CHAPTER 4

Bryan and Sylvia have agreed to meet tonight. It was a Wednesday night. But before tonight Bryan had to go to the office and do his crappy job. Now he has to do it diligently to make up for the time he neglected it.

"Bryan, I need to speak to you now," said Mr. Aiden the HR manager.

Bryan sighed and braced himself for some berating from the HR manager. But surprisingly he was led to Jem's office. Jem was sitting on his desk while Mr. Aiden took his place standing beside him and Bryan sat on the single chair in front of the desk like a naughty child.

"I'm going to let you confess what you did now. I'm not gonna point a finger but I know what you did. I'm gonna let you tell me what you did and why you did it and you can keep your job. If not, you'll be speaking to a police officer," said Jem calmly.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Bryan was even more defiant.

"You took my phone yesterday. Why? Did you sell it for drugs?"

"I don't know what you're talking about,"

Jem slammed the table with anger.

"Give me back my phone! I saw you took my phone! Are you stupid thinking that I don't have security camera in this office?" Jem pointed to the little camera that he had installed in the desk lamp and book cases in his office.

Bryan felt his throat dried out, his heart beat fast. He was a little bit afraid now but really not for himself but for Sylvia if Jem found out he did all that for that woman.

"I didn't take you phone," Bryan said nonchalantly to masked his shaking voice.

"That's it! Call the police,"

The police came comically fast. Bryan wondered whether they were around the neighborhood at the time. It was humiliating for him to be carried out of the office in a handcuffs.

Since it was Bryan's first offence and it wasn't that big of a deal anyway. Phone teft? The judge almost died with laughter looking at Bryan. The judge set a reasonable amount of bail for Bryan but even then Bryan wouldn't have that much money to pay for it. He called Sylvia that screamed bloody murder when she heard that Bryan was in jail and needed bail.

Despite all the turmoil in the morning, Bryan and Sylvia ended up being together as planned that Wednesday evening. In their usual hotel room, Bryan cupped Sylvia's face and kissed it softly. Sylvia is his, he thought and he promised himself that he'll protect her from this day on.

"Look what I got you," said Bryan after the criminally insane sex they were having. He put on his pants and went to his bag and pulled out Jem's phone and pages after pages of elicit photos.

"Bryan! What is this? What did you do?" exclaimed Sylvia when she got to see the pictures both on the phone and on the print.

"Now you can divorce Jem and be with me," Bryan held Sylvia from the back.

"Be with you?" Sylvia was more surprised of Bryan's claim that she'll be with him rather than all those nude pictures combined. "What do you mean? Like romantically?"

"Yes. Sylvia, I think I'm in love with you,"

"No, Bryan! Don't you dare say that!"

"Why?"

"Because I don't want you to. I don't even want to be your rebound. I just want to **** you and that's all there is to it. Why do you think I'm having this affair with you in the first place?"

"You see me only as this giant walking ****?"

"Yes," Sylvia packed up her things in a hurry. "I think this is where I draw the line. This affair will have to end eventually, maybe this is the time. Thank you, Bryan for everything that you did,"

Sylvia cleared the table and put everything in her pursed and left Bryan, *****, alone and humiliated. She also took the photos of Jem that Bryan sacrificed everything to get.

The world seemed to have stopped moving for Bryan. His mind was blank like someone had turned off the lamps on his senses. Twice heart break, twice being left alone. He thought maybe he was unlovable. He was so damaged and meaningless that nobody could stick around long enough to love him. He had offered his heart to 2 women and both of them had took it, smashed it and threw it in garbage.

Was this reason enough for Bryan to give up?
