Chapter 5 – The Kolkata Encounter

Chapter 5 – The Kolkata Encounter

The streets of Kolkata were alive in a way that only this city could be. The honking of yellow taxis, the aroma of street food, the chatter of people — it all melded into a symphony of chaos. Yet today, there was another layer of excitement that had turned the city upside down.

Tom had arrived for a high-profile photoshoot. Advertisements, magazine covers, and TV interviews awaited him. Fans had gathered outside the studio hours in advance, hoping to catch a glimpse of the star whose face seemed to shine from every screen, every billboard, every magazine rack.

Security ropes and barricades struggled to contain the crowd. Teenagers screamed, waving banners, holding selfies, and shouting his name. Cameras flashed incessantly.

And then, through the chaos, Andrew pushed his way forward, unbothered by the screaming crowd around him.

He wasn’t like the others. The others screamed, shouted, waved frantically. They were loud, chaotic, and chaotic in predictable ways. Andrew was different. Calm, deliberate, and bold in his obsession. He held a small banner in one hand, his other hand raised in a perfect flying kiss.

“Tom… I… love you!” Andrew whispered under his breath, just loud enough for himself, but with a confident flick of his wrist, he sent the kiss toward the celebrity standing several meters away.

Tom’s eyes flicked up, scanning the crowd, smiling politely at most of the fans. Then, in that instant, he caught Andrew’s flying kiss. Something in the bold, unapologetic gesture made him pause.

A smile tugged at the corner of Tom’s lips — soft, amused, faintly curious. He didn’t know the boy’s name, didn’t know his life, didn’t know anything. Yet for a split second, amidst the screaming fans and flashing cameras, he noticed.

Andrew’s heartbeat skipped a beat as the corner of Tom’s smile met his gaze. The world around him blurred — screaming fans became background noise, cameras became invisible. The connection was fleeting, brief, yet undeniable.

Then Tom moved on, professionally, leaving the crowd to cheer as though nothing had happened. But Andrew couldn’t stop smiling.

He watched Tom’s figure walk toward the studio, every step precise, elegant, effortless. And though Tom didn’t know it, he had already etched a small, secret memory of Andrew into his mind — the bold fan with the flying kiss in a sea of thousands.

Gaurav, standing beside Andrew, rolled his eyes. “Bro… did you just… flying-kiss the star?”

Andrew grinned sheepishly, brushing a strand of hair from his eyes. “Yeah… and he noticed.”

Gaurav groaned. “Dude… only you. Only you could do something this insane. And he smiled. He smiled at you! What are you going to do now?”

Andrew didn’t answer. His mind was elsewhere, floating on a single thought: Tom had noticed him. That one moment — that one tiny acknowledgment — was enough to ignite a fire he didn’t want to put out.

As Tom disappeared into the studio, Andrew’s obsession felt heavier, more real. The flying kiss had been small, but in his mind, it was monumental. Somewhere deep down, he knew this was the start of something bigger — something he had been waiting for, dreaming about, and perhaps even craving.

And somewhere, in a private corner of Tom’s mind, that fleeting smile lingered, unnoticed by the world, but not by him.
