Nothing To Offer

"I - I have nothing... to offer..." Catherine replied to the pixie, her head hanging low. What could she give this magical creature, she wasn't a rich girl to begin with and everything she had was left behind, in the coach.

Oh God, the coach.

Catherine felt nauseated, whether it was the thirst, hunger or the mere fact that everything that had happened changed her life or a mix of it all that made her feel this way was something she did not know.

Catherine was in deep thought, she knew she had nothing to give in exchange, and the thought of being abandoned scared her enough to start feeling a lump in her throat, she knew that she would breakdown if she was abandoned.

"Well, well, since you don't have anything to offer, why don't you offer yourself?" Said the pixie.

Catherine's eyes widened, "What? does that mean?" Do pixies eat people? Can they make people their slaves? and Catherine really caught in another life or death situation again so soon?

Catherine couldn't believe her ears. What had she done to deserve all this? She was never bad to anyone, never!

"I - mean you can help me and I can help you, let's be friends, you know." That was close, so close, the little trickster had almost fallen prey to her own cleverness. But if the pixie were to succeed and successfully trick this human creature, she could ensure her freedom.

It shouldn't be too bad, this human creature survived an Abjen, if she really is as strong as she claims to be, she could handle this as well. Thought the little minx.

Catherine was desperate, and under less unfortunate circumstances she would have trodden very carefully but that wasn't an option now.

"What is it, I will do anything, as long as it doesn't end with me losing my life." Catherine was desperate, not stupid.

"Fair enough" the pixie replied with a smile that would be recognisable as a smirk if Catherine was actually paying attention.

"You can stay with me, I'll give you three meals and a bed, and in return, you will do all my house chores, and work for me, that good?" The Pixie asked Catherine.

That was quite simple, thought Catherine. Catherine was actually quite relieved, the way the Pixie mentioned at the start it sounded way more serious. Catherine thought that after a few days she could try going back home, but for now, she needed food and water.

"Yes, that's good." Catherine smiled weakly.

The next thing Catherine knew was that the pixie touched her hand and they vanished, only to appear in front of a small cottage.

"What was that?" Asked Catherine.

"Oh, us pixies can teleport. Saves time." Replied the pixie.

"Now, this is my house. It is quite magical, It originally belonged to a witch that lost it in a bet with me after I tricked her, the best thing is, it cleans itsel—" The pixie stopped speaking. Horrified that she would have spilt the secret.

After all, the human creature would doubt her if she knew about this. The pixie was irritated, to was a second "too close", today.

Damn that man and that curse. The pixie wouldn't have to go through so much trouble if only, this curse was not on her kind. If only. But she was going to set things straight now, with Catherine at her side, it was all finally going to fall into place.

"What is it, what is the best thing?" asked Catherine, disturbing the Pixies'  thoughts.

"Me! I'm the best thing that happened to this house! Speaking of which, my name is Janna." The pixie exclaimed.

Catherine let out a chuckle, this pixie sure was full of herself. "I'm Catherine." replied Catherine.
