billy didn’t expect this from him he has the outside line but still, he managed to overtake him. Wow!! He’s so quick at corners and he’s just 4 seconds behind Lewis Brown. Sets a new lap record. He’s just brilliant.

Lap8: Billy has covered a lot of ground with his war pace and at the end of turn 4 he’s right behind him, can he overtake him or will Lewis hold on to his position? Let’s wait. Billy is having the inside lane at the end of turn 6 and overtakes him but Lewis comes back at him and regains his lost position.  While we go into the turn 10 Billy now has a clear cut chance to overtake Lewis again but Lewis comes on top and leaves his own mark. Billy isn’t ready to give up. He’s going wheel to wheel and they touch. In turn 16, Billy overtakes him in an unsupportive way and realises his mistake at turn 17 and lets him go past.

Lap9: Billy now has the inside line at turn3, but Lewis is still on top. Billy is racing against Lewis Hamilton not against Lewis Brown and he has to make a bold move to beat his defence and Lewis is having an answer for all his attempts.  Turn 16, Billy had to go on grass this time to go past and it was a brilliant move from Billy to go past him and now Billy moves into P7.

Lap10: William Stacey is just 3 seconds ahead of Billy Monger, Billy who started the race in P18 is now in P7 he gained 11 places in just 10 laps and he the bravest driver I have seen so far in my entire career and his move on Lewis was the best one I have seen so far. He’s just 0.129 seconds behind William Stacey at the end of lap 10.

Lap11: Billy tries to squeeze past him at turn 3 but fails to go past him and he also losses a lot of ground. Billy makes a move on him but fails to overtake him at turn 10 and William holds him well and sets the fastest lap of the race and Billy was just some 0. Seconds away from him

Lap12: Billy made a dummy move on William at turn 7 and he had to cut the grass a bit to overtake him and he has finally defeated him but William is still trying to regain his lost position. Billy set a new lap record and William also replied to him with a new lap record and gave an indication that he’s going to regain his place in the next few laps.

 Lap13: Jonathan Hadfield had no answer for Billy Monger’s raw pace and lost his place to Billy. Billy has made his way into the Top 5. If he’s too good he might even end up winning the race for JHR developments along with his teammate Senna Proctor who’s running at P2 currently.

Lap14: There is that signature move from Billy to go past the German driver Sophia Florsch. He went into turn 3 of lap 14 by making a bold move by hitting the apex late and the touch but there is no damage done to their cars and Billy is ahead of her. Turn 17, Billy gets ahead of her and moves into P4. And still, Florsch is trying to take her place back. The last 4 laps to go in the race and the standings are Patrik Matthiesen in P1, Stuart Middleton in P2, Senna Proctor in P3, Billy Monger inP4 and Sophia Florsch in P5.

Lap15: Alex Day and Ben Green had a minor collision and brought the yellow flag and the safety car has come out. And Alex and Ben are still racing. As we head in to turn 5, there is not much to say about the gaps between the drivers and Florsch is still trying to overtake Billy, and regain her lost position. Turn 15, the track is clear and now we can see the safety car going into the pits. We have the green light and we are racing again her in Brands Hatch.

Lap16: Billy is right behind Senna Proctor and he’s already into the business Billy takes the outside line but Senna is still ahead of Billy. For a minute I thought Billy got his job done and moved in P3 but Senna defended well and regained his place back. Turn8, Billy now has the inside line and Billy gets it done in his own style. What a late and super, move from Billy Rob Monger. Billy started the race in P18 and now he is in P3 and might even finish on the podium today here in Brands Hatch.

Lap17: Senna is fighting hard to regain his position but Billy is defending well to keep him behind we move in turn6, Billy is now Behind Stuart Middleton and Billy is just 0.25 seconds away from Stuart and Senna is Right behind Billy and he’s Just 0.1 second away. But here come Billy Monger who’s alongside Stuart Middleton and going wheel to wheel in turn8, Billy Monger is alongside and ahead of Stuart Middleton and even Senna Proctor overtook Stuart Middleton at turn10, Stuart Middleton lost 2 places in just a single lap. Turn17 he gets the inside line of Patrick Matthiesen and overtakes him with ease and moves to P1.

Lap18: on Lap17 William Stacey sets the fastest lap of the race. We are on board with Billy Monger, just look at the way he’s driving with a lot of confidence and he’s just unstoppable. He’s at the last corner now, Billy Monger sees the chequered flag for the first time in 2015 his first win here in Brands Hatch and his first win for JHR Developments. Billy Monger wins the Brands Hatch Grand Prix. What a recovery from this man P18 to P1. Wow!! A great drive from a great man.  Let’s listen to his radio now.
