Raine
Chief, "Ooi Rin, wait up!" Soaked to the bone from heavy rain season stood the inspector of the force. Gritting his teeth he looked around the desolate back streets looking for any sign of his subordinate. It was always the same in this business, you took your eyes off your partners for three seconds and they were gone.
Chief, "Dammit, where the hell are you?" Steady steps led him deeper into the alley, droplets tapped on the shop shutters ahead. It's eerie tapping sound making his heart thud more and more each second. Annoyance had faded and at this point, he was concerned. A tincan rolled from behind him startling his gun from his holster, Slightly anxious he peaked around the alley corner to see a shadow in the distance.
Chief, "Rin! This isn't hide and seek get your *** back here." Settled he waited impatiently for him to answer however there was nothing. Getting more frustrated by the second he began walking towards him, it was definitely Rin his sword shining in the moonlight on his back. That signature dark blue wavy hair. Darkness crept in as he walked towards Rin until his feet splashed in a puddle onto his new shoes.
Chief, "Sht not another...eh?..." His heart stopped seeing this wasn't rained water...but thick blood. In-fact both of them were surrounded by it. Terrified he looked at Rin's face, it was filled with nothing. No anger, no pain not even a tear. A pile of corpses lay at his feet, Bodies mostly of women.*
Chief, "I'll call it in." Sick to his stomach he beeped through his radio for back-up as well as clean-up, this would be an unpleasant job yet again. Rin couldn't stop staring at his feet as the rain diluted its red color, why had he failed again...
Day in day out he patrolled these streets, hunting to the best of his ability. It was never enough, sly fellows would slip through his fingers leading to scenes like this. They were animals, living off the rush of ecstasy. This city had gone so far under the soil after the true-bloods were killed. During the day people could walk safely, talk loudly, walk quickly. But at night...you couldn't cough without being killed.
Chief, "We'll catch them eventually, keep your head up." Rin clicked his tongue pushing away his hand trying to comfort him. Eventually was too long, they could have killed hundreds by then. If he couldn't stop them no-one could...
After being told to go home and get some rest he dragged his feet along the pavement the street lights flickering above him, he lit up a cigarette and puffed the grey smoke into the cold air watching it disappear. Humans and vampires used to live together peacefully when the pure-bloods were in power, they had their own eradication team to deal with rogues who took human life outside of the guidelines proposed by the queen Nirvana. He remembered watching her in interviews, she always seemed so elegant and kind most of the time people forgot she was a vampire. All she wanted was the best for both races, not once did she favor her own. If only she was still here now maybe they could stand a chance...
Rin was always a loner, it was the way he chose to be. This world was cruel and messy, time for relationships and bonds were slim so he didn't partake. It had been a year since joining the force of human protection, used solely for hunting vampires and protecting the innocent. Maybe he did it for the morality of it all or perhaps for his own self-satisfaction, he didn't really know anymore. Living in a one-person apartment on the outskirts of the city gave him that isolation. It was cold to be alone but colder to be left alone. As usual, he bought lunch from the convenience store and began walking home. Maybe I should eat something a bit healthier he thought, processed food can't be good for your body. Then again what can you do with little money I should be happy I can eat at all.
Rin's health shouldn't be a worry at all. Standing at 6"1 with a lean muscular build, he towered over others. His sharp collar bones, high cheekbones, dazzling green eyes, and blue moonlight hair. Women called him the man no girl could have, his looks were stunning yet his attitude, cold. It was a shame really.
Carelessly munching on his sandwich he came to his apartment complex, yet another unuseful duty. Sighing to himself accepting his feelings a loud crash attracted his attention. A fight? It sounded like a tussle over the street in the back-alley. Conflicted if he should get involved he clenched his fists and looked around, there was no-one else here because it was so late.
Rin, "Tch, what a pain." Leaving his bag on the step he waltzed over to the alley.
"There's no point in fighting cutie you don't stand a chance." Huh? It sounded different than before. Had they noticed him?
"Get off me you asshole!" Rin flinched, that was a girl's voice. Looks like this wasn't a fight after all. It wasn't just that she also sounded young. Deciding on his actions he began storming down the alley turning the corner. It was a dead-end, two guys stood against the fence while another had her pinned to the floor.
Rin, "Oi what are you doing?" They flipped around. Immediately those hostile eyes made Rin's fingers twitch for his sword, they were criminals alright but attacking someone in these parts, they must be insane.
"Playing cards, what does it look like kid? Just walk away." A tiny chuckle escaped Rin's lips, as if he could do such a thing.
