“Hey, Care Bear,” said Sebastian as
he was closing the fridge. He did not see Caroline until he closed the fridge
and looked to his left. Caroline was just standing there holding a gun. “Care bear?
What are you doing? Put the gun down.” Caroline did not notice she was still
pointing the gun at Sebastian; she was thinking about the time she gave him the
key to her penthouse. Caroline instantly put the gun down and asked, “what’s up
Teddy? Why did you come here without letting me know beforehand? I was about to
shoot you.”
“I’m sorry, Care Bear. I wanted to check
up on you.”
“It’s okay. Come. Let’s sit on the
couch.” Sitting on the white upholstered sofa, Sebastian commented, “honestly,
I can’t get used to you having a gun around you.”
“It’s for my safety.”
“Yeah, but I’m worried something
bad could happen to you because of that.” Caroline assured Sebastian, “nothing
bad will happen, my uncle taught me how to use it when I was young. Remember, I
told you about my training. He is in the military and he just wanted me and my
cousin to know how defend ourselves. And also, to get us to follow into his
footsteps. Unfortunately for him, my cousin was the only one that followed his footrests.
Although the training was sort of forced, I am grateful for it.”
“Yes, I get it.” Sebastian’s faked
smile turned into a frown. “Teddy? Is everything okay? You seem a bit off,” she
spoke in a concerned tone. “Actually, Jennie and I had a fight. I came to ask
you if I could stay here for a while. That was actually the main reason why I
came here. Is it okay if I stay here for a bit? At least until she calms down.”
“Yes, you can stay here. Was your
fight with Jennie serious?”
“Not really. I just decided it was
best to give her some space.”
“Another kiss scene?” Sebastian
shook his head and responded, “No. A sex scene.” Caroline uttered, “tsk. Well,
I guess you are going to have to do more than Channel bag and some Louis Vuittons
to get her to forgive you.”
“But this is my job. I thought she
would be used to it by now.” Caroline placed her hand on his shoulder. “Teddy,
no woman will ever get used to her boyfriend or husband kissing another woman.”
“But it’s just acting.”
“Even if it’s just acting. How do
you think she feels?” Sebastian thought for a second. “Think about that,” Caroline
spoke as she stood up from the couch, “you know where the guest room is… I’m
super tired. I’m going to sleep. We’ll talk more tomorrow. Good night.”
“Sweet dreams, Care Bear.” Caroline
grabbed the gun she left on the kitchen counter and went to her room.
A week later, Sebastian got on good
terms with Jennifer and went back to their apartment. Caroline went to work
like usual. She was typing an email when Joseph knocked on the door. “Come in,”
said Caroline.
Joseph went inside her office and
said, “Miss King, there is a man here to see you.” Caroline was perplexed. “Do
I have a meeting scheduled with anyone?” Joseph responded, “no.” Caroline
wondered, “who would come see me without letting me know beforehand?”
Liam casually walked in the office. Caroline
was confused seeing Liam there. “Thank you, Joseph, you may go back to work now,”
said Caroline with a bright smile. Joseph lightly bowed his head and left her
office, closing the door behind him.
Liam sat on one of the chairs in
front of Caroline’s desk and commanded, “Let’s have lunch together.”
“I can’t have lunch right now. I’m
working.”
“I wasn’t asking.” Caroline looked
away from her computer to face him. “I’m still refusing your offer. I don’t
want to have lunch with you.”
“You are so stubborn, Caroline.”
Caroline rolled her eyes and said, “I already told you I won’t have lunch with
you.” Caroline looked back at her computer and continued typing. She gave him a
quick glance before looking back at the computer screen in front of her. Without
taking her gaze from the computer, she asked, “where are we going to eat?”
Caroline looked at him waiting for
an answer, but he remained silent. She let out a sigh and looked back at the
computer screen in front of her. She sent the email she was typing and stoop up
from her chair. She grabbed her black designer handbag. She fetched her dark
designer sunglasses from her bag and put them on. She walked towards the door
then stopped and spoke, “what are you waiting for? Let’s go.” Liam stood up
from the chair and walked towards the door. He opened the door and said, “after
you.”
“At
least he is a gentle man,” Caroline thought. Liam’s assistant drove them to
where Liam directed without letting Caroline know about the place.
When they arrived, Liam got out of
the car and went to open Caroline’s door for her. He extended out his hand and helped
her out of the car.
When Caroline stepped off the car,
Liam closed the door after telling his assistant to leave. “What are we doing
here?” Asked Caroline, “didn’t you say we were going to have lunch?” Caroline looked
at the building of the marriage bureau in front of her. She looked at Liam,
waiting for his answer. “We are going to get married,” Liam spoke, “pretend we
are a happy couple once we get inside and let’s just get this over with.”
Caroline scoffed. “Did you really
think I would marry you?” Liam raised his eyebrow and she crossed her arms.
“You can take over my father’s company for all I care. I will not marry you.” Liam
gripped her arm and moved her closer to him. On her ear he whispered, “remember
I still have your video. And you signed an agreement yesterday.”
Caroline remembered their agreement.
She pulled her arm way and started walking towards the entrance. “Asshole!
Hijo de puta,” she cursed him in her mind over and over. Liam placed his
hand on Caroline’s waist. Their looks caught the attention of many. It is not
every day a handsome young man and a beautiful young woman would walk together into
marriage bureau. In the eyes of bystanders, they seemed like a happy, loving couple.
As they stepped inside the building, Caroline took off her dark sunglasses, attracting
more attention towards them.
After getting their marriage
certificates, they walked out of the building and Liam’s assistant was waiting
for them. Marcus got off the black Rolls Royce and opened the door for them.
Caroline got in the car first then Liam went in after her. Marcus closed the
door once they were inside and got on the driver’s seat.
In the car, Caroline looked at him
in dead in the eye and said, “you better delete that video right now.” Liam decided
to tease her for a bit. “I don’t know what you are talking about.” Caroline’s
patience was running thin. “Liam, you better delete that video you took of me
in Cancun.”
“I don’t have a video of you, I
think you are going a little crazy.” Caroline snapped. “You ****! You promised
that you would delete that video once we got married.” Liam’s assistant was
shocked, there had not been anyone to dare raise their voice at Liam or even
dare to insult him like that.
Liam became annoyed with her tone and insults.
“Iis this what you mean?” Liam showed Caroline a recording that was not even
hers. Caroline was furious, she wanted to insult him, she wanted to punch him.
But she decided to just calm down. She took a deep breath and remembered that
she would go to jail for committing murder. During the entire ride, Caroline
looked at her phone. She was reading the news and looking at the stocks. It has
not been an hour and she is already thinking of filling for divorce.
When they arrived at the luxurious restaurant,
Liam opened the door and got off the car. He was about to go inside of the
restaurant when he noticed Caroline was still inside the car. He stepped closer
to the car and asked, “you coming or not?” Caroline crossed her arms, she
refused to eat in the same table with him. Liam grew tired of waiting for a
response. “Suit yourself.” He closed the door and started to walk towards the entrance
of the restaurant again. Caroline opened the door and got off the car. From the corner of his eye, he could see
Caroline approaching him.
When they entered the restaurant, Liam
was greeted by the manager of the empty restaurant. “Good to see you, Mr.
Sabbatini.” Caroline looked around the restaurant. It was as empty as her
stomach.
Sitting at the table, Caroline kept
looking around and wondering why the restaurant was so empty. “I like my
privacy, so I reserved the entire restaurant.” Caroline rolled her eyes without
him noticing. “Of course, he would reserve the entire restaurant.”
Caroline did not talk to Liam the
entire time; she did not even look at him. When they finished having lunch, Liam
directed his assistant to drive them to a luxurious jewelry store in fifth
avenue. She looked at the rose gold bracelet on her right wrist and remembered
when Persephone got it custom made at the same jewelry store. She recalled how
she got the matching one for Persephone.
They entered the store and were politely
greeted by the staff. They were the only customers in the store. “Choose any
ring you like,” said Liam. Caroline was still mad at him, so she just gave him
a death stare and looked around for a ring that she liked, but none caught her
attention.
While she looked around for a ring,
Liam sat on the sofa and looked at his phone. She kept looking around until she
saw a floral halo platinum ring with an oval shaped ruby and crystals
surrounding the ruby. Liam looked up from the phone screen and saw Caroline
take interest in a ring. He stood up from the sofa and walked over to her and
asked, “do you like this ring?” Caroline replied, “yes, I do.”
The staff manager walked up to them
and asked, “would you like to try it on?”
“Yes,” Caroline ecstatically replied.
“This is one of a kind,” spoke the staff manager. The ring fit Caroline
perfect. “We’ll take it,” said Liam. The other staff present started gossiping
about how much the ring cost.
The ring being a one of a kind, it
was worth four million and it was the most expensive ring the store has had so
far. While the staff members were gossiping about them, a couple stepped inside
the store. Sofia and Christopher were going to buy an engagement ring.
When they went inside, the staff
members didn’t notice them. They were too busy admiring the beautiful couple in
front of them. Then, the manager saw the entrance of the store and signaled the
staff members to greet them.
Caroline was admiring the beautiful
ring on her hand when Sofia went up to her and said, “that ring doesn’t suit
you.” Sofia has always been jealous of Caroline; her beauty, her wealth, her
intelligence. She could not let Caroline have something else she wanted. Caroline
just ignored her and told the manger, “we’ll take the ring.”
Sofia looked at the manager and
said, “she can’t take the ring. That ring is mine.” The manager looked
confused. “My fiancé and I have been planning on buying this ring for weeks
now. We’ll be getting married soon.” Sofia turned to Caroline and added, “Christopher
just loves me so much that he wants me to have the best items.” Caroline scoffed.
“Are you so jealous of me that you always want what I have?” Caroline’s comment
made Sofia’s blood boil. “Have you hit your head, dear? That ring is not yours,”
Sofia spoke.
“Not yet at least. And I wasn’t
talking about the ring.” Caroline looked at Christopher up and down. She turned
to the manager and said, “we’ll take the ring.” Sofia was getting angrier and
angrier. “Stop! Christopher, tell your ex that she can’t just get the ring that
I want just because she is jealous.” Christopher did not want to be involved in
their fight, but Sofia just dragged him into the conflict. Caroline laughed.
“What am I jealous of? A mediocre that did not even finish college and a CEO
wannabe that doesn’t even know how to manage a company?”
“That is not true, Christopher is fully
capable of managing a company!” Sofia was getting frustrated by Caroline’s
words. “Are you sure about that? Because last time I checked, Christopher’s
father was looking for a potential CEO for the company.” Caroline’s words hurt
Christopher.
“And you, Sofia, you dropped out of
school because you were so stupid to think that your family would maintain you.
But in reality, you have to marry Christopher because your father doesn’t want
to give you a single penny.” Sofia was furious. “Caroline King! You will pay
for the insults you’ve said!” Caroline just rolled her eyes at her and then
looked at Liam who was spectating the whole thing. “Babe, can you buy me this
ring?” Liam smirked. “Anything for you, princess.” Christopher and Sofia were dumbfounded. “Babe? Since when is she with him? How did they meet?” Christopher
wondered.
“You can’t take that ring!” Sofia
exclaimed “I’m sorry Miss, they were here first, so the ring is theirs,” the
manager explained. “We’ll pay double for the ring,” said Sofia in desperation,
she could not let Caroline win. Christopher stepped closer to her and said,
“Sofia, we can’t afford it.”
“Yes, we can. We’ll find a way.” Liam
told the manager, “we’ll take the matching set too.” Caroline looked at Liam in
shock, Christopher and Sofia were also in shock. Liam handed his black card to
the manager like it was nothing, the staff started to gossip again.
The manager placed the jewelry in
its box and then he placed it in a bag and gave it to Liam as well as his card.
“Let’s go, princess. They’ve already wasted too much of our time.” Caroline
grabbed Liam’s hand. She got closer to him and gave him a kiss on the cheek. “Thank
you, babe.”
While they were walking towards the
entrance, Liam overheard one of the employees murmur to another employee, “couple
goals? Am I right?” The other employee agreed. They were admired by the staff
and Christopher and Sofia just looked at them with anger and jealousy.
When Caroline and Liam were about
to leave the store, Sofia spoke, “I see that it didn’t take long to find a
replacement for Christopher.” Caroline stopped walking and said, “at least I
didn’t take a man that was already in a relationship.” Caroline turned around
and walked away while holding Liam’s hand.
They got in the car and Liam’s assistant drove
to Caroline’s company. Because Liam followed Caroline’s lead, she was not as mad with him anymore. “So, ‘babe,’ what was that about?” Liam asked out of
curiosity and to tease her. Caroline roller her eyes and explained, “that was
my ex and his girlfriend. They did something to me that they shouldn’t have done
and now they will pay the price.”
“What did they do?”
“That is not important. What’s
important is what I have planned for them.” Caroline arrived at her office and
resumed her work. She got a text from Liam, “I will pick you up at five
o’clock. This time, be on time.” Caroline rolled her eyes and left him on seen.
She continued working until I was four fifty. She got a call from Liam, “I’m
almost there.” Caroline replied, “I’m sorry, Liam, but you took most of my time
today and I have work to do.”
“I don’t want any excuses. We’re
going to Dante’s place and you have to get ready.” After he spoke, he hung up. Again,
he hung up on her, next time they talk, she will hang up on him. Five minutes
later Caroline gathered all her stuff and left her office.
Right when she got out of the
building, a black Rolls Royce parked in front of her. Liam’s assistant went to
open the door for Caroline and then they left. They arrived at Liam’s penthouse.
The stylist had been waiting for them for four minutes. Mrs. Spence, Liam’s maid
let him in.
When Caroline saw the stylist, she
was surprised. “Ricardo! What are you doing here? I thought you would be staying
in Mexico.” They greeted each other with a kiss on the cheek. “I arrived yesterday,
and I got a call from Mr. Sabbatini this morning. I did not know I would be
styling you, reina.”
Liam looked at how close they seemed,
he wondered for how long they have known each other. Ricardo clapped his hands
and said, “enough of the chit chat, you have to start getting ready.” Ricardo
grabbed Caroline’s hand and looked at Liam. “I’m taking her away, don’t miss
her too much.” Liam looked away as he raised his hand.
