Fire

When Lioran reached the village, he saw that it was engulfed in fire and smoke. Except for the crackling sound of burning fire, there was no other sound. Lioran asked himself in astonishment: "What happened? Was there an attack? Mom… where is Mom? Has she died? No, don't think badly… maybe she's still at the restaurant with aunt." And he ran toward the burning part of the village.

Lioran's mother, Charlotte, was a beautiful 35-year-old woman, from whom Lioran had inherited his beauty and black hair. Charlotte, along with one of her friends named Mary, who was about the same age, had silver-colored hair, and was a little chubby, had opened a restaurant in this small village. That was why he rushed toward the restaurant, hoping his mother might be there.

When Lioran reached the fire, he stared at the flames coldly and said to himself: "If this fire was created by magic and is at level six or lower, I can extinguish it using the Absorption skill." He stretched his hand toward the fire and activated Absorption, but he could not absorb it. He said to himself: "This fire must be natural… not magical, that's why I can't absorb it." And then Anahita answered: "This is the fire of a dragon… and judging from its extreme heat, it belongs to a high-level dragon. Probably this fire won't be extinguished for several months."

Lioran's cold eyes – which usually looked half-closed and demonic – opened wide in shock. He said to himself: "For several months? That's impossible! What kind of fire can last for weeks or even months?" Then, feeling the heat of the fire, he looked carefully at the ground and his tongue froze. The earth was melting and turning into magma. After seeing this fire, Lioran began to argue with himself. A part of him said: "Go! Leave as soon as possible. Maybe she's there, waiting for you!" But another part said: "Everything is burned. It's not worth the risk. They're all dead."

But even though Lioran knew it was impossible for anyone to survive in this fire, he still wanted to see with his own eyes. So he asked Anahita: "Send me the strongest sixth-circle water magic to my mind so that I can use it." Anahita immediately sent him the strongest sixth-circle water spell, called Waterfall of Water. Lioran stretched his hand toward the fire and, without chanting any incantation, only by speaking the name "Waterfall of Water", he cast the spell. An immense amount of water gushed from his hand, like a small flood passing over a house, spreading around and engulfing all the flames. But in the blink of an eye, all the water turned to steam, and the fire burned as strongly as before. Lioran shouted loudly: "Damn it! How is this possible? Doesn't water extinguish fire? What the hell is this?!"

Anahita replied: "This fire belongs to a high-rank dragon. Normally, a dragon's flame at this level burns for at least several months… unless a ninth-circle magician comes to extinguish it."

Lioran, with calm anger, said: "For now, we don't have a ninth-circle magician…" and slowly put his hand into the fire. Within seconds, he pulled it out with a scream. His hand was completely burned. He quickly activated the Regeneration skill, and his hand was restored. He told himself, "Entering this fire is impossible."

Since Lioran wanted to better assess the situation, he used the Flying Magic – Fourth Circle, and flew into the sky. The scene he saw in the middle of the fire was unimaginable. Nothing remained; no houses, no land, no people… only fire and the smell of burning.

As Lioran stared into the flames, Anahita said to him: "One kilometer to the west, I smell blood." Lioran quickly rushed in that direction, saying to himself: "There is still hope… whoever is there must be saved, so that I can learn about my mother's situation. Even if they are half-dead, I can heal them with the healing magic. I must hurry."

And when he arrived there, the scene he encountered froze him in place…

Lioran froze when he saw the scene in front of him. In front of him there was a ground full of blood and a woman whose hands and legs were cut off. Seeing the cooking clothes that his mother and Mary used to wear in the restaurant, Lioran got scared that this woman might be his mother. But since the woman's hair was white, Lioran told himself: "This can't be my mother, nor Mary. This woman's hair is completely white. She looks like an old woman." But still there was a fear in his heart—what if it was his mother
