Chapter 5| A Journey to Remember

He watched her from the corner of his eye.

Follow her.

That was his orders. Nothing more, nothing less, nor too soon to acknowledged the young girl in her 20s, making its way to the bus stop, unaware of her surroundings. But when the bus stopped and she stood, he noticed she'd left behind her wristlet purse. Snatching it up, he took out after.

"Miss!"

He sprinted of the bus just as it started up and moved back into traffic.

"Hey miss!" He waved her small bag. She turned and saw him running towards without panting, he was slightly running, couldn't care less to all the eyes gazing at him. And not a moment too soon. The car came out of nowhere, but in a split second, he saw the driver, he knew it was no accident. He grabbed the girl and yanked her out of the away, just in time.

She was startled at first, astonish by his tall features and pale skin, giving her a softest benevolent eyes. His touch are arousing every sense in her. She gulped and stutter.

"Uhm,,,thank you for saving my life. What kind of superhero are you anyway?" She brushed away the tingle feeling on her skin. Rigid still.

"I'm not" He replied, putting his hands on the pocket, although it's not cold.

"Ha..Ha, you're joking right?"

"No, it's true I'm not"

"Well you save me twice, me and my bag. Who are you then?" She sneered

"Nobody"

"But you just,,"

"Saved your life?"

"Ya."

"Well, I couldn't let you die." He looked at her, his eyes had creased, glimmering with amusement, and his cheeks were reddened from his little run.

Her heart swelled at lovely sight, he's such a sweet and sincere guy. She was getting more alarmed when she glanced at her watch. She turned into fear.

"Oh gracious lord in heaven, I am so late now, before I leave, what's your name?" She stopped in a halt, smile in her merriment.

"Noah, Noah Partridge."

She smiled and nodded, leaving him mystified under the silhoutte of the hustle and bustle, she waved away at him.

..._______...

"Where have you been, Diana?!" A guy with a black locks ask her, once she sat down next to his chattery best friend.

"I just met a guy." Diana said with such enthusiasm on her eyes.

"You've always met a guy this past 5 years and they didn't work, did they?" He stifled a sarcastic laugh.

"Sawyer, you definitely envy me aren't you?" I giggled back at his bewildered expression.

He rolled his eyes.

"Anyways, any plans for your christmas holiday? You're not gonna spend another month in my granny's house are you?"

"I don't know McAllister, should I just spend christmas here in London? I have my savings with me, I can just stay at an inn in Scotland, don't worry about me. I'm worried about you." For Diana, it's a matter of set-back sarcasm for Sawyer who often tease her and she would always give a sly remark over him.

He muttered rolling his eyes.

"Oh darling, please I have my plans organized. I'm going to Peru on saturday it's almost winter break, I need my personal vacation and a little me time." Rae scrunches her nose and raise her eyebrows, her pupil slighty bigger than usual. She took a sip of her coke. The background noise of the chatters in the cafeteria evaporates and echoed through her ears, as if wearing a headphones would define what she looks like at the moment. Unable to comprehend any words Sawyer has said.

"This is quite the surprise, are you sure though? So, your gonna be back before christmas then?" She lean forward, confirming every phrases were delivered in conformity and crsytal clear.

He arched his right eyebrows, and tilted his head.

"Yeah, I guess." leaning back in his seat.

Diana desperately gawk at his respond, it was at this time his being so ignorant about her existence. He is changing, more likely finding his way to fled from his restrained soul.

He stood up and waved goodbye to Diana leaving her dumbfounded, she didn't know what was distracting her, alluring her sensible thoughts.

Her life back then was an utter dilemma, a complete journey she won during the battle, a slight despair to remember when she was younger.

She is now stronger, better, but something was missing.

If only Edmund was here, he would always know and never did he doubt any of his principles and views. The composure he has, the resentment, he is and only him, is the substance of the universe, the pages of the book, the one who taught her to be fearless, to be free, and to you.

She brush a strand of her hair, tuck it behind her ear. She stood up and tighten the grip on her wristlet purse as if it were able to make the snowstorm on her head disappear.

She walk off the cafeteria and take slow steps into the class.
