You seem to forget this guy cannot talk. if he's using sign language, the don't know he's saying something until they look up. so, understand the character you want to write about before you do it. And again, mutes don't say ow, the highest they do is whimper. But I'll let that one slide because you said he could talk before, so, maybe it's just subconsciously, because he feels safe with them because, as you said, it's because of trauma he became mute. Please, and this is for all writers, if you're reading this, you should know and understand a lot about the character(s) you want to write about. Please. Thanks to those who will actually take corrections.
