The next morning, Evan walked to school, followed by the ghost of Amelia floating above him. Evan wore his family's heirloom necklace hidden under his uniform so no one could see it. He looked up to talk to Amelia.
"Hey... Amelia, so the event you mentioned happens tomorrow? I die because of it, saving you? And is it a global or local event?" Evan asked.
"Hmm... I don't think so. The event happens after you die... I don't remember exactly when, but if I'm not mistaken, it's after the sports festival and... that event is really terrifying... I don't think you die because of it... sorry, I don't remember if it's local or global. Maybe if we get to school, I'll remember something," Amelia replied.
"Okay, I hope you remember something once we get there. I really need to know what's going to happen to me tomorrow; I'm not ready to die," Evan said.
"Yeah, I know... maybe the reason I'm with you now is because I want to save you... I don't really know what the real reason is," Amelia replied.
"Hmm... okay, I get it. But the living you must be pissed at me right now because of that chat last night," Evan said.
"Don't worry, she won't be mad forever... even though I don't remember anything... I know what I'm like," Amelia replied.
"I hope you're right," Evan said.
They continued walking toward the school, which was on the side of the main road, right in front of the housing complex where Evan's house was. When they arrived, Evan quickly walked through the school gate and headed for the main school building. He glanced up again at Amelia floating beside him.
"Well? Remember anything?" Evan whispered.
"Hmm... not yet," Amelia replied.
"Ugh... okay," Evan said, picking up his pace.
They entered the school building, walked down the corridor, and went up the stairs in the middle to the second floor. When they got to the front of classroom 11-2, Evan walked in, but suddenly, "BAM!" a large fist landed on Evan's face from the side, sending him flying back into the lockers at the back of the class, where he fell to the floor.
Evan looked up, holding his throbbing cheek. He saw a guy with short, spiky blond hair, a muscular build, a messy uniform, and an earring standing in front of him with his fists clenched. Behind him, the living Amelia, with her beautiful face, looked angry, her arms crossed, giving Evan a sneering look.
"BLAK!" The guy suddenly grabbed Evan's uniform with both hands and lifted him up.
"You've got some nerve, talking to my girl like that last night! You got a death wish?" the guy yelled.
"S-sorry, Chase, I didn't mean it," a scared Evan said.
"Huh... you didn't mean it? You were clearly trying to talk to my girl at two a.m. What do you want? I told you before, if you ever messed with my girl again, you were dead," a furious Chase said.
"BAM!" Chase's fist landed on Evan's face again, and "CRASH!" Evan fell again, his back hitting the lockers. Chase grabbed Evan's uniform one more time and lifted him, pulling his arm back to hit Evan again, but suddenly, "TAP!" The living Amelia, standing behind him, grabbed Chase's arm.
"That's enough, babe, just let him go. You'll get in trouble with a teacher if anything happens to him. I've already talked to Mr. Reynald about moving my seat so I'm not next to him anymore," the living Amelia said.
"Huh... fine ("CRASH," he threw Evan against the lockers, making him fall again) you got lucky, stalker. Remember this, if you bother Amelia again, you're dead," Chase threatened.
Amelia immediately pulled Chase away, leaving Evan sitting on the floor, leaning against the lockers, his face in pain. As Amelia pulled Chase, she glanced back at Evan with a sneering, angry, and arrogant look before she turned back around. Evan glanced at the ghost of Amelia, who was crouching beside him, looking anxious.
"See? I told you you had a boyfriend," Evan whispered.
"Huh... I don't want a boyfriend like that. Sorry... you got beat up because of me," the ghost of Amelia said, stroking Evan's cheek.
"It's fine... it's already happened... but are you serious? You don't want a boyfriend like Chase?" Evan asked, confused.
"Yeah, I don't like arrogant, cocky people who hit first and ask questions later. Even if he's hot, I'd never want him. I'm confused looking at my living self dating him, it's like it's not even me," the ghost of Amelia replied.
"I'm really surprised. The ghost and the real you are so different. The real you is like some arrogant person with no feelings... but the ghost is so nice," Evan mumbled, loud enough for the ghost of Amelia to hear.
"Hehe, that's how it is... but trust me, I know what I'm like... I don't like to see violence happening around me, especially if it's done by my boyfriend... or someone close to me," the ghost of Amelia said.
"Maybe I'm going to die tomorrow because Chase kills me, haha," a weak Evan mumbled, trying to smile even though his face hurt.
"Hmm, I don't think it's because of that guy... I don't know... but honestly, I don't remember Chase at all. It's impossible for him to be my boyfriend and me to just forget him, since I'd have to love him, right... something else is going on, and I'll definitely remember it. You can relax; I'm going to help you... I'm sure of it," the ghost of Amelia replied.
Evan couldn't say anything else. He held his cheek and leaned against the lockers. His classmates who saw him sitting in front of the lockers just walked past and looked at him. Not a single person helped him. Some girls even gave him a sneering look as if they hated and were disgusted by him. Evan didn't care; he was used to being treated like that. He slowly tried to stand up, then limped to his seat at the back, all by himself.
The ghost of Amelia sat next to Evan, but when her butt touched the chair, her body suddenly trembled. She slowly turned to look at the window. Her ghostly face suddenly became even paler and looked terrified.
"I... I know what happens to you tomorrow," the ghost of Amelia mumbled suddenly.
"Huh... what? Hurry up and tell me before you forget again," Evan said, turning around.
"I don't know what happens to the living me, but tomorrow, I go to the roof and I'm going to jump to kill myself... I can feel a really strong heartbreak in my heart... and before I jump... you grab me and pull me, and you're the one who falls," the ghost of Amelia said in a trembling voice.
"Why are you so heartbroken? What happened?" Evan asked, excited and whispering.
"Sorry... I don't remember... something happens today... but I can't remember what," a trembling ghost of Amelia replied.
Evan turned to look at the front of the class and saw the living Amelia, sitting on Chase's lap because she refused to sit next to Evan. Amelia looked like she was laughing at something Chase said, his arm wrapped around her waist. But suddenly, Evan realized something. He was so used to studying the expressions of his mom, dad, and grandma's ghosts that he was now able to understand the expression on the living Amelia's face.
Amelia looked like she was laughing, but she seemed to be forcing it, and she probably didn't really like what Chase was saying. She was just being polite and showing that she was intimate with Chase, even though she wasn't, if you looked at her expression carefully and not just in passing.
He glanced over at the ghost of Amelia, who was now smiling carefree next to him, having already forgotten what she just remembered. The ghost of Amelia looked much happier than the living Amelia.
"Hmm... so that's it. Whatever happens today... it must have something to do with Chase, and it's no wonder the ghost of Amelia forgot... she doesn't like Chase," Evan thought to himself.
