Chapter 20

"H...How are you feeling?" It was a stupid question, Bokuto was obviously on the verge of suffering to death yet this is how he started a conversation? The answer was obvious but Bokuto didn't mind answering truthfully.

"I'm not doing well as you can see..." Bokuto replied. It was honestly painful to see Bokuto telling Akaashi how he felt outside, just pain and fear. But this is how they were destined to be, 'Till death do us apart' Would be the phrase that would perfectly drift their bond.

"You seem tired, have you gotten any sleep from last night?" Bokuto asked as he noticed that there were light dark circles under his eyes.

"I don't think so"

"Then, do you mind sleeping beside me?"

The offer was sudden yet a delightful one too. Akaashi who hesitated to say the words of 'No' out of his mouth, nods his head from side to side signalizing a disagreement to his offer.

Why did he decline you might ask, Akaashi was bond to fear that the more they deepen their friendship, the deeper of a sharp dagger of pain will pierce his heart. Fear was the only one stopping him, but his love was there to help him believe the slightest hope he could reach.

"Please...?" Bokuto begged, and from that tone to which Akaashi heard from the deep, painful, pleading voice of Bokuto was enough for him to accept his request with no hesitation.

"Bokuto-san, I might hurt you if I do" Akaashi stated before walking closer on the bed.

Bokuto just smiled and grabbed Akaashi's hand pulling him closer using the little strength he could produce.

He's getting weaker...

"No you won't, I trust you"

Though Bokuto's voice was in deep pain, the words he had spoken contained no lies within. It's true, Bokuto trusted Akaashi even if they only met for less than a month. The weird feeling of tension in between them both made Bokuto realize he was different from others.

Akaashi sighed and rested beside Bokuto. He grabbed the sheet and covered them both with Bokuto's arm on top of Akaashi resting comfortably. Akaashi looked up once again to ensure that this wasn't awkward because for sure, this isn't the way friends should act. Bokuto just smiled purely; brightly at Akaashi and closed his eyes before the other male could have.

Kenma who was just outside of the room peeking on the blurred glass of the door, grinned, feeling proud of his friend but that soon turned into a frown of pity. He turned around to see Kuroo behind him, waiting.

"Bokuto's time, it's running out faster, is it?" Kuroo asked in an anxious tone.

From what Kenma saw earlier that Akaashi couldn't have had noticed. indeed. Bokuto's last moments had come to a near end. Kenma didn't want to answer that question but the look on his face made it clear for Kuroo.

Akaashi... Gomen Kenma whispered where he could only hear and left the hospital along with Kuroo.

Akaashi slept beside Bokuto quickly than the other could have realized. After all that waiting and vast rest, Akaashi was tired; exhausted and Bokuto's proposal was perfect for this situation.

Bokuto smiled at the sleeping male as he seemed peaceful sleeping beside him which made him glad. Pulling his hand up and shifted it towards Akaashi's cheek, he slowly; gently placed his palm light enough to not make Akaashi wake up.

Using his thumb to crease his face, he retorted his arm back to where it belonged. It felt so... wrong to Bokuto, not that he was scared or anything, there was just something that was lingering in his hand to stop.

He brushed off that little presence of wrongfulness and tried to sleep with the other. He shut his eyes closed giving it all to make himself sleep but nothing, it seemed impossible. His body was tired, his eyes wanted to shut close and rest, but his mind or a part of his body interrupting his process of sleeping making the lightest yet smallest sound he could hear turns him to wake up.

But little did the two know, that their encounter the other day was the last time they could have smiled with no fear either deep pain within would be the last.

Akaashi's 2nd star was fading.
