Dereck's Card
After the performance, Iris was backstage changed into some dazzling outfit getting ready to elegantly meet the guests outside. Trying to build up contacts to get into the industry and hunt her first work ever as an actress
She heard a knock at the door and turned to spot Andi at the door
Andy
Listen... about our last meeting, I'm really sorry. I was in a deep mess. Actually I had Dereck William Martin, invited as a chief guest so I wanted everything to be perfect!
Andy
Maybe my words went a little too harsh on you. Actually I'm not that harsh with pretty girls like you and well you are quite talented to manage to match upto MY status up there on stage!
Andi said arrogantly, focused on the word "MY"
Stella
(He is so self contained!)
Iris thought to herself but smiled at him.
Just at the moment a waiter knocked on the door and came upto Iris to hand her Dereck's card.
Waiter
Mr. Dereck William has personally sent you his card and is wishing to have a word with you at the party.
Iris acted composed and took the card from him and smiled elegantly but her insides were exploding with excitement
Stella
(Oh my gosh, IRIS!!!🤩🤩 You could actually manage to attract DERECK WILLIAM MARTIN'S attention!!!? Oh SHIT!! This day is sooo lucky! I'm sooner gonna be a star!! He has made so many actresses successfull, I am going to be one of them too!!)
Stella
(I'm sooner gonna be a part of this magical world!!🤩)
Andi noticed her expressions while she was still after two minutes of the waiter leaving from there, staring at the card lost in her daze.
Andy
I see, Dereck has an interest in you?
Andy
*scoffs** So that's how you plan on to get famous? Sleeping with him?! I thought you were talented and wanted to achieve this whole thing on your merit!
Andy
But then yeah, your sexual performance in bed could be counted as a "merit" too. If you were able to satisfy Dereck successfully!
Iris had no idea what Andi was talking about. Yeah, she had heard about casting couch and everything in movies and newspapers, but none of them mentioned Dereck's involvement in them and so, Iris didn't thought of him like that.
Also, she wasn't a person to judge someone just because a person was speaking ill about him. Being in this industry, she had now known that people talk ill about someone out of jealousy too.
Iris had no idea Dereck was Andi's brother.
Andy
Anyways, it's your life... Your body! You can sleep with anybody you want!
Andi said and turned to leave
After Andi left, Iris turned to do her make up again, but Anna was at the door when the two were talking and she heard everything
Anna
Why didn't you talked back or slapped him when he was insulting and questioning your character like that?
Anna
Iris, his words were so rude to you, doesn't it affect you at all?
Stella
When you're struggling, you need to remain quiet and take in whatever your seniors give you.
Iris said acting as if she doesn't care at all.
Stella
If I said anything against Andi Lockwood, he could get enrage and do stuff which could affect my career adversely.
Stella
And it's not like I would actually go sleep with Dereck just because he said it. I don't believe on words from people bashing people. What if... Dereck sir actually see the potential I have and is willing to help me honestly?
Anna
Iris, you're too innocent to be in this world. Glamour world isnt as simple as you think it is!
Stella
Anna, don't worry! You know I won't sell my character for my dreams
Stella
I am a graduate, if this acting field doesn't work for me I can still get some corporate job and work!
Iris said finishing off her make-up and got up from her seat to flaunt her look
Stella
Tell me how do I look?
Anna smiled warmly at her.
