A step ahead

Nick's POV

I have been using my phone for the past 30 minutes. She is in the washroom. I can't concentrate on what I'm doing. She looked really stunning in real then in the photo which my sister Eva shared.

She walked out wiping her black silky hair which was till her waist.

"The hair dryer is on the vanity table over there.", I pointed towards the closet door seeing her struggling to wipe her hair.

I took a peek at her once in a while, while she was drying her hair. I started scanning my phone again while she walked out of the closet.

She walked towards me and sat in the couch beside me. I looked at her and there was an awkward silence lingering around us.

Well let me break this awkwardness.

"You can sleep in the bed and I will sleep in the couch.",I said with a smile. I can sense the uncomfortableness around us. 'We are totally strangers so this is the right decision good for you Nick', my inner self winks at me.

"No. You can sleep in the bed.", I looked at her in astonishment.

"I-I mean, couch is so small for you to fit. We can sleep in the bed together.", she said seeing my astonishing gaze.

"Are you sure?",I asked.

"Mm. It doesn't matter, anyway you are my husband." the word husband sent butterflies in my stomach. I mentally face palmed myself for being so sensitive for this familiar word which was strange for me.

"Which side of the bed, do you prefer?", I asked her and she replied me,"Oh, let me take the left. Are you OK, with it?"

"Yes. I was scared that you will choose right, as it was my usual position, but you chose left. It was an relief for me.",I spoke everything in my mind. I think this is the largest sentence I spoke with her for the first time.

We lay on our sides of the bed and covered ourselves with quilt. It was the first time sharing my bed with someone. It was really a new experience for me. Even I didn't let my friends to share the bed with me.

My thoughts were interrupted with the one for my side kept tossing and turning around for more than five minutes.

I held her hand and spoke,"Are you not comfortable, in sharing the bed with me?"

"It's not that. This place is new to me and I always sleep hugging my teddy bear back in my house. So that's the reason, I couldn't fall asleep.",she said.

"Well, then let me accompany you, till you feel sleepy. Alright with that.",I asked her so that it can sooth her nervous heart.

"Fine. Then let's know more about each other.", she said with an excitement and sat on the bed crossing both of her legs.
