The meeting stretched long into the night. Numbers, names, blood debts. Yoongi laid out a map, explaining shipment routes. Jin argued over diplomatic ties with allies. Jimin teased Jackson about his inability to resist Taehyung’s poker games. Hoseok laughed at every tense pause, enjoying the sparks between Jungkook and Taehyung far too much.
But Jungkook heard none of it. His attention never wavered from the man across the table.
When the meeting ended, the others filed out. Namjoon lingered only a moment, his gaze sharp as if he sensed Jungkook’s storm. Then he left with Jin and Yoongi, murmuring about strategy. Hoseok clapped Jungkook’s shoulder before leaving, a grin that said Don’t mess this up. Jimin and Jackson strolled out together, laughter echoing down the corridor.
Only two remained.
Taehyung leaned on the balcony rail, cigarette glowing in the dark. The city stretched below in silver and neon.
taehyung
“You’re watching me too much,” he said softly.
junkook
“You’re worth watching,” Jungkook replied without hesitation.
taehyung
A smirk tugged Taehyung’s lips. “Careful. Say things like that and Jimin will start accusing you of falling for me.”
junkook
“Let him accuse,” Jungkook said, stepping closer. “He’d only be right.”
taehyung
Taehyung turned then, eyes glinting. “You’ve grown bold. Did you wake up this morning deciding to flirt with me?”
junkook
Jungkook’s lips curved faintly. “Maybe I’ve always been like this. Maybe you just didn’t notice.”
For a moment, Taehyung’s smirk faltered, something flickering in his gaze—before he blew smoke between them and laughed low.
taehyung
“Then prove it,” he whispered. “Let’s see how long you can keep that fire alive.”
Jungkook’s jaw tightened. A lifetime. Even beyond death. But instead, he smiled, dark and dangerous.
junkook
“I don’t intend to let it burn out. Not this time.”
