Chapter 4: A hard fought victory

Chamber guardians are divided into class like the ruins starting from D to S. So the higher the class of the ruin higher the guardian is. Among them S-class guardians are known to require multiple  S-class warriors to beat them. There are only 9 S-class warriors. Most of them are in the united front council and are the ones that strategize and deploy unit to fight fiends and raid ruins. They step when they are required.

But there was one guardian that these powerhouses could not defeat. The guardian that killed 12 S-class warriors, the Centurion centipede. A massive centipede with  near unbreakable shell, overwhelming speed and strength and above all the most poisonous of the guardians. The most sought resources are said to be protected by these centipedes.

Jack asks in terror “ Asahi, we came all this way without a single scratch because of your commands. So I will ask you, Can we defeat something, even those who rose to become legends couldn’t, how can we beat something that cannot be killed?”

“ Cannot be killed? If something is unkillable it is either those hunt it do not have skill or don’t posses the knowledge to do so. In your case its the latter.” Replies Asahi confidently

 “ so you are you saying we can kill it?” Jack asks.

“Not in the state your team is in” Asahi pointing the obvious.

“You idiots what the guys are you doing? Snap out of it. We can wait here to die or do something stupid like fogth that thing go off in a blaze of glory” shouts Jack in an attempt to rile them up.

“ Yeah the boss is right”

“ Something stupid, huh”

“ something stupid it is”

“ A toast to our deaths”

“ blaze of glory it is”

All of them started to get ready to attack

“ I think you guys are seriously understating my skill to command you to attack that thing, a little trust wouldn’t hurt you know” exclaims Asahi.

“Sorry, but having hope in this kind of situation could be more fatal that not any at all” Blake replied

“well said, then lets begin” Asahi started.

Through Asahi’s order each one of the four Tim, Trevor, Connor, Jack in four different direction attacked the centipede while regulating the mana as instructed by Asahi. As it turns out the centipede always attacked the one with highest mana output. Wade, Harris and Blake took this opportunity to deal melee attacks.

Because this rotation the squad was very exhausted but there was no major casualties. But it was evident they had to finish this soon. On Asahi’s order the three dealing melee attacks targeted particular joint. These joint had become weak and one strong attack would do the trick, but the problem was it would require all the seven to do it simultaneously. Since Jack had the strongest attack force and mana out the centipede would attack him making his joint to not be destroyed. The would be too exhausted to move forward with a secondary attack. So they had no choice but to continue with their initial plan.

“ charge up your attacks, ill provide a 1 second window” ordered Asahi.

Everybody were shocked but trusted Asahi, the man that brought them till this point unharmed, the man whose order led a A-class team to seriously wound a S-class guardian, with their life.

They began to charge up. Nearing full charge the centipede targeted Jack as expected. Jack did fear the incoming guardian as he had trust in his commander. Jack and the others fully charged their attacks, the centipede a 2 meters away from jack, all boils down to Asahi’s promised 1 second window.

The centipede suddenly changes target at 1 meter mark at rushes to Asahi, the promised second had arrived. Every one concentrated on the joint they were assigned to and blew the centipede into 3 parts. Everybody was exhausted. They could not move. But the head of the centipede still moved. It was not dead yet.

Asahi pulled something from his jacket pocket and threw it inside the centipede. The centipede exploded. The chamber guardian had been defeated and they had cleared the ruin without any casualties. Asahi walks up to jack.

“ How does it feel to kill something that legends could not?” asks Asahi with a condescending smile.

Everybody breaks to tears as they become the first to kill a centurion centipede and more than anything to be alive. They collect the rewards after resting up. While existing the ruin Asahi asks a favour from the Red hawk unit when asked he replied “ Tell they world I was never in this ruin , this was planned by Kirima”. Even though they didn’t like to take credit they figured Asahi had circumstances that made him ask this and they agreed.
