Caught On Cam

Blake sat down with his mouth wide open.and a perplex expression. Something similar to a muppet with a wide mouth that won’t close. Char waves his hand around Blake, but there was no reaction. He even clapped in front of his eyes to make him blink, but there was nothing. Serah comes along and sees Char acting weird in front of Blake.

“Is there something interesting going on here?” Serah asked as she walked up behind Char.

Char places his hand on his hip and shrugs, “Not sure. I haven’t seen this expression on Blake for awhile now.”

Serah looks at Blake, “When does he usually have this reaction?”

“When something bizarre happens to him,” Char answered.

“...Maya?”

“Maybe?”

Blake’s eyes finally blink when he hears Maya’s name. He jumps up from his chair causing Serah and Char to jump. Blake shivers himself to snap awake and looks at Serah. She looks back at him, “Yes?”

He looked like he was going to say something to her, but held it back. Blake marches over to the break room and makes himself some coffee. Char and Serah look at each other before turning their sight back to Blake who just burned his hand with hot water.

“...Should I reassign someone else to guard and watch over Maya?” Serah asked about Blake’s health mentally and physically.

“...I think this is healthy for him,” siad Char.

Serah’s eyebrows went up, “How so?”

“Well for starters,” Char smiles at Blake’s direction, “He’s been coming to work early.”

Serah nods her head in agreement, “Indeed he has.”

***MAYA”S SCHOOL***

After what happened, no one at school dared to pick a fight with Maya. They didn’t know that her uncle was a police officer. This part didn’t get corrected by Maya and she wasn’t planning on fixing it since it helped keep people away from her. Her days passed by like this.

School was over and Blake came to pick her up. They head back home. Maya enters the house before Blake and heads straight to the bathroom. Blake took off his shoes and saw the flower vase in a different place again. He stares at the vase somewhat puzzled. Blake hates it when he can’t explain what happens or understand what is happening. It exhausted his mind to no end, and he hates the feeling of being unable to do anything.

Blake goes into the kitchen and cooks up a dinner meal for Maya. When he finished, he wrote down a note of telling her where he went, and for her to stay in the house. She needs to finish her homework by tonight, not to stay up late, and don’t open the door for anywhere. If an emergency comes up, she has to concat Char with the house phone. If she leaves without telling Char or leaving a note, he will shoot her the moment he finds her.

Blake leaves his house after he finishes writing the note and heads over to the store. He bought a set of cameras, called his IT friend to install the security camera, and went back home. It was eleven at night when he returned. He opens the door with his IT friend, Steve right behind him.

“Are you going to pay me for this overtime?” Steve asked.

“You still owe me from last time, remember,” Blake shot back.

Steve clicks his tongue at him, “Well, one less debt to worry about. Where do you want me to install the cams?”

Blake points at the corner of the house where it was hard to locate them. Steve did as he was asked and finished installing the camera when it was one in the morning. While he was working on the cams, Blake made sure that Maya was still in the house and was asleep. Steve walks out of his house and looks at him, “Next time call me on my day off.”

“Sure, sure,” said Blake as he bid him farewell.

He closes the door and turns on his phone to check the camera fed. So far, nothing’s been happening. He gave out a sigh of relief. Maybe he was just being paranoid since this was a bad neighborhood. He thought that maybe someone was breaking into his house and pranking him. Blake turned in and didn’t wake up until his alarm to send Maya to school went off.

He sent her to school like normal and went to work like normal. During his break, he turned on the camera fed on his phone. There was no movement happening, but the flower vase moved again. He scratches his head irritated. Was it Maya along who was moving his flower vase?

He rewind the camera feed all the way to when he turned in last night. As he watches the feeds play out, his mouth slowly starts to open in shock. There was a dark figure moving around in the background as his furniture were swapping places. Blake jumps out of his chair with wide eyes. The figure was Maya. She was sleeping. Her hand was waving around in the air while his furniture was moving at her will. Her eyes were half open as she walked from the hallway to the kitchen and all the way to the door.

Just before morning came, Maya placed the furniture back where they belonged. She stopped in front of the flower vase and stared at it for a while. With a flick of her finger, the flower vase moved away from where it was placed and into a different location. She sleeps and walks back into her room and closes the door.

“Blake, Char is looking for you,” one of his co-worker called out.

But Blake didn’t answer them. He just stood there frozen with a tight grip on his phone. The co-work called out to him again, “Blake???”

***MAYA”S SCHOOL***

“We have a transfer student today class,” Mr. Harper announced, “Please welcome Dewight Jackson.”

A young teenage boy with chestnut short hair and amber eyes enters the room. He was a cute looking boy with kind looking eyes. All of the girls in the room were taken back by how cute he looks. Maya had her eyes looking out at the window, ignoring everything.

“Why don’t you introduce yourself,” said Mr. Harper.

Dewight smiles brightly at them, “Hi everyone, I’m Dewight. I transferred over here because my father just landed a job here. I love playing on the Z-box, and Leerstation. I look forward to spending the rest of my high school life here with all of you. Please take care of me.”

When he finished his speech, all of the girls in the room clapped and cheered for him except for Maya. As soon as the ruckus died down, Mr. Harper assigned his seat for him. The only empty seat left was the one next to Maya. Dewight walks down from the front to his desk and introduces himself to Maya.

He reaches out his hand to her, “Hi there, I’m Dewight.”

Maya turns around with a nod and resumes looking outside. The girls in the room sneers at her for ignoring him and how lucky she was to get such a good looking guy to sit next to her. The whole class time, Dewight was staring at Maya as she was staring out the window. When lunch break came, she tried to head out to eat her lunch in peace but was interrupted by Dewight.

“Want to eat lunch with me?” he asked.

Maya looks at him then at the girls glaring at her. She walks past him without answering him. But that didn’t stop him from following after her. Dewight followed Maya around the whole lunch break. It soon got on her nerves. She stops in her footsteps on her way towards the gym.

“Stop following me…” said Maya with a stern voice.

“But if I don’t, then I’ll get lost,” said Dewight, “I don’t know the school ground yet, and I followed you so far out here. I don’t know how to go back.”

Maya turns around and points behind him, “Just go straight and make a left turn when you reach the bathroom. You’ll end up back at the cafeteria where there’s lots of other students there.”

Maya turns away after giving him directions, but he still follows her. She stops again and glares at him, “I give you directions, so why are you still following me?”

“I’m kinda scared going back by myself,” he answered anxiously, “Why don’t we head back together?”

Maya just wanted to be alone. She didn’t want to be distrubed by anyone, however it doesn’t look like Dewight was going to leave her alone any time soon. She grumbles under her breath and heads back as he follows her.

***POLICE STATION***

Blake sat down with his mouth wide open.and a perplex expression. Something similar to a muppet with a wide mouth that won’t close. Char waves his hand around Blake, but there was no reaction. He even clapped in front of his eyes to make him blink, but there was nothing. Serah comes along and sees Char acting weird in front of Blake.

“What now?” Serah asked as she walked up behind Char.

Char places his hand on his hip and shrugs, “He’s making that face again.”

Serah looks at Blake, “Something weird happened again?”

Char nods, “Apparently. Steve told me that he installed cameras into Blake's house and during break when Bri was calling out to him, he suddenly became like this.”

“What?” One of Serah’s eyebrows went up, “He saw a ghost in the feed or something?”

Char shrugs.
