She smiled, eyes mischievous.

The salutes, the rules, the ‘yes, sir’ and ‘no, ma’am.’ Don’t you ever want to just… breathe?

Breathing isn’t part of training.

For the first time, a ghost of a smile tugged at his lips.

The air between them thickened. His eyes dropped, for the briefest second, to her lips before he forced himself to look away.

Just then, her father’s voice boomed from behind

Arjun, tell me about the new training module!

The moment shattered. Arjun straightened instantly, his soldier mask slipping back on.

💭Alas, dad always comes in a wrong timing. I wanted to chat with more. 😮‍💨

As Arjun spoke with her father, Kiara leaned back in her chair, her heart racing.

She knew, deep down, that tonight had changed something. And she couldn’t wait to see what would happen next.
