In the fourth day of our practice, the scenario was about to get serious. I really hope we’d finish our practice early.
Terrence saw Anna sitting in the bench while studying. He bid a hasty goodbye to his friends to approach Anna. He started walking towards her.
“Anna, can we talk? About what happened the other day?”
“Terrence, I’m busy right now. We can talk later.”
With his calm voice he said, “I’m busy later with our project. So, I insist we talk now.”
“Look, I have important matters to attend to later, too. It’s almost 10am, I gotta go now,” I persisted as I fixed my things and ready to leave.
But Terrence stopped me, “Are you avoiding me? Look, I’m so—”
“I’m not, okay? I’m just really busy” I sighed.
What is it with this guy that makes me so uneasy? There’s something different about how he acts. Oh well, I was glad we finished early. I thought it would take us hours to practice. I felt so good going home earlier than before that I even thanked everyone for being cooperative today.
This was the last day of practice and there won’t be any further rehearsals until the main performance night so we could rest and do our own memorizations at home.
Terrence’s friends were at his house for a drink.
“Bro, it’s been a week since Anna and I got into a fight,” slurred Terrence as he drank his beer.
Dominic, his best friend, said, “Whoa! This is the first time that you and Anna stayed mad at each other for a week.”
“Yeah, right. This is the first time. She’s so frustrating. She’s my everything bro and you know that. Two years is not a joke,” said Terrence.
“Terrence, chill! I know you and Anna will be alright. You’ll patch things up, soon,” his best friend consoled.
When Terrence became impatient because Anna was not answering his calls or texts, he decided to go to her house.
“Anna! Are you home? Answer me!”
He was about to knock again when an old woman opened the door and said, “Anna is not around. She’s going to the bookstore and heading straight to the library to study.”
Disheartened, Terrence said, “I thought she’d be here. She told me that she’ll be staying at home the whole day…”
After offering an apology for the misunderstanding, Terrence left.
He was barely turning around the corner when he saw Anna with another guy. He rushed towards her and grabbed her. He was furious. “Who is he?! You didn’t bother answering either of my messages and calls because of him?! Is that it?!”
“You’re hurting me, Terrence. Let go of my arm!” Anna shouted as she pulled away from Terrence. She bid farewell to the guy with her and apologized.
“Answer me, Anna! Who is he?! Your maid told me that you were at the library and just now I saw you with a guy? I thought you didn’t have friends?”
“He isn’t my friend, he’s just some guy who I bumped into the library who lives in the same street as I am! So stop your whining! You’re being childish!”
“Tell me, Anna. Do you still want this relationship to work?”
Anna remained silent.
“Why are you quiet? Do you want this or no—”
She looked at him and said with finality, “Let’s end this.”
