"You were his bitch."
Éva continued, "you should know your place, little waitress. These tricks to catch the big fish are really outdated. How could you even think that my fiancé, would ever lay his hands on you!"
Auden didn't say anything and was nervously shaking.
Éva pushed the girl back and she fell down crying.
"Get the hell out of here" Éva declared. "You don't even deserve to be his toy." Éva looked at her with her dark cold eyes. That look was enough to tear anyone to pieces.
I wasn't aware of this drama, I've never heard about any of his affairs. I thought he was a decent one woman guy.
But, what about Lolli, where is she? I'm sure she'll go nuts when she knows about this or was she already aware of it?
I looked left and right to see where Lolli was, but she wasn't there. I took my phone out of my clutch and called Lolli. She wasn't responding to it.
"Come on Lolli, pick up!" I mumbled again and again.
I heard her phone ringing from one corner of the rooms. I hurried towards that area where it was ringing.
Just as I was advancing towards the room, I saw Lolli; crying. But, a man stood next to her. As though he was trying to comfort her. Who is he? I've never heard Lolli saying that she was dating any man. Wait... Is he Peter? No, that can't be, he's not so tall. But, I haven't seen him since long, it could be him! I don't wanna meet Peter.
As I saw him more clearly, he looked more and more handsome. He said in his smooth and polished voice,
"don't cry. You'll be fine. It's okay."
He had the same voice from back then, the one I heard speaking when I was sipping my wine.
I'm sure it's the same voice. I couldn't have mistaken him. I walked slowly not to disturb their ambience. If only I could see his face.
He looked admirable from the back. His figurine was flaunting itself as though it was hand crafted by God himself. I neared them to just be able to see him.
Lolli sobbed in distress, probably because of the occurrence that's going on.
But, all I could think of now was the man next to her. Am I being a mean friend right now?
As I got closer to them, I wanted to see him more, but then, a loud crashing noise diverted my mind; as though something broke into pieces. I rushed back to see what was going on.
I saw Asher smirking and enjoying the view. He ordered a neat whiskey and drank it as though he was watching a show. A little steps forward was Mrs. Lee, she stood there with a blank expression, unaffected by anything. Some of the guests enjoyed the ruckus while some just watched in boredom.
As I looked ahead, I witnessed the waitress drenched in alcohol and a bottle of champagne broken next to her. This could only mean one thing– Éva had done it. She is someone who has her temper, not under her control.
"He loved me! Auden, you loved me... Right?" She cried. Éva folded her arms; her face reddened as she was fuming with anger.
Auden finally spoke, "I don't know this woman!" He looked at Éva and clarified, "She probably has ill intentions of getting into a rich household. You know low class girls these days, they have only one motive; to get into the high society by false means."
Éva grasped her hair as she screeched in pain. "You heard him? Now stop pretending to play the victim card."
☃️
I knew Éva had anger issues, but I never knew it was so intense and scary.
I even forgot about Lolli, I turned around to get back to that room, but they were not there. What's wrong with everything? It's driving me insane.
Should I help that waitress? But, she could be lying and it's not even my family matter. If I save her, won't I be asked about my relation with her? And, on what basis should I even help her? She dared to pull out an act so bold even after knowing she was the one who was at a loss.
The waitress then got up, her legs were sloppy and she wasn't even in her control anymore, she pulled out her hand and tried to slap Éva, but Auden grabbed her arm. She was broken from her insides. Even if her hand did reach to Éva's cheek, I don't think it would've even hurt her.
I don't know what to do anymore. Should I help that idiotic waitress or should I ignore it like everyone else?
I took a deep breath and marched forward. I don't care if she was wrong or if she lied. All I knew now was that, she needs help. She's standing alone, fighting for something that only she believes, that will and can, never be hers, among people who don't even care if she were killed right now.
I walked through the guests and let go of Auden's wrist.
Éva glared at me and asked, "what are you doing, Hae Ra?"
"I thought she was a bother for your party. So, just helping you dispose her off."
I held her hand and pulled her out.
She took her hand back and said, "no! I won't go. I have to get my Auden back. He's not marrying for love. I'm his love."
Enough is enough. How can she be so blinded by him. Can't she understand the situation she put herself in?
"HaeRa, don't think for her too much. She deserved what she got and I'm not surprised if she still is not satisfied with the treatment she received." Éva said coldly.
I looked at the waitress and asked, "what is you name?"
She replied, "Catherine"
"Catherine, such a beautiful name you have. Your parents must have thought you'd live like a queen to have chosen that name for you. But if you plan to love this man, I doubt you'll even get to live like his mistress."
I continued, "do you seriously think you love him? Or perhaps, do you think, he loves you?"
She looked sad and fiddled with her fingers as I spoke.
I held her hands and tried to take her out of the hall, but she withdrew her hand and shoved me back.
I lost control for a second, and my heels made me stumble. I thought that I would fall down on the ground hurting myself, but there was someone behind me.
He held onto me as I was about to fall down on the ground. It felt warm. His wide hands held my shoulders and his sharp jaw touched my head. His chest was wide enough to fit me perfectly and pretty strong.
He said in his damn attractive voice, "how could you push her back? When all she did, was try to help you!"
I felt chills in my body from tip to toe upon hearing his voice. It made my heartbeat faster. I could hear the thump in my heart and feel every pulse in my body. It was the same man from before, when I was drinking wine, whom I saw next to Lolli.
What's wrong? Am I sick?
I wanted to tell him to let go, but I also liked his presence. His warm embrace, his silvery voice, his gentle touch; everything about him was filling up my mind.
No, it's not good. It's not good. I already have Walter. I shouldn't think of any other man.
But, a single peek won't do any harm, right?
I tried to look at him and moved myself a little. He let go of his hands as I moved.
No, I didn't mean you should let me go when I moved myself.
Hold me back. Hold me back!
I turned as he let go of me and then, I saw his face; his sharp jawline, peachy plump lips, flawless skin, baby eyes, his thin little nose and hair combed and parted in the middle disclosing his forehead.
"Augustus? It's..."
