But her life takes a turn when she’s trapped in an arranged marriage she never imagined.

Chapter 1 – The Night That Changed Everything

The rain tapped gently against the window, and the dim glow of the night lamp filled Vidi’s lavender-scented room. Wrapped in her soft blanket, she was lost in a peaceful sleep, her long hair scattered across the pillow.

Everything was quiet—until it wasn’t.

A sudden burst of raised voices came from the living room downstairs. At first, she thought she was dreaming. But the shouting grew louder—sharp, panicked, and completely out of place in the Yadav household.

Vidi’s eyes flew open.

Her parents never fought. Not once in her twenty-one years had she seen them argue like this. A strange fear tightened in her chest as she climbed out of bed and slipped on her slippers.

The hallway felt unusually cold.

She went downstairs slowly, her heart thudding with every step. As she reached the living room, she saw her mother sitting on the sofa, tense and teary-eyed, while her father stood near the dining table, his hand pressed to his forehead in frustration.

“Maa? Papa?” Vidi’s voice trembled. “What’s happening? Why… why are you shouting?”

Both of them froze.

Her mother quickly wiped her tears, trying to compose herself. Her father looked at her with a mix of guilt and helplessness.

“Vidi beta… come here,” her mother said softly, patting the spot beside her.

Confused and anxious, Vidi sat down. “Please tell me what’s going on.”

Her father took a deep breath. “There’s something important we need to discuss with you.”

Her heartbeat quickened.

Her mother placed a shaky hand over hers. “We’ve… we’ve fixed your marriage.”

For a moment, Vidi didn’t understand the words. “What?” she whispered.

Her father continued quietly, “It’s an arranged marriage. With Kunal Rathore—the CEO of Rathore Enterprises in the US. He’s expanding his business in India and wishes to collaborate with our company, GOALS. To build a strong bond, he suggested a marriage alliance.”

The room spun.

Vidi stood up abruptly. “And you just agreed?” Her eyes filled with tears. “Did you even think about asking me? About what I want?”

Her mother tried to hold her hand, but Vidi pulled away, her voice breaking. “How could you decide my life without me?”

Tears slipped down her cheeks.

Her father’s face crumpled with guilt. “Beta, we didn’t want to hide it from you. This alliance will secure our company’s future… and yours. Kunal is responsible, powerful, and—”

“I don’t care who he is!” Vidi cried. “You’re talking about my marriage, not a business deal!”

Her mother stood and wrapped her arms around her gently, even as Vidi struggled. “Please try to understand, beta… it’s for your good. We would never hurt you knowingly.”

“You’re asking me to marry a stranger,” she whispered, voice trembling. “How is that good for me?”

Her mother’s eyes softened with pain. “We’re not forcing you… but we’re requesting you. This decision will protect everything you’ve dreamed of—the company, your future, everything you’ve worked for.”

Her father spoke again, quieter this time. “Kunal is not just powerful, he’s trustworthy. We wouldn’t give your hand to a man unworthy of you.”

But Vidi shook her head, tears flowing freely now. “You don’t know what I want… you didn’t even ask.”

She sank back onto the sofa, wiping her face. Her parents sat close to her, trying to calm her, whispering reassurances she couldn’t fully hear.

She felt trapped.

One night. One decision. And suddenly, her life was no longer hers.
