The First Collision

Asuna sat at the corner table of her luxurious chamber and an memory fragment made her smile

It was not so long but something that happened 7 years ago

The university courtyard had been buzzing that morning, students rushing between lectures, the air alive with chatter and clinking coffee cups. Asuna remembered walking through the crowd like a storm contained in silk—head high, perfect posture, that faint aura of untouchable Whitmore elegance wrapped tightly around her. To most, she was intimidating, unreachable. And she liked it that way.

But fate—or chaos—had other plans.

Alex Volvoc was leaning casually against the fountain, the kind of man who drew attention without even trying. His sharp grin and careless posture screamed danger and charm, and people orbited him without daring too close. Asuna had every intention of walking past him, ignoring him like she did every loud, arrogant boy on campus.

Until he opened his mouth.

“Hey, princess, careful your crown doesn’t fall off. Wouldn’t want to see you trip.”

Her heels clicked to a stop. Slowly, she turned her gaze on him, a blade disguised as a smile. “And who are you supposed to be? Court jester?”

Students gasped around them, waiting for the explosion. But instead, Alex laughed, loud and shameless. “Jester? No. More like the knight who rescues spoiled royalty from their boring castles.”

“Knight?” she scoffed, folding her arms. “You look more like the villain everyone warns me about.”

The banter would have gone on forever if not for the girl standing awkwardly behind Alex—a girl with long, dark hair and eyes that held both hesitation and quiet strength. She had books clutched tightly to her chest, and she looked at Asuna like she was unsure whether to approach or retreat.

“Don’t mind him,” the girl said finally, stepping forward. Her voice was steady, warm. “He thinks he’s charming, but he’s really just insufferable.”

That earned a smirk from Asuna. “And you are?”

“Sofia,” she replied simply.

There was something in the way she said it—no frills, no pretenses—that struck Asuna. Unlike everyone else, Sofia wasn’t trying to impress her, flatter her, or whisper about her last name. She was just… herself.

And that was how it began.

Alex kept pestering Asuna, challenging her sharp tongue with his reckless arrogance, and she kept throwing his words back at him like daggers. But somewhere between the battles of wit, they began to respect each other. And Sofia? Sofia slipped into Asuna’s life like sunlight through a crack in the wall. Quietly, naturally, until one day Asuna realized she trusted her more than anyone else.

The three of them became inseparable. Sofia and Alex were soon more than friends—they were gravity to each other. And Asuna, the girl who trusted no one, found herself tangled in their orbit.

It was during one of those reckless nights—after exams, laughter echoing through the dorm halls—that Alex had brought her to meet his family.

Mikel Volvoc, larger than life, mafia king and father, had taken one look at her and declared with no hesitation, “You’ll call me Papa Mikel, understand?”

Asuna had rolled her eyes. “I don’t take orders from mafia kings.”

But even as she spoke, something inside her shifted. For the first time, she wasn’t an heiress, a Whitmore, or an asset. She was just a girl… being welcomed into a family that didn’t need her perfection to love her.

And from that day, the Volvocs were hers—and she was theirs.
